I am a cat, at home I’m Ollie
But fellow cats know real name
“Intrepid Vic”, I dig that, golly
Grey tiger, finest at his game
I am the boss around here
Them humans lacking any wit
In house of mine they live, oh dear
We take up space in even split
They’re sort of fun to be around
I’m free to roam, eat and sleep
They give me hugs, but I may frown
No mucho fondling or I leap!
There’s plenty do around the castle
Lick milk, meow and preen myself
To tug on curtain’s bushy tassel
And jump to kitchens’ highest shelf
To scratch the pole, chase own tail
Lay on keyboard when daddy writes
And have a drink without fail
I love the dripping faucet pipes
This cat hates bathing with a passion
The tongue is all you need, capeeche?
A counter walk is still in fashion
As diet of livers and the fish
Be engine to the cat-drawn carriage
Kids want to have for their doll
I play good sport, so I can manage
Paw dinner meat and have a ball!
To walk around, rubbing lightly
Against the people and the turfs
Affection? Nay, we rather rightly
Stake claim to lands, you naive serfs
The backyard run is fun and game
Chase birds and squirrels sans result
Stop screaming your approval, dame
I brought you mouse, not insult!
The fight with neighbors’ cat is tricky
We hate each other, what a schmuck
And stray feline escapes the quickie
Love interest gone, I’m out of luck
Then watch TV about tabbies
High time to purr enjoying snack
Dive into fishbowl acting grabby
Ascend the tree for doggie pack
Kids drive me crazy with a laser
I drive them nuts by hiding mum
Love being family’s hell-raiser
At times I’m meek but never dumb
A blade of grass to treat a sickness
Do know exactly what I need
And have that fur to show for slickness
“Meow the kitties!” is my creed
To plan a day some quiet time
I need in total solitude
Slink into curve ball for bedtime
Wake humans early for my food
This life’s intense and full of peril
And so much fun, it’s cats’ delight
Plans for tomorrow? They are feral
I have to sleep on them tonight

Oh how I do love cats.
Not rats or bats,
Spats or hats;
(although I do own a chapeau or two).
I love cats of all sizes, colors and shapes;
even though they get in a lot of scrapes.
I love calicos, tabbies, marbled too;
I really love a Persian Blue.
I love them whether they have boots or socks;
I adore all their furry frocks.
Short-haired, long-haired, cats are great;
With cats, I love to celebrate.
They bring such joy and elation;
but, when they get in an altercation,
I calm them with my guitar strings;
cats do love to hear folks sing.
They stop to listen to my songs,
but they definitely don’t like drums or gongs.
So I sing and they calm down;
quite tranquil then’s, my kitty-crowd.
There was an old cat who thought he was cool
Rantin' til it made him look like a fool
I heard some folks say
"He's a motley stray"
Hissin' 'bout stuff just like a right paw tool
Black cats ran him out of their neighborhood
Talkin' smack like he lived in Hollywood
He sat on the fence
Tellin' us we're dense
Gruff Gus, said he's always misunderstood
White felines laughed at him behind his back
Cuz Gus lived on the wrong side of the track
They held a meetin'
Without the cretin
I heard them whisperin' the word, 'bushwhack.'
So the story goes, Gruff Gus disappeared
American Tabbies gleefully cheered
Something had transpired
Gus was undesired
He's mortified that his head had been sheared
On starry nights the tabbies walk
in shadow lands of harmonic balance,
for tabby cats of orange descent
shine their light amid moon-glow.
Psychic cats in other world duty
see with eyes that pierce through night;
where stalking shadows are just plain spooky
orange striped spirits calm the fright.
Every living being that exists
has its’ very special purpose;
orange stripes of these shamanists
imprison evil that might resurface.
Feline specters in dew-laden mists
offer up their spiritual energies;
for earth’s protection they persist
in guarding Gaia’s spiritual seas.
I get on with life as a linguist
I'm a strong kind of person I like walking the dogs on Sundays
My Kitty charm
I love soul more than heart a strong kind of linguist
I like practicing guitar in the week after work
I like to contemplate your humanity heart
And when I start to daydream
You don't want to be Pekingese like me
My Kitty charm
I love soul more than heart some strong kind of linguist
Just stop you're casting now
I live my life as I am
Silent wow
Love is like the beagle
I need your tabbies
Come let's frolic and cuddle and chase
This ball of twine funny thing is you're always be mine
I love soul more than heart a strong kind of linguist
WoW
Meow, My Kitty charm

Aunt Marilda’s house and closet were full of felines of all types.
long-haired, short-haired, tabbies, pumas, and mice-hunting snipes.
we knew what we were inheriting when she passed on a rainy day.
who is going to clean out those animals? Asked persnickety aunt Kay.
there were live ones in addition to the ones on the chairs in the kitchen.
my aunt was irritated about her hoarder sister, she could not stop ’n.
six nieces and one nephew were not eager to stay for the show.
there were three living sisters, and they were all “in the know”.
Gladys took the closet, Stephanie and Yvetee cleaned out her stove.
there surely is not a cat inside that! Said my uncle who hid in an alcove.
they are everywhere! Said a niece who had brought along six live traps.
she had already caught sixteen of them and said “maybe this is a wrap!”
Aunt Marilda’s pots and pants, curtains, and shower stall all had cats.
some sat on their plump oversized bottoms; some were chasing rats.
one cat way up high hissed at everyone who came anywhere near.
cat shoes were found in the closet. Steph yelled “Marilda is here!”
we nieces and nephews were not sure exactly what she meant.
until we began smelling cinnamon, cloves, and peppermint.
popular scents of Aunt Marilda, her spirit must be quite near.
uncle yelled at the cat “Marilda, get your petootsie down here!”
Black cat jumped off the counter as if he had fallen from a nest.
Leaped onto Uncle’s shirt and slid down, tearing up his chest.
It’s Marilda all right! Uncle yelped. She always despised me.
His sisters cackled like witches as they drank their orange tea.
Fire sparks, dragon scales, Lucy's hair
If I were limited to seeing and wearing one color
it would be orange
Bright vivid neon orange in paisleys or polka dots
Not the orange of tabbies, but the glowing gleaming orange
of the most vivid leaf you have ever hoped to see
Orange dazzles my eyes out. If I could find orange underwear
In my size 9's, I would run around lifting up my gypsy skirt
Orange in my jewelry, orange in my shoes. Orange, orange, orange!
Sure, you say. She is probably lying. Come see my house.
It is done up in Oranges, yellows and pinks, and if I had to lose two
Of these colors, sorry yellow and pink, but you would have to go
I want fire engines to be orange. I want stop signs to be orange
I want the whole wold to be the color of prancing, angry hot flames
Orange I say. Orange I yell! Orange I am. Prancy, dancy, orange.
It's party time again, my furry friends!
Come see the pretty table set for you!
With cups and saucers, teapot- my call sends
an invitation- now come all, please do!
Quick came two Tabbies, one Tuxedo cat,
and our sweet Border Collie, I call Sam-
along with Teddy, who so quickly sat
and growled, "Yes, I am furry too- I am!"
They pay attention to the tales I tell-
to entertain while we all sit and drink.
I know they like my stories very well-
they look at me with happy eyes that wink!
Oh, I'm so very happy when we meet-
enjoy our teatime fun, just them and me.
Our cozy gatherings are such a treat!
I share my love with them- not just my tea!
A Story from My Heart
Kelly was a Red Tabby and a contemplative soul!Elena, my daughter used to put him in her doll buggy and walk him around the house. How he loved those rides!
History. I found Kelly near Chinatown in San Francisco, on a busy street in a teeny garden bed. Noisy cable cars, passing by!
I picked him up and went to apartments, nearby. Nobody was the owner! So I hailed a cab and took him home.
Back then, nobody fretted over cat diseases or wondered, if a cat was neutered
I just brought him home to my Calico, Luvey!
My cats had to be calicos or red tabbies only. My present feine is Irene, also a Calico. Our feral outdoors cat is a Calico.
Luvey accepted Kelly instantaneously, like a part of the family.
They were like sister and brother. We took him to the vet, had him fixed. He died from Kidney disease, he had to be put down.I laid on the floor in the vet lobby and had a tantrum, like a kid! I was so attached to that guy. He was in
misery the last few weeks of his loving life.
The Calico, Luvey, outlived him. Sle got to age 25! That one fell out of a three story window..I found her in the morning. She was limping, that’s all. I
told my fiancé, I wanted her checked out. So, took her in,
The vet showed me..ugh...she cracked her palate, which required surgery, and after that, they could not wake her! I said, “I will come down and wake her!!l”
She was lying, almost dead in the bottom of the cage.
I opened the door and said my magic words ” Mommy is here!” She woke up
She lived to be twenty-five years old! Luvey had a heart attack while being examined for a bad cold. I sat in a room, and talked to that dead cat and sang to her for 45 minutes. Those were precious moments.
May she Rest In Peace! Luvey was a tiny cat. And my first. A boyfriend brought her to me. I said, “I don’t want a cat!!.
Hal said, “give her a try for one night!!
That transformed into 25 awesome years...
Addenda~ A Shining Memory
One Christmas, I walled Kelly down the long hall in our
apartment building...His leash was thick, forest green tinsel!
A most loving companion, beloved by all my neignors.
I still miss him, though decades have flown away!
