Forms of Poetry - From Rhyme Royal to Rispetto
The rhyme royale's might, seven lines arrayed,
a regal form where stories are displayed.
A stately march with measured solemn tread,
where history's hints are carefully read.
The tanka's sigh, a moment held in hand,
five lines that bloom across a quiet land.
A fragile beauty in syllables defined,
a whispered feeling for the heart and mind.
The ottava rima's strength, eight lines entwined,
a narrative flow where stories are designed.
A heroic tale with rhymes that tightly weave,
where passion's fire and destiny believe.
The terza rima's chain, a linked and flowing art,
three lines that guide a journey of the heart.
A spiraling path with rhymes that intertwine,
a quest for truth in every winding line.
The cinquain's form, a diamond's subtle grace,
five lines that hold a moment's fleeting space.
A word, a thought, a feeling's quick display,
in measured lines that gently fade away.
The ode's embrace, a tribute's soaring flight,
a praiseful song that fills the day and night.
A grand expression of passion's fervent plea,
where words exalt for all eternity.
The rispetto's heart, eight lines of tender care,
a dialogue spun where feelings we all share.
A strophic form with rhymes that gently blend,
a story told that knows no final end.
Each form a world, a language of its own,
where human stories are meticulously sown.
A tapestry woven with threads of sound and sight,
to capture moments in the fading light.
