My grandkids gather around my hearth and think it's so great,
To listen to tales of my youth that to them I love to relate.
They sit with mouths agape and with attentive ear,
As I tell them how it was in good old yesteryear!
"There was no such thing as television or amazing videos,
Tho' we had picture shows and mysterious radios.
The baffling computer was far beyond my generation,
Tho' we had typewriters and ciphered on fingers for calculation!"
"Cars now start with the twist of a key and are so very swank,
But we started our old jalopies with a knuckle-busting crank!
There's even a turn signal now to relay your turn intention;
We hung an arm out the window prior to this invention!"
"We had no fancy phones with touchtone, pictures and such.
Our phone hung on a wall - you turned a crank to get in touch.
Scratchy platters spun on a Victrola, playing music to please.
Today the latest and greatest is boom boxes, DVDs and CDs!"
"We had no comfortable facilitiy nowadays called a bath;
We wended our way on moonless nights down a dark and lonely path!"
My grandkids can't believe it when I tell them all this stuff!
All they can say is, "Grandpa, you sure did have it rough!"

A simple man, I don‘t need much, I use few words; I’m Joe.
I once framed houses, now drive trucks. That’s all you need to know.
I love my wife and think she’s great, but one thing I can’t stand
She’s got so many things that it is getting out of hand.
Last month I hauled out all her * #^%$ and tossed it on the floor
of our garage because I could not take it any more.
When she came home and saw the mess, I told her: Listen up,
Your clothes take up three closets cause you’re such a cluster * %$#$#
I don’t care if the kids are gone. You don’t need their old space
to keep old clothes that do not fit and shoes such a disgrace.
The kitchen drawers are stuffed with junk that you don’t even use.
You have to clear the cupboards out before I blow a fuse!
I’ve taken all your Christmas crap and boxed it up for you.
It’s now in the garage there with your filing cabinet too.
These books and all the videos you never even play -
We’ll buy more bookshelves for them but throw a lot away!
You’re right. I never help to clean. but I feel too depressed
to wash clothes in the laundry room when I see all the mess. . .
the gifts stockpiled for grandkids; and that junk for holidays . . .
It’s got to be made orderly. Who needs it anyways?
I’m trying to be nice here. It doesn’t have to be
done all at once, but all this stuff. . .I feel like I can’t breathe.
I’m cleaning up my work spaces and then when I am through,
I’m going to redo the porch and uproot bushes too.
That sink we needed to replace I’m finally putting in.
I’m getting a new ceiling fan and also storage bins.
You poets here, this poem I post to keep you in the loop.
My wife can’t be here much this month at this here Poetry Soup.
I know she’ll come here anyway and say that I’m a louse,
but I won’t rest until we both have finished cleaning house!
* These are the expletives I had to take
out before posting because wifey said they don’t
accept swearing here. What a sissy site

He has a stalker
Getting to the bottom of it,
who hurt the duck
Hint dabbing
probing for intelligence
Sent seedy
email to duck
Containing x rated material,
I am suspicious
he might get hurt,
mad horrid
roaring sounds
With an awful
weird voice
Duck hell
He can
not sleep
Help
the little fellow,
we need to investigate probing
Keep filthy videos out
The duck
will never be the same
He is on valium
at the moment,
a vet
has been dispatched
By private helicopter
as we speak
He needed
to be treated for
Were do I start,
aggravated stress
brought on,
wait to you hear it
By that xrated video
Refusing to leave
the house
Scared he might
see that monster,
the video left
in his mind,
he knows now
what insanity is
he wont pass the door
The duck
ain't happy
Nearly blew
his mind,
ha ha ha
in stitches
You ain't seen
mad crazy duck
There aint no sunshine
bring it on
quack quack
He is gone
quackers
There is a fly
in the oinkment
Someone ate pork chops ,
the duck is in
a plucking bad mood,
threats of assassination
and shooting him
Leave me alone
you vile monsters,
talking of making
curry out of duck
dead remains
Scrambling the eggs and allsorts,
please anyone
with a heart shelter me
I am an old duck
Going grey in the feathers,
this all gives me such bad blood
at my age
We live in such a hostile world,
I have such a good family
They have protected me for years,
in the sanctuary
of beautiful hills
Always had peace and quiet,
no interference
from the out side world
Until now this carry on
demonic snuff videos
sent to duck ,
just wish
they could see my little heart
Have always been a good duck,
wouldn't hurt anyone
accept flies
My little eyes
cry tears of fear,
my life is being threatened
As I wipe the tears
with my wings,
now they are stuck
to my sides with so much fear
If only I could stretch my wings
In happiness
towards the sky,
like in my sheltered years
My wings always
opened for a hug,
why do you want me
to have such a cruel end,
like the pig pork chops
Beware of the wolf
in sheep's clothing
My dad taught me this,
he always made me feel 3 foot high
Hiding in the corn,
probing for intelligence,
a non smoking serial killer
Sent pictures of dead fellow ducks
on a plate,
had such beautiful adventures,
planning them in my mind,
now distorted with threats
You opened
a big can of worms
Threatening the life of this duck
Sending snuff videos
Of duck killers ,
help me find the killers
As they ain,t seen
crazy duck yet
She is the mastermind behind videos that appeal to the heart
always considering others she plucks the words that we impart
and gives them to the A I, we get music and imagery and art...
She is always thinking of others and putting a smile on their faces
a brilliant woman with so many talents and kindness you can't erase
a friend who is always there for you, with generosity in place...
Maria is a poet who understands my heart and soul to no end
oh how I wish she lived closer, for a teatime we could both attend
yes she is a wonderful pen pal companion and also a dear friend.
When my world is otherworldly...
Built and bent on friction,
Often I make my escape
Into a form of fiction.
Whether book, a game or film...
Whatever entertains,
Its makeup can expand my mind
Without loss - only gains.
Words of something I can read
Ignite my imagination...
I see what is written in
A vision of creation.
Short or long, it doesn't matter...
Images in my mind
Can leave my otherworldly world
Somewhere far behind.
When I play a game, I can
Go somewhere else and be
Somebody on another mission...
Someone unlike me.
Strategically, I make my way
Until its campaign ends.
I can do this by myself
Or engage with my friends.
Watching videos of shows,
Movies and otherwise
Provide a feast of visions for
My open, hungry eyes.
I prefer to separate
What I view on the screen
From what can sometimes be in life
Better unheard or seen.
Fiction in its many makes
Can open and inspire...
Igniting what can be ablaze
With its own flames of fire.
When your world is otherworldly,
Try a piece of fiction.
The answer can sometimes be found
In another's depiction.
Things I never knew I’d come to love
Sinking into this old leather chair, I never imagined I’d cherish it so much. Retirement’s first year has gifted me with time—time to sit, to think, to watch. Mediocre movies, once dismissed, now captivate me. Nigerian films, with their unique culture, have taught me so much. Though, I still can’t grasp the slaps and the “Are you mad?” lines. Some writers could do better, and the disrespect towards women is unbiblical.
I never knew I’d love my own company. Dining out no longer appeals like it used to. Making videos of my daily life, once a private affair, now feels like sharing a piece of my soul. What is privacy, if not isolation? I was meant to share my inner thoughts, my poems, my art with the world.
Life has no balance, they say, but to stay sane, we must find it. Helping others brings a joy I never knew. It’s a hope that they, too, might help someone someday. Some days, I feel complete, then fall back into uncertainty. I try to remember the color of silence—silence I never knew was a color.
Did ole boris? gisell'a; and eppy too, go full
Bore' at a menager'i au troix.? Are there
videos to view? Right now we are seeing much bally-who? Its a sleazy scene that invades
My mind.' I'm sure a tellin you
( its quite un-kind ') we hear of
ministrial errors.' We face lies, rumour;
and terrors; yet more..Reality is coming
out, the swamp now has bled, we see
trial and error; with great trails of dead' as survivours always the same have said. It seems the pitfalls are many, and the informaition
Comes in shreds, sickening visceral acts
Are relayed, there are claims and counter
Even legal process has been halted;
delayed and Re-started; relied upon, and yet seems distorted? A sad tale of those who our betters would be' ending up as also rans
In as far as good posterity, those who once
Assembled together, now scramble to hide
As we learn, at least six million pieces of our puzzle reside, in a justice system? plus only God knows what else besides.? The doings of darkness; by princes and popes.'
kings maybe cavorting..there is salasciousness by tropes, there is torture and gore; and painfull gripes, the drinking of blood this is evil rife.' Are there lucifarian
Interests? Illuminate these claims' good
Lord reveal all those, of in-fame..From gutter creepers, to filthy tunnel keeoers, let the evil fables be made open' even fabian troves, let us smash the bloodied altars
And up-root the darkling groves.'
All these are subjects of YouTube’s mostly entertaining short videos
Bet to win and dare the bucks
Largest fish escapes, oh shucks!
Splash for gold in running streams
Fight, defeat the scammer schemes
Finest meats define good life
Tricks to play on clueless wife
Cutting tuna into slabs
Uber stories from the cabs
Huge tornado wiping town
Zapped madman is going down
“Karen” yelling through the glass
Cats act funny, it’s a gas!
Dive from plane without a ‘chute
Bike the dicey mountain route
Road rage that rages on
Hellcat cars, in seconds gone
“First Amendment” and the cam
Guns ablazin’, bam-bam-bam
Fakey treasures found in rocks
Call locksmith to open locks
Nature – brutal, in your face
Dancing moves are full of grace
Wash the driveway, fix the car
Bucket list, of places far
Girls, long legs, mind-blowing trot
Stunning vehicles, can’t be bought
Instant karma to mean guys
Drones are falling from the skies
Stacks of money giveaway
Van, the road, to run away
Freeze your tail amidst the snow
Buy and fix old French château
Clever hacks and hidden ads
Greatest songs and latest fads
Magnet fishing, rusty guns
Ladies shake exquisite buns
Bombs, explosions, shootings, war
Tranquil morning at the shore
How rich live, a sneaky peek
Showing off one’s great physique
Love your pets, they love you back
Office battles, fend off flak
Talking heads of every kind
Kindhearted and unkind
Laugh and cry, be mad or frown
Distant land, your own town
Walk, aspire, speak your mind
Rare event or daily grind
There’s the tale of the world
Million stories being told
Universe to nanotube

Just about to launch a new career
Or maybe I should call it a hobby
Dani Spies has certainly caught my attention
With her mouth watering recipes
And easy step-by-step videos to help us along
I'm drooling all over the keyboard as I type
I'm always game to try something new
The payoff at the end is the ultimate reward
Now I hear some of you saying...
“Are you nutso!!! Aren't you kinda old
To be firing off in a new direction?”
My answer to that is, “I ain't dead am I?
I'm always ready for a new challenge!”
And boy, what a rewarding hobby... yum, yum!!!
I'll keep you posted as to how much weight I gain
(ie. One of the annoying side effects!)
Wish me luck all you nice people!
Next I'll have a show on PBS entitled
“Old Chefs Never Die
They Just Choke On Their Artichokes”
