Why are some so selfish,
So cruel and unkind?
It seems to the cares of others,
They've been born deaf and blind.
When it comes to their own feelings,
They are easily bruised.
One must tread most carefully,
Not to make them feel abused.
They think quite highly of themselves,
Think they can do no wrong.
They're generous, kind, long suffering,
And they have suffered long.
They have been misunderstood,
Neglected, hated, scorned,
Shunned, unloved and left alone,
Feeling bereft, forlorn.
They forgot the many times,
They have betrayed a trust.
The times they kicked you when you're down,
And walked away nonplused.
Forgotten are the many things,
They've done to raise your ire.
If you remind them of these things,
They simply call you liar.
They won't believe a single word.
Convinced you are mistaken.
All reason and all common sense,
Have sadly been forsaken.
Most will never realize,
They can not admit,
They could have brought it on themselves.
Not them, no not one bit.

When I Was Small, I Grew
by Michael R. Burch
When I was small,
God held me in thrall:
Yes, He was my All
but my spirit was crushed.
As I grew older
my passions grew bolder
even as Christ grew colder.
My distraught mother blushed:
what was I thinking,
with feral lust stinking?
If I saw a girl winking
my face, heated, flushed.
"Go see the pastor! "
Mom screamed. A disaster.
I whacked away faster,
hellbound, yet nonplused.
Whips! Chains! Domination!
Sweet, sweet, my Elation!
With each new sensation,
blue blood groinward rushed.
Did God disapprove?
Was Christ not behooved?
At least I was moved
by my hellish lust.
