It usually takes me an hour to drive to the shore.
If the traffic is heavy, it may take a little more.
Along the boardwalk and marina, there are many a casino.
I can take my pick with which one to go.
I don’t have to put extra mileage on that car of mine.
Now all I have to do is visit online.
For those rather long distances, I no longer have to roam.
It is legal for me to play in my own home.
The number of different games I can try is plenty.
There is only one requirement for eligibility.
I must prove that I am a resident of New Jersey.
No longer is it necessary to travel by train or bus.
The transportation can cause a lot of fuss.
There is no need to fill up my car with gas.
However, with this internet deal, I think I will pass.

Premium Member How To Slow Down Time

Walk everywhere. Go on long sea voyages;
Ask for days like symphonies of slow music,
banks of blue flowers to wrap you in the moment.
Become immersed in watching clouds
spiders building their webs.
Travel by the slowest modes of transport.
Ride a camel, camp out in the desert.

Move into a museum and declare it real time.
Dress in a crinoline. Decorate your room with
fossils. Read endless books- make your own wine .
Churn your own butter. Grow a garden.

When all else fails,
pull the hands off clocks. Declare it a crime to tell
 time.
Hang curtains on the daylight. Hold back the sea.
Ruin the sun and cycles that turn,
annihilate the moon - close the doors on eternity.

Premium Member Honor Killing

Is this an exception? Isn’t inter-caste marriage a taboo even today in the Indian sub-continent? Being born into two contradicting castes yet mad in love for each other, they knew their kith and kin would let them not live together. They decided to go far away from the inhuman world. They knew they’d be easily tracked were they to travel by bus or train or airplane. They walked through the hills and vales eating from the plants, drinking from the streams, and resting under trees. Lo! They surrounded them. The villains of love! Torturing them, slaughtering, they threw them in the Holy River who could not swallow up their holy bodies rather floated them in procession.

hands held together
two lovely wedded angels
to eternity

“Since formation in 2014, Telangana has witnessed at least 50 murders related to inter-caste love liaisons and marriages” – Deccan Chronicle, Thursday, June 10, 2021.

Premium Member Inspiring Travels Across the Country

To write means being calmly relaxed
it's so soothing upon one's mind
giving the words freedom to flow
loosen one's self to be no longer blind

It's so inspiring to travel by coach
looking across the green pleasant land
such magnitude of the mountainous hills
the Scottish landscape makes one stand

As I sit always on the window side
the scenery a feast upon the eye
words come full of insightful truths
desires full of ink penning sky high

It's always a joy to write on a coach
the mind dreams of another kind
filled with sugar sweet all things nice
my hand writes forever signed

My trips south, north, east and west
uphill down dale so expectant
bringing inspiration to my heart
this makes one look so aspectant

(I have written this to show the places where I find the most inspiration to write my poetry.)

When In Rome

A free afternoon
So we heeded advice.
We strolled by the river;
The streets did entice.

We wandered down alleys
In neighborhoods where
Unexpectedly, ruins
Cropped up here and there.

To keep us from flagging,
I turned to gelato.
My spouse had espresso -
He liked it a lotto.

But when we were ready
To hit the hotel,
We vetoed a taxi,
For back where we dwell...

We travel by subway,
By foot or by bus.
It's quick and it's cheap,
Which of course is a plus.

Yet we're tourists and don't
Know the routes, like at home
But we figured - we'll ask.
After all, when in Rome...

So we purchased two tickets
And made our way back
By bus and by subway;
The code we did crack...

With the help of some locals,
For at every station
Were "Grazies"* and smiles,
Which don't need a translation.

*thank you in Italian

Theatrics

Every time you turned your back,
I walked around to meet you face to face.
And all the times you said;
"I'll come by later"
I knew you wouldn't
But, I waited just in case.

For all the times you said I love you,
That warm embrace so sincere.
How often you must have rehearsed those lines while standing in your mirror.

Tell me, when did your emotions audition?
When did we begin these pointless charades?
Did the curtains lift, was there silence,
Did the lights in the theater slowly fade?

Did you receive a standing ovation for your performance? Every act and scene another humiliating smack across my face. Every lie and every line that you've spoken, another stone you firmly set in its place.

Well, now the stones have piled up between us.
I can no longer travel by your side.
I leave no malice in my departure.
May happy thoughts with you abide.

Because i myself am no actor.
Too many lines to memorize.
Too many stories filled with nothing. Just a facade placed upon hollow eyes.

Take a good look at your stage someday.
That hateful shrine of carelessness.
At all the masks that you have worn,
To hide the face beneath that i loved the best.

Premium Member On My Way To School

I din't travel by bus to school
Neither did my mother drive me there
With my friends and cousins
I had the best of childhood fun
During my primary school days
On my way to school

Early start from home
The tropical sun was warm
Kids from the neighborhood
Joined as we marched by
To feel the magic of the forest
On my way to school

Avoiding the main road
And the cobbled village lane
Away from the adult eyes
Swayed by the occult cries
Of the magic creepy crawlies
On my way to school

Shuffling through the silky webs
Of the watchful Arachno- spies
Slowing at the sight of scorpions
And the scurrying beetles and centipedes
We bent and crawled in the woods
On our way to school

The subtle sweet taste
Of the wild cardamoms
Was hardly enough to suck
and spit the pungent seeds
Yet it was a weird delicacy
On my way to school

Shiny purple Passion fruits
Velvety blue wild olives
Inky violet Bovitiyas
Rasamora and blackberries
Stimulated the taste buds
On my way to school

The years have gone by
Dwellings have reached the sky
Cobbled lane has disappeared
Motor cars are revered
I wander what the kids do now
On their way to school

Premium Member The Co-Traveler

It was one of the red-eye flights I got,
Everything went dark as we started to depart.
He seemed pleasant in his appearance,
I exhibited my great scholarly brilliance.
In matters of poetry, science, finance…
I found him maintaining innocent silence.
I switched on my subject to travel by flight,
Ticket prices, I said, are touching the height.
I swore at the system and the owners,
That often they behaved as though loaners.
The comforts they give is sheer meager,
And in mere business they are eager.
Take any owner, I said, for instance,
Rich, richer and richest is their existence…
The business they perform just one percent,
The profit they earn as though cent percent.
Well, the system has fully gone to dogs,
Will it possible for dogs to become gods?
Thus I poured out my entire grievance,
As though with him I had great vengeance…
He seemed not to criticize my comment,
Nor did he ever my statements amend.
As the trip was almost coming to an end
And the crew started the announcement
I introduced myself very elaborately
And seemed response from him generously…
I saw him taking a card from his pocket
That resembled an artistic locket
I read the details and fell silent
As though all my vanities came to an end…
Alas! He’s the proprietor of many a such flight
Which I was criticizing with all my might…
I woke up ashamed, shocked from my deep sleep,
To find none nearby but the lights loudly beep…
My neighbor on the flight was my red-eye dream,
The Questioner and the question were me, the same.

First trip was at Kuala Lumpur
Flight was always delayed due to a strong down pour

Second trip was at Langkawi
So giddy when our ferry boat sails on the sea

Third trip was at Penang
Thought we’ll travel by train on land

Having now my very first travel insurance
Hello! I prefer to travel by foot on land!
