Jumbled Thoughts of a Midnight Drive

I haven’t slept much recently,
You of all people understand late nights
It’s not my fault when I can’t close my eyes
Even when my room’s as black as the outside sky.

My mind just keeps driving me in circles
Driving me insane
Around and around like the wheel of a car
Driving my thoughts who knows how far

But as I race circles around my midnight track
There’s one sign that just keeps popping up,
Maybe it’s because you texted me r u up?
It was right after you told me not to forget your love.

And that just has me thinking, forgive my jumbled midnight twists
That I don’t know what I mean to you,
You say you love me and I’m pretty sure it’s true
But what does that mean? That’s what I wish I knew

You know what you mean to me,
At least I hope you do, the cringy poems I wish I hadn’t sent
The places I’m so glad we went
The hours writing this I’ve spent,

But what is it to you,
Am I a thought on your midnight drive?
When you think “me” what’s the first word that comes to your mind?
When you say my name to others, what colour sits behind your eyes?

There’s a lot, I guess
What plants remind you of my hair?
What’s one thought that you wished I’d share?
What’s my favourite place? My favourite taste? And do you care?

This is the that pops up at night,
When my thoughts race around on their midnight drive,
If you call me crazy your definitely right
And an answer to my questions? That’ll never arrive.

But I guess I just wondered
When you think of me, where your thoughts go?
And I know you just got your license, so
If you wanted to tell me, I guess, just let me know
