To Kiss Banes Unto Boons
Rising, if the sun prides making high noons,
I’ve often turned life’s winters unto Junes.
What if my pen fetches no stars at first?
It knows to fight back, bargain fair fortunes.
Getting best from pen oft gets people’s goat,
I know it helps— growing cactus on dunes.
So what if some of my labour’s returned,
I know well to wait for bluest of moons.
Maybe I’m held up, not left high and dry,
I may take long but know to rise from ruins.
Poems oft pose to me a seed of thought:
Making a blank leaf black’s no great renown!
Life being life, may well go out of tune,
Tell me if you can kiss banes unto boons.
