Clone-God, Part I

It was in the year 2040,
in Vienna was where it all began,
folks were looking at the Lance on Longinus,
when they saw something they couldn’t understand,
on the spearhead was dried blood, from a man.
The faithful all proclaimed a miracle,
but science wanted to study this in full.

That, of course, caused lot son controversy,
some feared testing would destroy what they found,
and immigration had changed Europe,
local Islamists were soon coming around,
hating the implications of what was found,
they went to the museum, tried to burn it,
engulfed half of Vienna in a riot.

Given the conflict the discovery brought,
most realized it could not stay in this place,
after much debate a decision was made,
they would send it to the United States,
in hopes that there the lance would be more safe,
So science could find where the blood came from,
and disprove the rumors, which they thought were dumb.

So it was in Berkley, of all places,
that the ancient spear would find a new home,
there was all sorts of hub-bub when it arrived,
the media had a frenzy of their own,
the lab that got it soon became well known,
and Doctor Tom Wiseman soon got to work,
he doubted not the blood was of this Earth.

After six months of examination
they had isolated complete DNA,
and Tom was working very late one night
when to the janitor, Pete, he did say,
“It’s strange, the furor won’t go away.
We tell the believers it’s a normal stand,
but they do not care, still this it’s their 'God-man.'”

Pete just shrugged, said, “I suppose it makes sense,
it wasn’t DNA that made Jesus Lord.
it was supernatural, God’s presence,
the made the man so worshipped and adored,
a lot of people just seek something more.”
Tom just looked at him and said, “Petey, my friend,
I think you just helped me bring this to an end.”

He said later, at a meeting of trustees,
“I think we’ve an opportunity here,
a chance to prove Jesus was just a man,
free people from superstitions and fear.
We can finally make the truth quite clear.
I’ll make a clone with an artificial womb,
accelerate the growth, so we’ll have it soon.”

CONTINUES IN PART II.

Bidding For Brands

Boohoo is bidding for Boo-Boo
But Yogi’s not seeking a deal,
He’s scanning the park for a picnic
Looking forward to his evening meal.

Warner Brothers deny their involvement
So investors are kept in the dark,
But rumours are spreading ’round Bedrock
And the restrooms of Jellystone Park.

Boohoo is bidding for Boo-Boo,
It’s becoming a sought-after brand;
For Yogi it’s deeply upsetting
And he’s drawing a line in the sand.

This fetish for gobbling-up trademarks
Is addictive - a turbulent torrent,
So the trustees of Hanna-Barbera
Have rescinded Mister Ranger’s warrant.

Boohoo is loving the limelight,
Printing posters to boast of expansion.
Directors are driving round Dorset
Seeking out an available mansion.

Animated heroes fall silent,
Suppressing their deep-seated rage,
They’ve vowed to stop buying new costumes,
Thought bubbles stay blank on the page.

Snagglepuss is sacking his agent
Whose alibi soon fell to pieces,
Wacky Races have cancelled two meetings
Though Mister Jinks is still chasing meeces.

Huckleberry Hound is blue in the face,
So upset that he’s leaving his kennel tea.
Boohoo’s directors have not thought this through,
Analysts think they’ll soon pay a penalty.

Now Matalan, Primark and Peacocks
Are struggling hard to pay rates,
They see this young upstart named Boohoo
Just sealing competitors’ fates.

The Jetsons are locked in a hangar
Refusing to talk to the press,
While Cindy is comforting Yogi
Because bears aren’t accustomed to stress.

Just how many trademarks are needed
To cater for everyone’s tastes?
With so many trend-setters in lockdown
Periodically measuring waists.

The Jellystone team is downhearted
When they note that admissions are down,
With Boohoo now trashing their legacy
It’s the first time they’ve seen Muttley frown!

Yes, Boohoo is bidding for Boo-Boo,
It’s becoming a sought-after brand;
For Yogi it’s deeply upsetting
And the prospects for fashion seem bland.

Fleas

FLEAS

Alarm clock shows Saturday 7 30. Yes, please!
More sleep - a professional delight for this catcher of fleas.
For the present, I’m working from home at my ease
And my career may be in permanent economic squeeze.
Before Covid,my  daily branch-swing to work took 45 minutes in the trees;
Now no need to commute to the office on Saturdays.

Just swing down to breakfast….maybe cheese……..
Hope my wife has prepared something other than bananas and peas.
Gonna spend entire day working from home, charging no fees,
Checking the family fleas.
Uncle Bob always has some dragged in from the quays
Usually bigger males picked up somewhere is the seven seas.
So here’s me turning back Bob’s fur and straining to seize
The little moving pests, often down on my knees.

Bob  doesn’t like sitting rock-still like some flea-prison trustees;
Would rather be swinging in the breeze-filled trees.
But he will chat endlessly about the state of the G 7 economies,
The latest stats about Covid 19, or wasp-stings, or bees,
Vaccination rates and social distances the length of two-skis,
How many fleas are being chased out of hospitals or galleries,
How many Capitol senators are bitten in their arteries.

Bob assumes such chat is less tedious in my search to please,
But actually I would prefer silence so that I could watch in reprise
The next episode of ‘Life in the Amazon and Belize’ -
How the trainee-monkeys down south avoid cough or sneeze
Especially the sort carried by fleas.
Aided by techno stuff in 100 degrees
With medicines and vaccine from Buenos Aires.
Sooner or later my from-home job of ease
Will be under threat from medical monkey trainees.
Bob will have no more complaints about prison trustees or disease
And I’ll be able to go back swinging in the breeze
To the office on Saturdays
And read the latest research about fleas
South of the border or overseas.

Inheritance

We are guardians of the future are trustees for
posterity though wars galore are our legacy

We leave to our children the genocide in shining armour
destruction that we vowed not to happen again

Its all in the mind and however we feel not involved we
soak up the human condition promote it in our thoughts

At the airport I picked up two of my triplets 23 now and
                                                 with one staying behind 23 plus 23 plus 1 = 47

It should have been easy to remember my parking lot number
2 K 47 two kind children and one loved one missing

My age when I met my lover 47 the writers ‘group 47’ maybe
the white death hunger winter in Europe that time

47 days until Christmas and 2 Kinfolk to arrive yet I however
instead chose 2 AK 47’s as my mnemonic automatically

As in 2 angry Kalashnikov guns blazing me back to that dark
gloomy place where my car had been rested for later

What kind of light what remembrance and outlook on life has
been planted like a bomb in my destructive perception

Do I accept when words convoluted connotations sinister
aberrations seep and creep the into the percipience of what I call home

Or must I refuse not to become guilty of killing by proxy
of destroying the heirloom in mind and in spirit

By not standing up to that covert insidious manipulation and
domination taking place in my head I suppose I am guilty as charged

Eve of Deconstruction

The Buffalo church, it is implodin'
Rhetoric flarin', parishes unloadin'
We're good enough to give, but have no say in votin'
You don't believe in division, but what's that decree your totin'
You fired our trustees and now you're gloatin'

But you tell me over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of deconstruction

Don't you understand what we're tryin' to say?
And can't you feel the fears we're feelin' today?
If the buildings gone, many souls will drift away
How you gonna save them before they reach the grave
Take a look around you, oye, it's bound to scare you, oye

And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of deconstruction

Yeah, we are so mad, about this devastation
We're sittin' here just contemplatin'
Yes you claim your truth, but twist your regulations
Handful of prelates don't pass legislation
And merging alone can't bring integration
When parishioner respect is disintegratin'
This Die-or-Cease is just too frustratin'

And you tell me over and over and over again, my friend
Ah, you don't believe we're on the eve of deconstruction

Think of all the hate there is against religion
Then take a look around to that which you are creatin'
Ah, you may go on retreat, for days of grace
But when you return, it's the same old place
The flappin' of the gums, the pride Mass of disgrace
You can bury your deeds, but don't leave a trace
Close our next door parish, tell us how we rate

And tell me over and over and over again, my friend
You don't believe we're on the eve of deconstruction

No, no, you don't believe we're on the eve of deconstruction

Fruit Fairies

Green luscious trees sway gracefully in breeze
humming song sung by work pollen bees
baby fruits cradled not yet ripen to fall
many are ready but some still too small

Laden with fruit rich, juicy and ripe
natures jewels sparkling delights
oranges, plums, pears, apples galore
once tasted you will always want more

Raspberries, strawberries and currants of blue
beautiful colours all natural and true
blackberries, apricots, gooseberries green
melons and mangoes even tangerines

Lemons so bright bed lights to be seen
fruit fairies dancing among all the green
they are the guardians who nurture them all
working and caring protectors when called

Unicorn sprinkles star dust they apply
diamonds drop dews, rain from the sky
foods for the fruits all natural and clean
no chemicals be used, always grown green

As dusk draws in, their wings tired and slow
fireflies wake lights delicately glows
lay rest their heads on white cotton to sleep
eyes tiredly shut no fairy does peep

Fruit salad, fruit medley bring such harmony
all healthy when eaten moderately
so children when mum and dad say this be true
fruit fairies grew these especially for you

If you hear little laughter or feel tickle of air
know that a fairy is very near
happy, smiling, flying with glee
healthy our children - earth future trustees

The Bow That Bridges Heaven

He wrangled with his world, found a way to cross the seas
on merchant boats brimful of slaves, bound for British shores.
Innumerable are the things that we shall never know;
amazing, those things to which destiny holds the keys.

As a captain of slave ships, raw pain he thought to ease;
yet, time after time, clouds filled his skies with fear and dread.
“God laughed at my calamity,” he would say later when he found
the bow that bridges heaven and seeks a God to please.

He met with Wilberforce, a man settled on his lees,
challenged him, as abolitionist for slavery.
Years passed, but emancipation passed as English law.
The bow that bridges heaven, mankind from bondage frees.

John Newton is his name; He’s one of heaven’s trustees.
Inspired he wrote, Amazing Grace, which brings to my mind
the rainbow - God’s own honored promise to keep His word.
The bow that bridges heaven and keeps us on our knees.

January 24 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Exodus 19-21

Key Verse – Exodus 19:3-4 And Moses went up unto God, and the LORD called unto him out of the mountain, saying, Thus shalt thou say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel; Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

PRAISE BE TO GOD WHO BEARS US ON EAGLES’ WINGS

Praise be to God for bearing us on eagles’ wings to:
Bring us to His will as His peculiar treasures
Bless us by His ways as His privileged trustees
Build us up by His Word as His profitable teachers
Brace us along His ways as His provided trainees

Exodus 20:5 Praise be to the Lord for declaring to us
that He is a jealous God; thus, we must:
Love Him wholeheartedly
Listen to Him well
Lean on Him willingly
Learn from Him wisely
Look to Him worshipfully

Exodus 21:3 Praise be to the Saviour for appointing a place
for us so we can stay in His fortress, fleeing from:
Temptations and disaster
Trials and difficulties
Tests and despair
Tribulations and deceit
Travails and discouragements
Troubles and dread
Threats and disarray
Terrors and dismay. Amen!
