DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY

DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In days of yore, when youthful vigor shone, I danced with abandon and never did I moan. Twirl, shimmy, shake, I did spin and sway, with caution to the wind, I danced the night away. I lost myself in the beat and sound, and let my spirit soar, free and unbound. But now, alas, those days are few, and age has taken its toll, boo hoo. My back, a map of wear and tear, aches with each step, movements done with care. The thought of dancing, once so free, now fills me with a sense of pending misery. I'll need a week to recover, ‘tis true, from the simplest of movements, oh pooh! I find solace in my heating pad's warmth, and let my memories be my balm, henceforth. Though my body may be worn and old, my heart remains young, truth be told.
