Love's Unsteady Stead -- Glenn Hughes Poetry Contest

Note from poetess: I wrote this poem remembering the first time I heard Hughes' song, "This Time Around." I was dating a man who joined the US Navy. Because he was on a submarine out at sea on undisclosed, secret missions, we could not communicate regularly. We eventually parted ways, the long-distance relationship was too much for either of us to handle. Deciphering the few letters I received from him caused me such anguish and as reflected in the words of my poem.
Poem written for Glenn Hughes Poetry Contest, Robert James Liguori, sponsor 5/24/2024 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In a world woven with whispers of worry, where woes wander and doubts scurry, faced with faults and tales told, here’s a price to pay, bold yet cold. Eternal embers, entwined, exclaim, not nurtured for naught, nor nestled in blame. mistakes missed, melodies mute, same scenes seen, in solemn dispute. Here, hailed under a harmonious round, seeking, scanning, yet you I’ve not found~ losing you, a lament so profound, I'd rather the realm of time remain unbound. Through the threads of time, we tread, this journey juggled, not just in dread. Please, look and leap into love's unsteady stead you’re my forever companion, love’s source, my wellhead.
