Body Ails Yet Spirit Soars

Frailty and aging are flaws in bodies of mankind Viral afflictions are infectious and pose grave danger Death from new diseases instantly come to mind making us wary of shaking hands with a stranger Toxins float in the air and swim in waters we drink No longer is it just the elderly that succumb Reasons why the world faces chaos on the brink But with faith the spirit soars without feeling glum Health issues can make a soul see things more clearly When it's been awakened, I find my spirit soaring I'm aware of beauty around me, and not just merely with a glance, but I feel the wildling wind roaring I find myself wanting to take flight like eagles in the sky anticipating storm clouds to feel raindrops on my face I know everything I've been given, but no longer ask why for I've learned to accept gifts within a sweet embrace My body is flesh and bone; my spirit is a different entity One that will not abandon me nor let feebleness win It has the power to exist in me as a blissful identity, a fortress of strength, a paradigm I call my linchpin Despite infirmities plaguing me when each day is done, my enthusiasm for life is professed with sincere meaning I cannot wrap my ailing body inside a cocoon, finely spun, so, I give thanks to my spirit for its benevolent intervening.
