This 21-year old girl, Sindhu
From the land of the Hindu
Set the badminton court on fire
Her opponents in a quagmire
The shuttle flew like a bird
Dropped without being heard
In the other corner of the court
Giving no chance to retort
She wove magic in her game
In her quest for universal fame
As adversaries surrendered by the way
She strode like a colossus each day
Her delicate drop-shots caressed the net
Gives her a sure point you can bet
Her vicious smashes pierce the court
The only defense is to build a fort
A prodigy like her is rarely born
Whom the entire country might adorn
An analysis of her winning ways
Suggest only resolute mind and effort pays
The Olympic medal she has won
Has brought cheers to everyone
All fans are saying in one voice
“CHAK DE INDIA”, she’s our choice

Joseph Schooling, Singapore's first
Gold Medallist, Rio Olympics 2016)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Joy in meek voice as triumph speaks loud,
Opt a fine win in swift sure speed;
Set winning poise humble not proud,
Etch hard work seen with gold disc deed;
Prime purpose moves with passion pure,
Heart and mind show how focus gains.
Sense effort groove with gut feel sure,
Calm and clear flow in action plain;
Heed the deep feel as time reveals,
Oblige the truth as success sums;
Olympic will as goal meets thrill,
Live ample proof in great outcome;
In this grand glow of winning page,
Niche medal show of gold onstage,
Glimpse profound flow that comes of age.
The beach air had come to me
With its refreshing yet breezy sensation
The summer is just in the city
Have the fun in the earth’s heaven
Iced water and a bit of lemon, perhaps
Please hold this for me, thank you
The birds are building their nest
Is it a wonder of something new?
Pass the plain water trunk to me
I will swim the entire sea today
No, not to break a knee
Nor a strut for that fine quay
I wonder how an Olympic medallist dive
Or how the cyclist ride
It would a year maybe five
To practice my coordination and sight
The sunset had arrive
Look at the colour it shows
The swimmers had come to a take five
The meaning only He knows
