The Emperor's New Poem

we live in an age where needles and lies
weave threads that get tangled and lost

naked truths disappear once 'the stitchers' advise
sewing doubt at whatever the cost.

beware that parade that marches aloof
with its sycophants cheering in line

for the silence inside that is hiding the truth
cuts away at life's fabric in time.

so where is that child who laughs and cries out:
“when they speak they say nothing at all”?

until he appears and until we cast doubt
they’ll spin yarns and forever walk tall.
