Oregon Demon Cat
The demon cat
Lived in Medford Oregon
The demon cat was a big black cat
His eyes were filled with demonic energy
He stared at you
Looking into your very soul
Filled with anger, and hatred
For the entire human race
He seemed at times
To be not from this planet
Perhaps an alien species
Studying the human race
Or perhaps he came
Form hell itself
The demon cat loved to torment visitors
For some reason he hated the man’s daughter
The cat would stare at her from his perch
Down the hall from the old man
Then he would run at her
Screaming like an escaped banshee
Straight out of hell
She told her dad
Either the cat goes
Or I go
He said
See you later
The demon cat smiled
At the small victory
And she left the house
With the demon cat
Screeching good bye

START
The Mystic River
While strolling along a grassy path, beside the Mystic River
I revel in the breeze in the trees, and how it makes leaves quiver
It's as if they are restless now; now that summer's come
As they jostle with each other, perhaps to get more sun
I marvel in nature's disorder and how a crooked trunk weaves
One of nature's wonders - a magnificent tangle of leaves
reflecting a shimmering lattice, on this old waterway
Then, out of the blue, comes a song from a lone blue-jay
At the further bend of the river, where mystery and fog abound
And the horizon gets fuzzy, as the sun is going down
I make out a gaggle of geese; their silhouettes unique
As they glide along the surface, while paddling with webbed feet
The Mystic River, in Medford, an old Boston town
Is a respite in a busy world, where you can look around
And picture this place as it was, hundreds of years ago
Carefully saved from pollution - one thing it doesn't know.

I remember AUNT B for the way she took care of me when
mother was not home but working
She would take me to Boston on the Orange Line to go
shopping for comic books and clothes for the upcoming School Year
Then,we would go to a Burger King and have the Scramble Egg platter and
Orange juice for Breakfast
Walking over to the Boston Common by early afternoon,we would take a little ride
on the Swan Boats and after that, take the elevator all the way up to the top of the
John Hancock Building and Look down upon the Hustle and Bustle Bostonians
from the view of the Observation Deck
After having lunch near a busy Mass Ave Cafe,we would go on the Green Line
and switch back over to the Orange that would take us out of the city and back
upon our Medford suburb.
Thanks AUNT B
for showing me how the world runs for free
