A pockmarked plane atop the wooden box
tilts as it dips in the Syrian void,
its hollow compartment lining the faults like
a silver ball which never rests but always
rolls, always weary those worrisome holes
that chisel the quarry to calcified clumps.
Six years spent fighting, flushing freedom
from his nepotistic keep, have rendered al-Assad
a face full of age, nights free of sleep,
and lucid dreams of an Arab Spring
flooding the fields his brother plowed.
There he stands, slaying the wakened womb
that would bury its own for stable graves, aware
there’s a million more marching outside his door.

It's a piece ripped from myself.
Truth brutally extracted for their musing.
They plead for me to bleed often.
Because they might find it soothing.
They delight when we suffer.
Nepotistic sadistic circle of acceptance.
They worship ruin expecting perfection.
Cheering you with a muted indifference.
I see your twisted game.
A sad view that's excruciating to feel.
Greedy survivors of inward starvation.
Stripping us and tossing away the peel.
We don't pander to the pawing.
Those who do find the abyss.
Truth remains externally unfound.
To the narrow mind, an impossible gyst.
I will gush blood until I'm dust.
But I will never sacrifice for them.
I do what I do because I must;
refusing their footing to effect or condemn.
My struggle to evolve is written.
Wounds laid bare for all to see.
You think it's for you.
It's how I get a better look at me.

Toxic Cake
by Odin Roark
How drippingly fine
The words that coat
Such layered density
Icing thick enough
To entice the fool
Along with seasoned critics
Into toxic waste goodness
Persuasion chefs united
Gourmet salesmanship
Learned minds
Street smart minds
Tribal and nepotistic minds
All hawking hidden contagion
Beneath their ever sweet glazing
One day
A global cake will be rolled out
For all to gorge on
Unaware from the top
Might explode layered poison
Well surpassing avoidance
Our own demise
A recipe created by sentient impotence
The giant bite
The final swallow
The sweet tooth seduction
That never was
