I bought a bike to beat the band
But found it came with no kickstand
I pedalled around
It fell to the ground
It was two-tired to stand unmanned

Trump Mettled With Mind
Trump with minute minds often mettled,
Of all his supporters who are unsettled;
Ignorance lob
Like doorknob;
Over cliff his bike should have pedalled.

Just yesterday morning,
The west wind whirled away my hat.
"What use is an old hat?"
I murmured as I pedalled my bicycle, whistling.
Few miles away, my flip-flop fell off,
I let the second one go too,
"It's better to lose the two,
What use can one worn out flip-flop be of?"
Then the sun shone suddenly, harshly,
And I missed my miserable hat.
My bicycle broke down a part,
And the heated ground showed no mercy.
On my way back, I saw a mad man
Kneeling and raising his hands up:
He has found a hat and pair of flip-flop.
My sole is sore, my head is swoon.

When I was young, eight years at most,
I pedalled to Miss Weatherby's house...
down the street,
past salty old codgers
cheating at checkers,
past Dad's bakery,
around the bend to duck ponds with
silly-faced Buddha frogs
showing toothless grins,
past the poor shack-lodgers,
speeding by the boogie man's
house on the hill,
down a plank of brown road
to the stand displaying Ann's handbags,
across from the palette where
buttercups wag in topaz fields
swallowing golden pepper rays,
to the cow path ending at
Miss Weatherby's picket fence.
She stands with apple cheeks and
a gray bonnet, plucking roses
from vines, placing them in
plaid apron pockets, and tossing
toasted crumbs to red hens.
She gives me tan eggs and I
pay her with blueberry muffins and
conversation...then back up the road again.
