Where ever she goes the cameras loom.
They're on to the scent of her perfume.
She sucks the oxygen from the room..
Forever in the public eye, all daily movements scrutinized.
She must dot all x's and circle her y's
Transparent as a bronze gold fish.
Isolated, observed, on a petri dish,
craving for some privacy, a daily wish..
She pulls up her quilt and sleeps until noon,
aware of the face she'll be wearing soon.
She sucks the oxygen from the room.
What's in all those flasks and beakers
Powerful brains for inspirational speakers
What's thawing out in that microwave
Like-new used lungs, they're all the rave
Wutcha gonna put in this here petri dish
Tell me what you want; I'll grant you your wish ~
Someone to love me like grandpa loved grandmother
So sorry, but love's a secret science hasn't discovered
viral,villainous
political petri dish
lost is our nation
monuments defaced
To ensconce communism
founders in graves, weep
churches kept locked
citizens must stay inside
big sin is freedom

asthma petri dish
cigarette smoke in a car
children hostages
As our civilisation reaches new heights
We can be proud of our achievements
As we enter a new golden age
Survivors of the second penicillium war
We harnessed our knowledge
And struck out
To all corners of our world
Only to find none
But confirmed our world was flat
Encircled by a glass wall
A dish
Disproving the world sphere theory
Despite the "globe worlder's" stubborn claims
Is the sky bound by glass?
Under the constant light
Or is it open to the firmament?
Can we fly to the heavens?
Can we leave our world?
Are there other dishes out there?
Is there alien life on these alien worlds?
Or are we alone in the universe?
We are the chosen
The dominant bacterial species
Over the viruses, amoebas and prions
Set apart and raised above
Did we evolve from simpler forms?
As our scholars say
Or is there an all powerful designer?
Who loves us all
Were we made in his image?
Are we part of his plan?
Or is our culture just an experiment
Performed by an race of beings
Incomprehensible to us
Indifferent to us
But no-one really believes that
