Raining in Summer

“When there’s Summer rain, have no regrets.
It isn’t raining rain, it’s raining violets.
When you see clouds upon the hill,
You really see crowds of daffodils” – B.G.DeSilva

Tiny droplets snatched by the parched ground.
Wisps of steam rise, the droplets cannot be found.
The thirsty grass hopes for more of the summer rain.
The large droplets falling to earth create a tuneful refrain.

The steady water falling now showers at a faster pace.
Cooling the day as the drops on the window resemble lace.
There's a veil of silvery water draped over the garden.
The clouds take a more solid form and appear to harden.

Tree branches sway as if to catch every drop from the cloud.
A blanket of crystal beads resembles a majestic shroud.
Shimmering Summer rain is intent to cool the dry land.
Lovingly sent through the sunlight by God’s gentle hand.

Seeing hot thirsty animals and birds, the fluffy clouds in the sky,
Felt pity for them, He filled them with tears and they began to cry.
Relentless heat this summer. Dams and water tanks are low.
Relief for the farmer to see them filling, although it is slow.

A pleasure for his wife to see the little stream, start to flow again.
She doesn’t mind the dog’s muddy paws from being in the rain.
The children’s fun splashing in puddles, their laughter is like gold.
This Summer rain causes no shivers or running in from the cold.

Bird baths are all filling, and the rain has washed dusty feathers.
All creatures were glad that it rained in all kinds of weathers.
A wonderful cooling shower under the bright sun.
And a soft pastel rainbow of infinite beauty to delight everyone.

Leaf filled gutters, rainwater cascaded over the edge creating a waterfall.
A striking prism of spectacular colors. Summer's gift to us all.
The melodious sounds of constant rain falling for a good cause.
If you listen carefully, it resembles Heaven’s gracious applause.

A stunning sight will be seen, looking out from my sun lit room,
Any day now, thanks to the Summer rain, I will see my roses bloom.
Catching cool rain in the warm sun, I cup my hand, it’s so fine,
Tasting the clear liquid straight from the cloud, it’s like Summer wine.
