Radical engraver Charles Maurin
put the art world in quite a spin
Illustrator for journal Le Temps nouveau
from his brush intimate portraits were to flow
Charles Maurin with talent to spare
an etching revolutionaire
His composition - allegorique*
best displays an enigmatic technique
. for public domain and Peter Maurin
You often had spare change to give
to help someone or other live
throughout the nights of gnawing hunger
when you were young and they were younger.
You sighed and sat down by their side
and offered comfort Saints provide
throughout the night until the dawning,
on hopeless souls, doting, fawning,
and now, not a thing to show for it,
you'd nothing left that's worth a spit,
your body limp beside a dumpster,
a Hooker tricks while some John humps her.
A
mother's
love cements
all family
life.
An Ekphrasis after Maternity by Charles Maurin
