I can sense
the creeping
overture.
t’s blasting
out windows
to the lawns.
Pepping up
an entire
neighborhood.

As I walk up to my pond
As I walk up to my pond
The water is shimmering
Like glass
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see
All the ducks bobbing
All around
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see
As I walk up to my pond
I hear the pepper s
On the ground
Pepping to find a mate
In hope there not to late
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see
I smell that fishing smell
As I happen to see a big
Cat fish pop up out of
The water as well
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see
As I walk up to my pond
And I throw my pole out
To get a bite or two
I hoping to catch a bass
That line better hold out
I maybe I get a big fish
At last
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see
God I know you made
The birds and the fish
Of the sea
How could any one doubt
Cant they see
As I walk up to me pond
It make me happy
And all my troubles
Float away
So come on get out
Your fishing poles
And sit a spell
Put you worm on your hook
hey ya got a bite
take a look
I think oh what a wonderful
Thing to see

Church Folk
Church folk will hug you, love you
And throw a knife in that new coiffure
Church folk ain’t no joke.
They will definitely talk about
you when you are broke.
Some of them are dancing on Friday,
into Saturday night.
Getting to church on Sunday in the daylight.
Feet still stepping, pepping, body swaying to
music of their time, breath still
smelling like last night’s wine.
Sunday evening playing horseshoes
chugging down the home brews.
Church folk ain’t no joke.
They roll their eyes.
while they tell you lies.
Church folks shout, dance and stomp
to the ghost.
Seeing who can dance the most,
and gossiping while eating
that Sunday roast.
Church folk ain’t no joke
Polishing that door knob,
at the same time coveting your job
Twisting that knife
While lusting after your life.
Church folks ain’t no joke.
