Diagnosis

Refered to the hospital
Though Via my gp
When up on arrival
Now starting to worry

Suspected growth or cyst
Hopping it is not the big C
Refered to throat specialist
Also had fine needle biopsy

Something l did not anticipate
Back and fourth ,numuros scans
But l supose now that my fate
Then rests in their hands

Hoping l was for a diagnosis
What are chances of survival
Should l start my bucket list
What if it is though terminal

Now it seems l still await
The results of needle test
And my emotional state
It seems at this time a mess

Not making any future plans
Anything to put my mind at rest
Then l am told very swollen glands
An infected lymph node
never have guessed

Written febuary 2014 horrible time was really ill very scary time

Glow and glitter
tweet and twitter
face book hookers
are number one
baby sitter
sew and knitter
good lookers
over done
hit the high road
just for show load
have ice cream just for fun
beat the bar code
implode a lymph node
dd 214 on the line
shoot a basket
stretched elastic
uncle sam is doing fine
pointless end rhyme
must stop some time
put it up and watch it spin
link the tail back to the top ?
no way, not this mess again.

My Port

You’ve heard the saying
Any port in a storm
With chemo – a chest port
Is usually the norm
I’ll have a nickel-sized bump
Or a quarter at best
Just over my heart
Left side of my chest
And through it all fluids will enter
And through it all blood work will leave
They say that it’s really quite painless
That’s something I want to believe
But first they have got to insert it
But first they must knock me out cold
The procedure takes less than an hour
I won’t know that it’s in there I’m told

It’s done, now the port is within me
My chest is a bit black and blue
I can’t wait till they start to use it
I can’t wait till this whole thing is through
Then again they will have to extract it
And again they will knock me out cold
That won’t be until maybe November
Till then, well this poem is on hold

Those of you that do not know me, I was diagnost with cancer in Jan. Had surgery
to remove what they could see. Had one lymph node prove positive for cancer and
started a 6 month chemo program last week. I have been keeping a poetic journal
of the trials and tribulations of a cancer patient since the start.
