Theatrics
Every time you turned your back, I walked around to meet you face to face. And all the times you said; "I'll come by later" I knew you wouldn't But, I waited just in case. For all the times you said I love you, That warm embrace so sincere. How often you must have rehearsed those lines while standing in your mirror. Tell me, when did your emotions audition? When did we begin these pointless charades? Did the curtains lift, was there silence, Did the lights in the theater slowly fade? Did you receive a standing ovation for your performance? Every act and scene another humiliating smack across my face. Every lie and every line that you've spoken, another stone you firmly set in its place. Well, now the stones have piled up between us. I can no longer travel by your side. I leave no malice in my departure. May happy thoughts with you abide. Because i myself am no actor. Too many lines to memorize. Too many stories filled with nothing. Just a facade placed upon hollow eyes. Take a good look at your stage someday. That hateful shrine of carelessness. At all the masks that you have worn, To hide the face beneath that i loved the best.
