Film Noirs Gone

Film Noirs dead
But the voiceover's in my head
it tells of ash-can alleys
and dingy motels
pulp magazines tell their own tales

I'm in a dark corner
I'm waiting for you
for a kiss before dying
that's all I can do

there are lonely places
long goodbyes
short hello's and deserted streets
in the city that never sleeps

I'm down and out
fallen woman at my feet
these urban streets
bring death on the cheap

there are victims of fate
no one's safe
nobody prays
in these dark days

in the dead of night
everyone lies
kiss tomorrow goodbye
it's three in the morning
and somebody dies

leaves blow in the gutter
there's no light or shade
just our love
starting to fade

there are no more heroes
no one to trust
that's why I lost you
love lies in the dust

come back film noir
now I walk alone
neon lights flash
so the whole town knows
that I want you back

the whole town knows
that I want you back

Senior Wine

A single glass of wine could mean
A peaceful sleep; a peaceful dream
New wine for seniors, I kid you knot
Will offer more; will hit the spot
While Pinot Blanc & Pinot Noirs
And Pinot Grigio are the stars
This newly developed hybrid grape
Is an anti-diuretic taking shape
It’s expected to finally reduce the number
Of bathroom trips that hinder slumber
This new wine soon at dealer’s door
Will simply be named Pinot More

Nocturnum

Drifting clouds, painted glory, fade with the day’s death.
Only streaks remain, expended filaments of sunset.
The breeze is faint, but open, still a divine catharsis,
Though the whispers seem to retreat with the light.
Slate rocks find a quickened pace, forced by the transition.
The trees’ creak, the shadows seek, to find the mind,
Racing beyond the hindered sight of that which may be,
Dragging even the smallest bête noirs before the candle’s throw
Then darkness, mystery issues from every nook.
Faustian thoughts to find power and peace.
Time is the torture, for this is only the beginning
Of the time between dusk and dawn.
