Overachieve Poems | Examples

Blessed

The bountiful harvest of today
The ease, the simplicity we’ve created in life
Ironically makes a man empty
Creates a mind full of strife

When enough is never enough
And we overachieve in all our needs
It's only a matter of time
We all reap the punishment of our dirty deeds

Depressed, stressed, and lonely
We live a life full of fear
Confused yet pompous
Sipping on an exquisite bohemian pilsner beer

We've over evolved
We can't handle the truth
We suffer miserably in uncertainty
Ignoring the scientific proof

So we take another bite
We smoke a little weed
We drink ourselves to death
Creating our own disease

The heavenly blessings we’ve acquired
Have become a devilish stew
With our genetic insatiable appetite
It's hard to swallow when you don't chew

The dichotomy of evolution
The conundrum of ease and living free
Is it a blessing?
I guess we'll have to wait and see

Dreams

Some people say that you won't make it, that you're just a dreamer.
Don't let that bother you because it will hurt like a fever.
You can go to the stars and you can reach to the sky.
But always remember that you first have to learn how to fly.
Do not get apart from your dreams, but become a part that that dream.
To succeed, you need to achieve, and to achieve, you need to believe,
and to believe, you need to perceive to then receive then later overachieve.
Life has ups and downs, but without down, there is no ups, meaning
without mistakes, there's no hop, skip, and jump over the stump that tries
to dump your future. This is called success, and although it seems like a mess,
it makes you different from the rest. Be an eagle that symbolizes strength,
and not a chicken that sacrifices death.

Pastel Dreams

Why are you so focused
on my little tiny failures
not on my overall grand success
every time I stumble
you seem to drag me down
with all your words of aspersion
I just slide further down
you criticize and vilify
as I attempt to overcome
every minuscule failure

As I see, every mark
adds color to the picture
but to you the world
is black and white
a charcoal picture
ally my attempts to add pastel
you have just deemed fails
you pick and I compare
I am trapped in a nightmare
as I neglect to overachieve extraordinary

I Hate Perfectness

I hate perfect girls stuck in their little perfect world Obsessive compulsive
disorders. The one's with the perfect hair, perfect grades, perfect everything and they
can't stop overachieving. They go to perfect colleges and live and marry perfect husbands
who do nothing but give perfection to the tenth degree. It sort of makes me sick to think
of such perfectness, a nature that will most definitely be passed down to their children.
Who will in turn drive themselves crazy trying to reach their parent's expectations. The
controlling ones, the ones who demand perfection and the cycle doesn't break until one
child refuses. Tell them I can't be perfect, I won't overachieve. I will do my best and
you will just have to live with it. So here's to the people who live life beyond the
rules... Just being themselves is enough. Here's for the normal one's who have to get
tutored in math and maybe just maybe they have more depth than just their facade. A
person has to have a flaw no matter how tiny. No one's perfect and I feel everyone can
try to remain hidden behind this jewel but eventually it will crack and shatter your
perfect world leaving you sinking.
