Razor back clams
she put the veggie
oil and olive oil
together in a bowl
and put cayenne and
dried peppers in the oil
where she had
crushed 10 cloves of garlic
heating the oil to extract the flavors
she let it cook
for 6 minutes
cooling over night
for lunch the next
day she would be entertaining
more than 55 people
for rehearsal
of the orchestra
razor clams
and nutria
and lsenga
would be the stars of
the table
chef Monday would
cook to the delight of these people
who needed to fine tune
there act.
Stuffed Nutria
the hindparts stuffed with
crayfish and sausage
a dry Alsatian pinot blanc
to accompany the parmesan and
lemon and pine nut combo
that coupled with crayfish and sausage
I asked my wife what was the best way to
cook a Muskrat and I told
her done. I aint got nothing against the thang
I just wanna do it with people I will likely need there
opio and loyalty to me and I to them
like this opera player
due to there need to
focus and fine tune to be absolute professionals.

The willow leaf boy was interested in all kinds of marvelous things.
He was especially attentive to moths, monarchs, and butterfly wings.
He lived down in the willows next to a stream near the cattail pond.
We hardly ever saw him, but we knew the fey were quite fond….
They had watched him grow up, and they remarked on his youth.
He was always polite, scientific, and he could disappear in a poof.
The willow leaf boy, is he fact, fiction, fantasy or what?
I think of him when I see willows, ponds, or a pine nut.

Life is like a nut,
Differs in shape, size, color or crust,
Life is like a nut.
For some, it’s like a coconut,
Beyond the reach, safe from gust
Very important, much privileged!
Whether unripen or matured.
For some it’s like a peanut,
Malleable, fit in budget
Widely spread, versatile no doubt
However, down and out.
For some it’s like a walnut,
You can see the eminence clear cut
Set comfortably in its dwell,
In a hard stilted shell.
For some it’s like a pine nut,
Gazes weird I tell you what
Shielded with strong beautiful woody cone,
Prevents you! to invade its zone.
For some it’s like a cashew nut,
Self-interested, pricy somewhat
Tightly attached with red pulpy drupe,
Be cautious! While shelling the fruit
For some it’s like a chestnut,
Down-to-earth, graceful but,
Surrounded with sharp spines called “Bur”
All adversities ought to conquer.
Life is like a nut,
Differs in shape, size, color or crust,
Life is like a nut.

Pine nuts
May remind you
Of Pesto,
They rewind
Me to Rome.
Eternal blue skies
Soccer games
Lemon and fragola ice creams
The Vatican,
A city once called home.
My neighbor Giorgio
We met at the park
Initial sign language
Kicked the ball then till dark.
Skinny tall Pine trees
Peaked green Monte Mario hills
Surrounding fresh perfume,
Throughout historic stills.
Intrepid pastime
Was climbing
Slim trunks
Stealing trees pine cones,
Then eating pine nuts.
All empty hollow cones
Water colored each husk
Rainbow like painted,
Bringing sunshine
To Christmas dusk.
Memories brought back
With each little bite
Earthy tiny small pieces
Remembers me Rome
In each pine nut.
