"Nine Inch Nails, Ten Pins and the Purl Stitch"
She takes the cake
they offer, chewing too rapidly,
she Shrews when she speaks
I’ll beat warpath drums, she says,
no mistake
I’m a groper ... goody two shoes
she says
mouth wide open
songs problematic
she's done and she's gone
a stitch loose in the weave
drop one pearl one
dropped
gone
for kissing small bait in the shallows
she circles her quarry
bites their backs
she sits astride
the legs of a hot gripping story
sits like a monkey
begging for peanuts
she spits in comments
I'm thoroughly congruent
in moments of questionable torrent
I am all here
dear boy
dear girl
knit one
drop one pearl hooray
I am all here, here hearing
all seeing, all knowing
I throw it back
and I’ll give you
the crux of the crutch
all knowing
make no mistake.
my good god
I don’t care
I don’t care
do we care?
I don’t care.
truly I eat their sour pears,
place more wax in my ears
she throws pearls
decorously adorning
the minds of sows’ rears
left wing molting
a mouth full of feathers
right wing feeding them
she’s all knowing
bling bling bling bling
bling bling
bowling ball glowing
Ten pins
preparing minds
sharp needles
and yarns
Purl Stitch
knit one,
drop one
knit one
drop one
win

We're so sorry, uncle Albert
But we haven't done a bloody thing all day
We're so sorry, uncle Albert
But the kettle's on the boil
And we're so easily called away
Hands across the water, water
Heads across the sky
Hands across the water, water
Heads across the sky
"Sit by my side, and let the world slip: we shall ne'er be younger."
"There's small choice in wrotten apples".
"If I be waspish, best beware my sting.”
Madagascar where did you go
For weeks you came to my picnic
My sanctuary
Unceremoniously and unwanted
And mostly uninvited
Like the proverbial red ants
Like a lover I once knew
Everyday ... there you were
A lemur
A chameleon
Perched on my blanket of poetry
Staring with those curious eyes
Yearning for validation
And perhaps a future visit
I must admit you're a nuisance
A pop-up, a laugh, a nightmare
For weeks on end I saw your faces
Burning in my memory
Trolled and uncontrolled
Now that you're gone
I look out the window
I imagine lions, giraffes, and rhino's
Running wildly towards my picnic

Note-for weeks on end, I would come to this site and be inundated with ads. The Madagascar ad takes the cake. Lately it's gotten worse.
Regina city councillors under fire
For ad campaign’s not looked at prior
How someone did not think to inquire
Check the news if you think me a liar
This province had some odd news breaks
Like the Tim Hortons with the snake…
The moose in the school for hoof’s sake
But this capital city goof takes the cake
I suppose they were hoping for a laugh
Now it looks like there’ll be some new staff
The response may still be half and half
Talked about around the coffee carafe
They’ve taken a lot of flack in the past
Tried to steer into the skid at last
That plan backfired pretty damn fast
A collective face palm, country vast
A headline that didn’t need to be spun
With marketing that cannot be undone
Since the new slogan that they chose to run
Is : “The city that rhymes with fun”…..
** Slogan since retracted by Experience Regina
Still Managed to make International headlines, well done...
The day they kidnapped you
Was the day I found myself lost.
I found myself mostly numb
In a frosted layer of my own tears --
My eyes now dried out from
Years of overuse.
I've never missed something this badly,
Even after losing my own dad.
Sadly this takes the cake.
I almost feel inhuman for feeling this way.
But isn't that what I am now since you fled?
The monster under my childhood's bed?
One of a total of eight -
One for every forsaken flame
That kept the fire of my childlike zeal burning -
And eight years of work still can't raise the flame from its slumber.
Forgive me
In the chill of loneliness' cavern
I've forgotten the fondness of a smiling heart,
Or the levity of laughter's luxury.
I have lost the grail of passion,
And a passion for people.
People --
Love
People laugh
People listen
People link arm to arm
And lean closer
Eye to eye
Bonded by the light transmitted between them.
I am not people.
I am not persons.
I am but deserted versions of
burdens long forsaken,
behind the curtains of sermons sung
and versus not forgotten,
yet buried under the misery of betrayal's semblance
Remember
Meekness
Patience
Temperance
Gentleness -
These are healing balms
From the palms of Gilead
In symbolic remembrance
Of the one whose palms hold the bonds of light
Which people transmit -
Who submitted His will
And became Grace itself.
These are sermons sung
And versus not forgotten,
And my shaking soul
Left lifting its melodies
In search of the harmony that will
Someday heal its scars.
I am the lamb
written into each palm.
I am the woman
who draws from His healing balm.
I am the human
whose imperfections only grace can heal
into sacred psalms of eternal calm.
I am
the lamb of
I am -
The only way
the only truth
the only life
the only one.
Vile creatures write bibles in a hole
Cursed with powers out of control
To take what is not theirs, that is the goal
Satanic smiles saved for such occasions
In seclusion they build commandments
Create wars, massacre the masses, laugh
In their souls darkness starts with madness
Intentions are so simple posed in words
Babies cry out from their protected womb
Evil hears them long before their birth
Sprinkled like fairy dust the demons come
Disarming in charm, there to lead them on
Fresh to the taste of life in air the infants take
Breathe their first breath through labor pain
Laid bare and frankly, dangerous
They scream out loud for no apparent reason
Monstrous men are there to give them death
Stalin knew how to butcher thoroughly
Five million at a time, his own people died
He takes the cake for killings in the millions
But one creature stands alone in mass murder scored
So much for Socialism and history recorded
Who controls the agriculture in the land of China
And the movement that caused a curse on all humanity
Down to the last dead babies soul left in the soil
“The Great Leap Forward” mass starvation stands alone
Fresh from the womb into the arms of doom forever
Chairman Mao Zedong is that master, the face of evil ever after

Okay people, enough is enough
What's happening with this crazy weather
Cold enough to freeze the tootsies off a penguin
The eskimos are all huddled together
So far this winter's been the coldest in years
Certainly not a very happy camper
Civilized people shouldn't have to live like this
Us guys just love to be pampered
In all my years, through each Canadian winter
This one surely takes the cake
Not at all pleased, just want you to know
This is more than this guy can't take
If I knew who to contact I'd pay big dollars
For the sake of all mankind
Beg them to moderate these winter temps
To warm up mankind's behind

I was walking down the street,
One Thursday morning of last week,
Complaining about my self-defeat….
My car was down with a flat,
And inside was my 3 year old cat,
Taking a nap in my new cowboy hat.
34 degrees outside, really cold,
Refusing to do what I was told,
I was now faced with the reality,
That the only one to blame for this…
Was me.
I was late for work,
And my boss was being a jerk,
I didn’t feel like hearing his mouth.
Tried catching the bus,
Missed it and then started to fuss,
And even started to cuss….
A shot of Jack wouldn’t help this case,
It was clearly something I had to face….
I couldn’t make the feelings go away….
Let’s just face it…
That day was a bad day.
I had a few dollars to my name,
Walking with my head in complete shame,
Totally felt like a lame….
Ugh, I hate this rhyming game….
My phone fell on the ground and cracked,
And I instantly felt a sharp pain in my back,
I feel like I’m under attack.
This has not been my day,
I want it to go away,
And go away now,
So can somehow tell me how….
Tell me how to smile in the midst of this…
With everything that has happened to me….
I’ve heard of bad days,
But this takes the cake.
Maybe when I get back home,
With no intention to weep,
I’ll sit on my bed….
Lay down,
And proceed to go to sleep.
No more bad days….
No more….
On the street.
Want to eat.
Virus clown
shut stores down.
Pastry shop!
I will stop.
Cakes and pies -
sweet surprise.
I smell those
with my nose.
Man in mask
starts to ask . . .
Fresh pie or
petit four?
Two of each.
Make them peach.
Donut too.
That will do.
Seeing that
I feel fat!
But I pay
and I say:
Where to sit
to eat it?
Strain to hear
words unclear.
Realize
with my eyes . . .
space too small
wall to wall.
Six foot rule
not too cool.
Drop on street
every treat.
Dogs run by.
Lick each pie.
Leave no crumb.
I feel dumb.
Covid takes
even cakes.

"Well, I'm sorry but this is boring and your list of fines, it's got me snoring and I don't mean to be ignoring you but pouring out my story won't make my driving less deploring so I guess what I'll admit is that some of these tickets are legit but I wish you would just quit having this fit, since there really was no marking saying no parking and my dogs are really barking. So let's hurry this towards an end, is driving backward really so absurd? I won't pretend no accidents occurred but from what I heard it could be worse, for pete sakes it was only some defective brakes, this really takes the cake for such a small mistake, and sometimes I think they're just too bright so I drive at night with no headlights and you might think you're right but did we really need a seatbelt when we felt we were held in by more people than seats dealt? It just doesn't make sense, it's only an expired license! It's all in the past tense and I don't appreciate your comments about that ticket so I'll tell you where to stick it!
I will pay the speeding one, I was needing just a little fun and may have missed reading the sign that would be heeding the speed in which I should have gone, so there, I said that I was wrong now here's some cash to pay this con, I had to pawn some things of mine to pay this fine and I don't mean to cross a line or hold things up while I whine but since you think you're so devine, and I don't even really mind paying all the powers that be, that tower over at the DMV but it really tends to sour me when I've been waiting for how many hours? 3!!!"
