They step outside for their evening walk
The first since the end of a bitter winter.
So much to say, but neither speak
Birds join in vespers
Liquid sounds and trills punctuated by staccato riffs
fill the silence
As the sun sets, the horizon is striped with layers
of azure, tangerine and scarlet.
They gaze at the beauty, not turning their heads
The night is sultry.
Languid, warm winds give no relief form the heat
Too hot to get close.
Solar dragonflies along the driveway lead them home
They enter and close the door without realizing
the opportunities that were forfeited.
The chance to say "I'm sorry"
The moment to see love in each others' eyes.
The perfect time for a forgiving kiss.
Not understanding that "not ready" ofter becomes "too late"

You look at me
And ofter see
A girl who is all alone
Tears rolling down
Always a frown
That no one can truly see
Then I look at you
And know it's true
Happiness will soon come
And the tears that fell
Will never dwell
And a smile will come again
You told me you'll always be with me
Then I turned around
You wre no long there I sadly found
You look at me
And often see
A girl who is all alone
Tears rolling down
Always a frown
No one can truly see
I had enough
Life is tough
I no longer care
And when I die
All shall cry
When they read my final word:
You look at me
And often see
A girl who is all alone
Tears rolling down
Always a frown
No one can truly see
