Curtains

Characters
Giselle dreams of meeting a prince and experiencing a "happily ever after." A yearning heroine princess trope in a fairy tale who relies on her innate ability to adapt to new situations to survive unfamiliar circumstances. Giselle's transformation into someone who no longer needs to be rescued, a journey in which she evolves into an independent young woman.

Pip is the obligatory animal sidekick, acting as Giselle's best friend while she is still in Andalasia and later as Prince Edward's guide in the real world. But as soon as Pip arrives, he realizes that he is barely able to speak. He uses all his movements and squeaks in a tiny voice which are constantly misinterpreted.

Scene “Nothing To Wear “
In this scene Giselle needs something to wear and with no fairy-godmother, what’s a princess to do?

Dialogue

Giselle: This just won’t do
(a high-pitched soprano begins Ah ha ha ah ah ahhhhhhhhh)!
(A clapping sound)
Giselle: All right everyone
(Suddenly the animals appear, birds, rats, oh and Pip the enchanted chipmunk)
Giselle: Well, it’s always nice to make new friends, Pip, can you pass me the scissors please?
Pip: Mm Hmm
(with his movements and squeaky voice)
Pip: What are you planning, in this strange place to be?
Giselle: As long as I am here in this strange place, a new experience, I need something to wear. These curtains will do just fine
Pip: Oh, oh
(she strolls across the room wearing a smile and a new gown)
Giselle: Why are you staring at me?
(swaying his body as he holds his paws together he struggles with the word)
Pip: Mmm hmm, b-e-a-u-t-i-ful!
Giselle: You really think so? The mice and the rabbits did help with the sewing
(he sighs)
Pip: Mm hmmm
Giselle: I think I’ll open a boutique, I’ll call it Andalashia Fashions
Giselle: Oh me oh my, I hope Edward likes my new dress
(she sighs)

Epilogue In New York City without any clothes suitable for the real world, Giselle fashions a dress out of curtains, mimicking the way her animated character would create clothing in her magical world. It’s a delightful moment that showcases her ingenuity and the blending of her fairytale origins with her new, more pragmatic surroundings.
