A Boastful Mountain
"Arrogance, a harmful disease,
Never keeps human souls at ease
And afflicts men with a false sense
Of superior intelligence."- By author

A Boastful Mountain
If antiquity
is the stamp of nobility,
then I am nobler than man.
I stand here since the dark days of time
I have eyed the birth and death of species
the growth of the human race amidst divine mysteries
the rise and fall of empires, the dreadful demise of dictators,
emperors just like their vassals kissing the dusty earthen ground
I have I have
viewed with dismay silently stared
deadly wars along my slopes in stark solitude at rank
men spearing each other with rage and wealth being cast aside
bombing beautiful buildings and setup fame and glory kissing the dust
shooting children, civilians and capital cities pomp, pride and abusive power
reduced to grey ashes in an hour
stately mansions silently left to decay
I dread beauties fading away like spring flowers
not the sands innocence being trampled on the highway
of time moving in its
relentless sway or the
fair winged chariot soaring
up high in the clean cerulean sky
as I am steady, stable and salutary
while man fades away after a short while
and is a transitory traveler of the earthly plane.
