LET THEM EAT CAKE-
Privileged classes are unsympathetic or unaware of the plight of the poor;
Their pride, prejudice and hate;
- Madame so am I the peasants have no bread to eat.
"Question, so them if I am poor
And have not moneys, for bread?
And the rich then so says…
“Let me eat cake”
It’s not logical?
For if mere breads cost .25 cents---
How can it be you’ll offer throw at me cake?
Which cost more than two-dollars??"
Question?---
What does let them eat cake mean slang?
The entire point of the phrase is that someone is so out of touch with reality/regular people that their response to "There's a shortage of bread" is to say "Well then, they should eat cake instead", as if that's a sensible solution
When in History does this apply?
