Away With the Faries

In twilight rooms
mischievous fairies
steal my thoughts away
as if they were babies.

I think they want me
to talk to them,
but I know that
that would be a mistake,
for although they love us,
they do not like us,
and if we
misspell just one uttering word,
they will pinch our lips together.

Yet if we sit, stand,
or lay our bodies down quietly,
then their little love buds
(like lilliputian bubble wrap),
will pop all over
our most sensitive places -
that is their language,
and we are their dictionary,
one they are still working upon.

Alexa, that smart speaker,
takes notes.
When later you ask her about the fairies
she just giggles,
as if you were telling her
a very saucy joke.
