To my Em

A letter received with glee, read with happiness, wrote with love,
Sent in faith, dreamed with hope, with prayers prayed over it.
Oh, friend I miss you so, miss your smile,
Your voice, your perty blue eyes, her blonde hair,
But most of all, I miss your kindness, honesty, compassion,
Your hopes and dreams that you entrusted in me.
I miss your letters, full of sunshine, family bond, holy promises.
Oh sister, I miss you so.
And now, you're out there somewhere in this world,
taking it day by day, trusting in our sweet savior.
Someday, I know our paths will cross, and our tears will mingle,
with happiness and joy, as our prayers will be answered.

Party

The political party is a pot
Brewing beer not of barley
Preserved for the toppers not the lot
It is a beer to convince by deception to pry
Upon the minds of the lot

The powers of the political party steer
Mainly gained through the intoxication
After partying with the beer
Maliciously present party prediction
Based on the lot’s vulnerability and fear

The powers of the political party steer
The over-ambitious manifesto brewed in the pot
And the lot get intoxicated with this beer
Made of poly-tricks and propaganda of a sort
Then power is granted to the party by the lot’s votes out of fear

Then the manifesto becomes a shelf occupant
Bearing in mind their bellies, bullies, bribery, and bureaucracy,
Finding definitions for their inabilities, and plant
In the lot the hope for the future of a true democracy
While they gather our coffers for their future like the ant.

Mah Country Song, Y'Awl

Wul, I nev'r bin sombuddy and I ain't sombuddy now.
I merry'd purty Lizza 'n her daddy had a cow.
Livin' in the country is whar I wanna be,
Life is gosh darn simple, perty much lak me.

Pap-in-lahw's a sinner, he ain't got no soul.
Preacher says he lost it, goin' on a roll.
Cain't nev'r git it back, so the good book say'd.
Whut good's a fella's soul, if ya lose it with yer haid?

Wul, me 'n purty Lizza play ketch-up ever day,
Tryin' to mek a repluca whilst rollin' in the hay.
Mama say'd the way it werks is hangin' on reel tight,
But hangin' on to Lizza shore keeps me up at night.

But thet's ok I figger, 'cause daylite's jus fer naps,
'Cept ya kno, in Pappy's case, he's to bizzy shootin' craps.
Jus in case yore wonderin' — ain't likely — jus' the same,
You prob'ly never heer'd of me, nev'r kno'd mah name.

'Cause I nev'r bin sombuddy and I ain't sombuddy now.
I merry'd purty Lizza 'n her daddy had a cow.
Livin' in the country is whare I wanna be,
Life is gosh darn simple, perty much lak me.

Dormant

beat down by a
world of rejection
with wrinkles staring
back from that
cruel mirrored reflection
realizing the real world
that does not
rhyme like it might
in the most perty of
songs that we sing to
ourselves in times of
perfectly horrific tragedy
or jokes we tell those
round us to try & grasp
some iota of
comfort in a
collapsing atmosphere &
every breath is a struggle
& every attempt at moving
away from the past seems
to be a fleeting jump in the
direction of chaos
where personal responsibility
can seem more daunting
as each passing moment
rears its ugly head &
every pointing finger
is just another dying
hollow body, here lies
the titillating torment,
here lies the hilarity
that what one blames as
the sole reason for
such seemingly singular
demise, that
possibility of sex laying
all around at the feet of
the 21st century adult,
that wanton human
desire that creates the
catalyst that topples the
first crucial domino in
a life of self-blame &
echoing walls to scream to
when the inevitable empty
room surrounds,
leaving one alone,
leaving one sick,
leaving one self-destructive &
dormant,
waiting for the world to give one
more reason,
waiting
waiting
waiting.

A Gurl

you look so fine wit your perty face

a girl like u i wouldn't even mind to chase

so A Girl why don't u come to my place

this aint no race

we can take wit a lil pace

we can hold hands and walk to the park

chill there tell it starts to get dark

and i can show u my kinda spark

its just the feeling i have for u

and u know it to be true

hopin that these times wouldn't be against what u do

but girl u know I'll always take it real slow

as im whisperin in your ear

letin ur body show no fear

never let u shed a tear

this is what i mean when i hold u tight

i'll take u to a place that forever shows u light

Dreamin

Girl ur like a figment of my mind

ur beauty's so prime

that it should be like a crime

even when i speak ur name for one time

i want u to be my sun shine

to the air i breath

something i can hold on to that will never leave

even through all the dust i can see my doll

my perty girl that's over them all

the one that i may call to make plans for another day

show u what love means in every simple way

its not the words i say

its the things i do

its like that feeling of waking up to that gurl next to u

saying this aint no dream gurl this is that love that came true

The Calathea

sitting
there
looking
like
something
of
a sunrise
pine
cone
all
yellowy
&
as if it was
dipped
in
ruby
red
grapefruit
juice
it
smiles
at
you
with
the
gritty
gross
intent
of
a
priest
about
to
break
all
his
vows
&
while
the
aptly
named
prayer
plant
of
the
forest
offers
up
those
same
shallow
little
nothings
for
all
the
other
plant
life
to
drown
in,
that
is
no
reason
to
condemn
it
for
being
perty.

Grasshoppers in the food
Grasshoppers in your bed
Grasshoppers in your drawers
Grasshoppers on your head

"Boys we's gonna hast ta push um
Tha weathers helpin too
I ain't got no idera how fer it air
Till we's kin find some food"

"Hey Cookie whar air fer breakfast"
Asked Samuel as he reached for his coffee
"What cha thinks Fried Grasshoppers" answered the old cook
Giving Samuel a dirty look

"Heared youse tells tha boys
We's gonna has ta push um"
"That's right gots ta find some grass perty quick
Jist two more weeks un we's 'll be at tha ranch"

A commotion from the herd
Samuel to turn around
The cowboys were already on horseback
Heading for the sound

"Drat it" said Gabe as he entered the herd
"What are wrong," asked Samuel
As he rode up next to Gabe
"Looks like we's gonna has 'nother mouth ta feed"

The calf safely bedded in the supply wagon
Samuel gave the orders to move out
The cattle didn't need to be urged
They headed out in a huge surge
