Ducks and Ducklings
My daughter's residence favoured my luck !
I loved so much,
for giving scope to watch
seasonal migratory ducks.
She stayed beside a lake as such.
Slope from ground floor,
inclined direct to Lake shore,
aqua surface to touch.
Up and down little brittle ripples to dance
noticed on quick glance.
Small waves off and on
start propagation
along the direction
of blowing breeze
till the wind-flow to seize.
Most of the year ! Nomal happenstance.
At Autumn Flocks of ducks reach Lake
for temporary stay :
all cheerful and gay,
continuously quacking at journey break.
They build nests
and take rest.
Purpose to lay eggs and hatch on transit,
might regional climate to permit.
Breaking shell nestlings appear.
Parents also sincere
and careful indeed,
to protect and feed
infant birdies, as their need.
They afford scheduled time,
till the birdies learn to swim.
Completing prime duty, parent birds chose to exit.
Young birdies started to grow on their own,
as the parent birds are already flown.
Self help followed by the ducklings :
After all, all are close siblings.
Within one month or so,
ducklings to grow,
turning full fledged young ducks
and they are no more stuck.
Parent birds returned in flock to take their offsprings.
Young ducks flapped their newly-formed strong wings.
Full family in flocks soared high,
to reach vast wide sky.
All flew away in rapture
on exciting venture,
leaving their sojourn !
Solitary Lake to mourn.
