Once too I hung on the brink
listening to the melancholy cry of seagulls,
their white bodies strewn out like prayer flags,
tiny on the surface of the sea.
Wishing I could cast all of life's pain away,
a heavy shipment of regrets and shattered promises,
let it all sail far away.
In a desolate harbour enlightened only by the moon,
a lone shadow casts itself onto the weed-strewn pavement.
Feet itching to move but the brain with no destination to speak of.
Flee to the sea or hide at home?
Once too I stood on that abyss,
always wondering about the end
yet never of creating a new beginning.
Poets question why our heart aches,
pessimists say we've long forgotten our dreams,
I ask why I wake up every morning.
Until you made me understand.
Your smile, ethereal beams of light,
breaking through the morning frost of night.
Your voice, a beckoning bell.
Like a child, learning how to walk,
I stumble and crawl away from the darkness.
You called upon happiness from the depths of my heart
where I didn't know it could ever exist.
From ES to ES
Here’s the thing
I don’t really know
What life would be if I declared the truth
I heard you say you were unlovable
Yet I declined to speak
A Delorean moment
An everlasting “if only…”
A coward’s regret
All of that and more
The life I could have had
A haunting presence as I pace my cell
It seems supreme but who can tell?
Here’s the thing
I haven’t got a clue
What makes you tick and gets you feeling good
I idolize your ever little nuance
Pretend I mean as much to you
A hypothetical perfect match
A theoretically blessed union
An ineffably joyous pairing
As only I could conjure up
The wife I could have had
A loving presence as I stumble through the day
Appears so dear but who can say?
Here’s the thing
I’m in the dark
As to the thing that could have made me yours
And now I’m sure you’ve heard the news
I hope at least it took you by surprise
An unspeakable crime
A horrifying action
A man you thought you know
Who used to make you laugh
The life we could have had
A sobering presence but I hope you’re living well
I bet you are but who can tell?
Torrents of thoughts torment me
Floodgate of distractions rack my soul
Avalanche of delusions
Decapitate my mental faculty
As I muse over the degeneration
That has dogged my beloved country
She manifests every aspect
Of a failed state
The giant of Africa has lost control
Of her Territory to terrorists
Bandits have re-colonized my fatherland
Kidnappers strike terror into the hearts
Of weary and hapless Nigerians
While her economy continues to
Stumble and wobble with ignominy
In the hands of oil thieves
The ancient perpetrators of
rape
Against our father land
Are shamelessly like vultures
Gathering and flying over
The carcass of the comatose nation
To gang-rape her to death
Arise fellow Nigerians and stand firm
Let us take our country back
From chaos to path of sanity
Now or later
Later or now
Will have you wondering how
How can we
Not see what it means to be
Means to be
What does that mean
Read between
Your dreams
Fulfill them
Don't just dream
Live In them
Plan them out
Do the hardwork
It pays off
There will be hard days
This is not meant for the soft
Look at the cloth
It's made different and unique
The right stitches makes it complete
Take a seat
You've done your best
This is what we call success
At its best
You ask how I do it or who I do it for
It's supernatural for sure
I do it for me and The lord
Trying to get on one accord
He makes my worries
Dissappear in a hurry
He is my strength on my weakest days
He lifts the load we carry
He comfort and protects
When I think of him
He never rejects
He knows that I am a vessel and he is in control
When I feel I'm falling into pieces He let's me know he's in control
Now I've come to the conclusion
That I am this and that
I am the award
That's a fact
I am so honored that you care
I love you are always there
And you spare me daily
I'm thankful I was worth saving
Thank you for paving
The way
Thank you for keeping me safe
Now is the time to be kind
And grateful and humble
Even if you stumble
Don't crumble
You got it
Together
You are clever
Your focus on now
Prepares you for later
Your later prepares you for greater.

There are words spoken , to be commenced
It is never good in situations to be silenced
A wrongful demand from another steals rest
Yet other times in life, silence is best
Words of truth are to be forever honored
Even coming from any path that is wandered
This is when the choice made is pertinent
knowing there are people who won't repent
These choices can change a moment or life
They can calm chaos or ignite strife
In time with practice, it is learned
How to bring good things or to be burned
When the sun shines or the thunder rumbles,
Remember this choice to prevent stumbles

Daylight is greeted with the horrific stench of food chunks
swimming in stomach acid, dribbling onto bed sheets.
Accompanied with the embarrassment of
brown syrup puddle stains.
Head is pounding
like a hammer - hammering nails into the skull.
Cumbersome movements drag drowsy flesh to the mirror,
as bloodshot eyes with yellow hue, glare in reflection.
Exhausted hands rub dense stubble,
as heavy eye lids struggle to stay open.
A cocktail of coffee and a cold shower
comfort this somber slumber.
Mouthwash and mints help disguise
the fragrance of yesterday's session with Bourbon.
Continuous sips of water, attempt to quench sultry thirst,
but the blandness cannot douse untamed flames.
Especially as days consist of sitting
surrounded by monotonous blank walls,
and staring at cracks on a vase -
silently watching wilted flowers crumble.
Struggling to defeat temptation from fermented demons,
summoned by cravings for that burning sensation,
the tongue cries for mercy.
Infiltrates the mind luring it to
lust for sour liquid passion
that infuses the bloodstreams.
Hands trembling, parched lips quivering -
only golden nectar can ease the pain.
No need for a glass, as bottle is devoured,
with momentary pauses of 'aaahhhhh.'
So begins the daily quest,
to suffocate every sorrow.
To feel numb upon request,
with no care for tomorrow.
Favouring fantasy over reality,
each drop kills the pain.
The bitter sweet taste is a lethal injection,
but the numbness helps to feel perfection.
In a place where nobody notices -
alcoholic symphonies lead to intoxicated sympathy.
To deal with being alone, to forget the world,
to forget the name.
Envious eyes can be a crime,
leading to jealous tendencies.
Hiding secrets can lead to becoming a victim
to a self inflicted demise.
An empty bottle leads to remorse.
Bitter sweet tears roll with shameful giggles.
Now the cracked vase looks perfect with flowers blooming.
Inebriant melodies mock the mind.
Attempting to dance, legs stumble and crash to the ground.
Laying there on the floor - laughing.
Then crying hysterically.
The heart has no desire to be sober,
only to remain intoxicated until death.
The Silent One

My first visit to that old secluded town
remains afresh in memories turning brown,
from faded pages I breathe in the breeze
aroma of moist maple in crevices to freeze.
White ferns floating midair in pairs
en route hilltop as I ascended the stairs.
Through shades of birch trees sunlight peeped
a distant rhapsody of echoing fog heaped,
I remember mother's hand in my fingers
amazement of her soothing caress still lingers.
Ambrosial showers of mystic blue starlight
she'd narrate to me ancient stories at night,
it was then that she'd gifted me my muse
when her beautiful lessons dripped to fuse.
"Draped love pouring to melt aching hearts
believe in something completely not in parts,
for you can be whoever you choose to become
your reality, your acts to others will hum,
if you stumble and fall to depths too low
you'll learn to rise beautifully and glow".
The only visit to that place still springs
my strongest memory that spreads white wings,
to drench me in her uplifting mellow to heal
my tattered spirit whenever too lost I feel,
guiding me to rise with vapors of aurora
my heart still resides in her magenta aura.

He is truly divine,
This heart of mine!
He's my oldest friend,
And a friend to the end.
The Master of glory;
And the bible's story.
One of peace and love,
And blessing from above.
The rose petals open,
To let the sun pour in;
And all nature awakes,
To the joy He makes!
The love that He brings,
Makes church bells ring!
Radiant Mr. Sunshine,
You are on my mind.
He is peace in turmoil;
And makes evil recoil.
Only goodness in the love,
That heaven's made of!
We live by His Word,
For His word we heard.
He lights up the soul,
When heaven's the goal!
No need to ever worry,
He lately comes early;
And His miracle once sent,
Can alter every event.
Merciful Mr. Sunshine,
You shine all the time!
And are a friend in need
And help me to succeed.
A true lover of hearts,
And where beauty starts.
Also a lover of nature,
With its wonders so pure.
Grand destiny's doer and-
The Man with the plan.
Consequential Mr. Sunshine,
You are on my mind.
A soul's steady seeker,
And earth shaking teacher.
A love when so flowering,
Must become overpowering!
Gracious Mr. Sunshine,
Brightest light of mine,
With whose helping hand,
I am ever able to stand.
He is in the dawn meadow,
And the hued sunset glow,
And knows love's passion,
And endless compassion!
Such a heavenly radiance,
Is the benevolent advance,
And so unearthly bright,
When we are in His sight.
Though troubles may call,
I stumble and do not fall;
For He solely has the power,
To resolve any unhappy hour.
By His grace, a love supreme,
And birdsong in the ravine,
And green gardens all around,
Alluring to sight and sound!
I dream of being bold, without a want or care,
To charm the crowd with wit, and much fanfare,
A fearless soul, who plays to the crowd every night.
Never doubting, never ever wrong, ever forever right.
I’d run marathons while eating cake.
I’d climb Mount Everest thrice without a break.
I'd compose a symphony from an idle hum.
I'd speak five languages fluently, just for fun.
I dream of being cool, calm, and collected,
Always sharply focused, never misdirected,
A polished version of myself, always on the ball.
Never prone to any slip up, tumble, trip or fall.
I'd love to anticipate, to always be way ahead,
To never stumble as I scramble from my bed,
To awaken with hope fulfilled to greet the morn.
To never be bedraggled, hung-over, nor forlorn.
But, here I sit, entangled in my own unkempt hair,
Locked by procrastination’s grip, tied up, in my chair.
I plan great things ahead, but then, I simply sit and stare,
To better myself, I'd need to be, another's self, elsewhere.
Today as the sky continues to drizzle
I sit alone as my mind begins to sizzle
This morning like every other
I lust for knowledge the kind u get from one another..
As I listen to the world around me
I question why is life only how we perceive
How come each day that our weary soul awakens
Do we look and see just another day in the maken
To keep a loved bird safe a cage offers assistance
That cage for its safety becomes its resistance.
If we see the good in those we meet
Then why not set wings upon their feet
Let them take off and become what's meant to be
We inhibit each other don't you see
Although through life we stumble and may fall
Shouldn't we strive and overcome it all..
Today someone looks out and sees only gloom
Take away the cage and give life some room
If you read this and inside you feel it click
Not just read but let them stick
Then stop and don't ask what a task does require
Look at the doer of it and inspire
