Shine Your Light On Me

ORIGINAL SONG:

Shine Your Light
Robbie Robertson
Ladder 49 Soundtrack

The cry of the city like a siren's song
Wailing over the rooftops the whole night long
Saw a shooting star like a diamond in the sky
Must be someone's soul passing by
These are the streets
Where we used to run where your Papa's from
These are the days
Where you become what you become
These are the streets
Where the story's told
The truth unfolds
Darkness settles in

Chorus:
Shine your light down on me
Lift me up so i can see
Shine your light when you're gone
Give me the strength
To carry on, carry on

Don't wanna be a hero
Just an everyday man
Trying to do the job the very best he can
But now it's like living on borrowed time
Out on the rim, over the line
Always tempting fate like a game of chance
Never wanna stick around to the very last dance
Sometimes i stumble and take a hard fall
hold your grip off the wall

Chorus

I thought i saw him walking by the side of the road
Maybe trying to find his way home
He's here but not here
He's gone but not gone
Just hope he knows if I get lost
Chorus

My Version:
SHINE YOUR LIGHT ON ME

Ive been down this road before
Its cold and dark and weary
No stars above me, no ground below me
The world is empty and I can only hear my heartbeat.

Shine your light on me
Shine your light on me
When Im all alone
Be my strength, my home
Shine your light on me
Help me God to see
That the world is bright
Be it day or night
Shine your light on me.

Sometimes Im hungry, my soul is thirsty
I long to hear the sound
Of sweet melody
People around me, they see right through me
Where has feeling gone
Where is humanity.

Shine your light on me
Shine your light on me
When Im all alone
Be my strength, my home
Shine your light on me
Help me God to see
That the world is bright
Be it day or night
Shine your light on me.

Now I see children with smiling faces
Innocence not lost, they gladen us the most
Teach the chidren
To be a mirror
For the blind to see, for the mute to talk
For the sick to heal, for the lame to walk

Shine your light on them
Shine your light on them
When they're all alone
Be their strength, their home
Shine your light on them
Help them God to see
That the world is bright
Be it day or night
Shine your light on them.

Premium Member Sleepless In Whereis Part 1

I’m stealing through a twilit realm, the ancient pale of Whereis,
passing chambers of an Heiress
(though no need to feel embarrassed)
through a magic mystic mirror hanging curtainless.

A glimpse near naked alleyways (denuded by the moon) ex-
poses Ghosts in gauzy tunics
carving symbols, round and runic,
in distended dingy dungeons of uncertainness.

Down misty streets of cobblestone – ancestral avenues –
patchwork paths consume my shoes
(chasing foggy curlicues
twisting, twirling by in twos,
floating anywhere they choose),
leaving footprints that confuse
vagrant wispy retinues
of the threaded wooden sticks that stalk a Puppet wandering.

Condensed in drops of fantasy, distilled in evening dew,
shifting Shadows I pursue
(wearing faces I once knew,
slipping slowly from my view)
turn their backs to bid adieu
leaving stars to tempt me through
Awful Tower residues
mocking treasures time outgrew
in the birth of old from new
framing pageants in review
midst the visions of the painted past I can’t help pondering.

Contorted candelabra claw the skyline’s walled suspension
caught in twilight’s intervention
– still unlit (in stark dissension),
therefore seething with a tension
in the quiet apprehension
of the Watchman’s inattention
to the night-time’s bold pretension
to her power, not to mention,
to her hyperspace extension
(far beyond my comprehension
of the sundown’s bleak dimension) –
on exhausted beaten boulevards of foolish fretfulness.

Oblivion depletes me, voiding haste and hurried hassles,
me, a simple abject vassal,
trailing moonlit floating castles,
– fickle feet, but fingers facile
grasping straws and pendant tassels –
as I stumble through the rubble of forgetfulness.

I think I must be dreaming as I seem to see these things,
neath a sky alive with wings
(hear the Nightingale, she sings),
midst the whispered murmurings
soughed by Phantoms clad as Kings
pacing palaces in rings,
while their hapless footfall clings
to the sagging sinking sands of midnight’s splintered splattered ruins.

Entangled in the swirling leaves that spin in dizzy flurries,
(while the wind beside me scurries
as an ermined hermit hurries)
lurk my sleepy woes and worries
(glowing faint’ but growing blurry)
which, when plundered by the demon dusk, I’d left behind me strewn.

The Quieter You Are

ENOUGH!

I felt deaf from the ‘noise’ of information,
constantly butting, buzzing against my mantra of:
“The quieter you are… the more you… hear!”
At present, my lifestyle felt media manipulated:
tv, radio, newspaper, mobile, computer.. ad infinitum!
Besieged by endless emails, monopolizing mobiles,
beset by frenzied yaps from apps!
Enough is enough is….. ENOUGH,
I have to escape from the unrelenting hullabaloo.
Can the human brain endure so much information
and who am I, an individual thinker or group dancer?

However, relief sat just around the corner
as next morning I boarded the flight to Reykjavik.
A three-hour taxi journey with a taciturn islander,
people and communication diminishing by the mile
until finally a twig of a boat out to Ellidaey Island.
Boating and bobbing towards the uninhabited …hideaway,
an isolated jigsaw piece of land
off the southern coast of Iceland,
I appraise a small-boned building clinging to its side
with ‘RIDICULOUS’ scribbled all over it.

Someone had said Iceland was a niceland
where you could float free, peace and tranquillity!
But someone hadn’t warned me about…Mr Loneliness
Who was soon tapping me sharply on the shoulder.
So here I sit, three days into my week’s stay
in the island’s lodge, dubbed the world’s loneliest house,
where the only neighbours are passing ships and puffing puffins.
No internet, no tv, no electricity, no running nor strolling.. water
just remote, alone and contemplating my countenance
while wondering if God is lonely too!

Suddenly, clouds bump and bruise against each other
as they race away before the darkness snarls in.
Soon, night has sent in its stormtroopers
who land and splinter into shadow groups
while wind angrily sprints up to the house
bombing it with blockbuster punches.
Then rain happily joins in, machine-gunning the house
until the building begins to stagger and stumble.
I check my face and it is still in the same place
but I sit timorously trembling, tyrannised and terrified
while my eyes follow the house’s dimly lit path
as it wags its tail to the cliff’s edge
and jumps into the void of darkness.
But this poem is a broken wrist, with a twist,
as suddenly, my bones brittle and inside myself…..I faint!
What possibly could happen now?
But there it is..
the knock at the front door!

Eloquent Gems Part 2

ELOQUENT GEMS

Part 2

But it’s show time, word genius making a fuss within ya brain hemispheres,
I’m rear in all the ages, pages outdating your solar systems burning spheres,
I leave ya mind scared with the truth, scared of what you will lose,
These writings are like hip hop and blues, blowing your mental fuse,
Your used, abused by your ignorance, cant advance from ya current mind stance,
With plans upon this planet, over running ruins, within ya delusions, ya say plans?
You ran away from your divine land, residing instead blind following lies,
Firmly as earning spiritual advice, nice and nicely played out well,
As you fell I tell a real story of glory of the real history with fury,
Furious but word notorious, worry about these things, they are nearly near,
Yeah bearing witness to those that stumble and don’t get up, find ya wings,
Hear the voices singing songs, lethal sequels seeking ears to hear,
Fear the mighty word warrior, steer your vessel, bless you from the summit, right up there,
But I don’t care, I steer a mind behind the vessel, as I wrestle good and evil,
Always climbing levels…. Depart devils, be gone please, ya don’t stand a chance,
One glance of these words puts you in a trance of stagnant brain operation,
Change up ya station,
Excellent, your seeds growing,
Into a plant with enhanced reception,
Tuning in, dismantle the stress,
Confess your ruining ya perception,
In the life of Mass Deception!!!
The completion is to reach them, all of them,
Mindfully seen through intervened letters to them,
Them? Who’s them? Remnants of the mighty men of old?
The Chosen few… come on I don’t know….
So I can’t just follow in blind faith,
Distasteful foul ways of the fools,
Who are schooled within disgraceful enslaved schools,
Check ya schedule, Like King Saul you will fall,
Slayed by your own sword and missed out on the reward,
Plagued by an evil spirit, devils mindset absorbed,
Records show a man that didn’t grow so jumped overboard,
Absorb these words, sort what distorts and delete,
Don’t retreat and be defeated in this heated war of good and evil,
Find your tranquil place and be seated, meet the inner self,
Where the real help resides, inside your house, your temple,
Disassemble and reassemble yourself, resemble principles possible,
Irreversible when awake!!!

The Antique Store

The Antique store
Antiques she adored, a relic he was.
She had a special place for art.
Unfortunately it wasnt her heart.

I'm clinging on to the older things
the antiques of our time.
Sometimes they break or get lost.
I cannot replace them,
no one can replace them.
But I'd rather have an antique
than nothing at all.
At least I can say I enjoyed it at some point.

Teach me to make beautiful.
No beauty can I find.
Search me whole.
Tell only what thoughts appear to be mine.
First comings need an exit of least disgrace.
No one wants to be kept waiting.
For then their time might never come.
Trimmed antiques in dusty lace.

A whole world
Begging for
Change
Daring to dream
Endless altering realities
Figuring that the end
Generates a new start
Hinging on the application of
'I'
Just in terms of understanding
Knowledge of the self
Learning about the
Magic inside all of us
Nearing that
Ominous future
Persistent in the
Quest for a better tomorrow
Reach for it!
Stand up for it!
Teach the young to
Usher in their new era
Vestiges of ours gone
Without a second thought
Xenoliths of a different time
Yellowed antiques
Zealous youth to push aside our failures

When you don't need me,
you put me on a shelf
with your dusty trophies
you never really earned,
and antiques
you never took care of.
I'm up front, visible,
easy to reach
at your convenience.
But I know you would rather
take what you need from
your precious china cabinet.
Just know that when you fumble,
when you slip up,
and when you stumble,
your precious china will break.
But I will still be here.

I have gathered all time tellers,
grandfather clocks, alarm clocks, phones, watches -
to tell you that : I have all the time in the world for you.
It might not be the most sophisticated way
to say that I have an ear for listening and a heart for consolation,
but don't be too skeptical with my methods.
Forgive me, maybe, perhaps, if I can't be so bold and concise.
At least, now we've got all these antiques to talk about.

he is a lover of brokenness.
he likes antiques,
collecting little fragments of things.
he hates breaking them,
so he finds brokenness,
fixes it up a little,
takes a few pieces and leaves.
he's already taken a bit of me,
and unless I shatter again,
he'll leave forever.

How Close Will You Get

HOW CLOSE WILL YOU GET?

There was a man who wanted someone to drive him ‘round
The hills and lanes and corners there in the little town.
And so he ran a want ad to hire someone one day,
“I want to hire a driver to take me on my way.”
He waited for the answers in his house upon the hill,
And one by one they came there to try this job to fill.
Now this old man was living not far from a steep cliff,
So as he talked to each man, this question he went with:
“You see that cliff out yonder? I want to know how near
You’d drive my fancy carriage without a single fear.”
The first said, “I can take it within just ten short feet.”
“I’ll let you know,” he answered, “when my interviews are complete.”
The second said, “Just five feet’s how close that I can go.”
And once again he answered, “Good-bye, I’ll let you know.”
The third man was most daring as he portrayed his skill,
“I’ll come within just one foot of that steep rugged hill!”
The old man was impressed, but did not decide just yet,
And one more man was questioned to see how close he’d get.
The final man was summoned, and after he walked in
And he was asked that question, this driver said to him,
“Sir, I’m not going to try it to see how close I’d go;
It’s not that I am fearful or driving do not know,
But I feel it is safer to stay as far away
From there as I can drive you; that’s all that I can say.”
“You’re hired!” the old man shouted, “you start for me today!
I wanted one who’d keep me as far as he could stay
From that old cliff so rugged, lest he should lose control
And plunge my carriage over that rocky, rugged knoll.”
This story has a lesson on how we live our life
And fight the devil daily with all his tempting strife.
He lures us with life’s pleasures to see how far we’ll go
Before we stop and realize the sad, impending woe.
We’re better if we travel far from that rugged hill
And stay close to the Saviour and try to do His will.
The key to righteous living is not to take a bet
And gamble with the devil on just how close we’ll get
Without a sin or stumble and still control our life;
It isn’t worth the gamble, it isn’t worth the strife.
Just do like that one driver and vow to God today,
“Lord, I’m not going to fail You, see how far I can stray.
I’ll do my best to serve You with every day I live;
I’ll stay close to You, Saviour, my all to You I’ll give.”

Prince Jargo

Prince Jargo
was on a mission to
slay the evil green dragon
of the kingdom of
Wondrous Land
which consisted of people,
kindly dragons, dragonflies,
huffle-winks and the
mean-spirited green dragon,
his father King Andro insisted
it was time for young
Prince Jargo to be initiated
into adulthood and prove
his worthiness and valor
for the entire kingdom.

King Andro told his son
that he needed proof that
the green dragon was slain
by having him return with
part of its scaly tail and
heartless heart which would
be on display before all the
residents of their land to
celebrate Jargo's courageous
feat and the change of his
status to manhood.

The journey to the cave where
the green dragon lived was
perilous as Prince Jargo and
his white steed climbed carefully
several hundred feet high as
clouds drifted before them
obstructing their view of the
high-altitude lair making
the adventure more difficult
and challenging for the
young and nervous prince.

Suddenly, a fiery streak several
feet long knocked Jargo off his
horse making him dizzy with pain
when he realized he was attacked
by the fiery emblazoned tongue
of the green dragon whom he was
to slay or would he be slain instead?

Unshielding his shiny and diamond
studded sword, Jargo entered the
slimy and awful reeking cave in
which the green dragon lived and to
his dismay discovered that there wasn't
any sign of the dragon making him
wonder how it could hide since his
proportions being tall as several
stories would make it impossible
to do so.

Quickly, Jargo left the cave shaking
in his boots from a fear he had never
known just to become a princely man
for the Wondrous Land and his father's
approval of him.

Immediately, as he stepped outside,
he faced a stumble block----the giant green
dragon was on the ground and not moving
at all, looking still as if dead, so Jargo pierced
it with his sword several times to confirm
of its demise which made the entire
situation much easier for him as he sliced
off part of the tail and cut out its heart,
all proof was packed as he descended
down the steep trail to be welcomed by
King Andro as a courageous and manly prince
who slayed the evil green dragon.

Premium Member The World-You-Me-My Soul-The Mind

Do you sometimes wonder
how to introduce what is out there to your soul and mind?
how to understand that which exists, in that period of time?
and in that present moment is real, and do you feel guilty if you leave it all behind?

Have you heard that your ego will prevent you
from being who you were meant to be?
And you get absorbed in society’s creations
but you find yourself confused, and unable to see.

And you might search the news
looking for those reads that will reaffirm what’s on your mind.
And you “stumble upon” absurd conspiracy theories
which you “miraculously” find.

Can you somehow see a reflection of who you are?
Or is the mirror broken, left far behind?
Can you ask yourself, honestly, sincerely, what the solution is for human kind?
Or do you get lost within the scope of your very own personal mind?

And as you sit there
do you blame others while looking for a system that creates the hurt?
Deep down you know the answer
it’s selfishness, hatred, power, and greed, which continue to subvert.

What is real and what is fake?
I often wonder what is true.
Yes I listen and I analyze
I use up a portion of my time to see it from a particular point of view.

For now I want to spend my time
searching within my soul for something that I’m unable in this world to find
which baffles me some of the time
because occasionally it’s born and exists deep within my very own mind.

I’m just a being, living and trying to be that which I foresee
searching for the spiritual in that which is before me
at times attempting to find meaning in mortality
with a burning desire to understand and see.

It is contentment which I pursue
Even look inside the cracks
But at times like these contentment hides
and the road ahead confuses me, so I retrace, as I retract.

Maybe I got it all wrong
Maybe some of it is right
Maybe my vision is blurry and foggy
Maybe at times I have trouble seeing the light.

I can take what is happening out there
interpret using knowledge, a view, and perhaps a belief
but often the truth is just not there, and the news really stinks as it permeates
and the nature of the many, rarely offer one relief.

And I’m left with the choice to accept, dissolve, or set it all aside
using my soul and my very own mind.
And after attempting to understand
I ultimately, usually, leave it all behind.

______________________________________________________________

I evolve at my own rate; I won't be defined.
By the expectations that others designed
In this journey, I'm the one who decides
To spread my wings and let my spirit glide

I am elated and pain-free, my heart is light.
No longer burdened by darkness or plight.
I've learned to let rove of what doesn't serve.
And embrace the love that I truly deserve.

I do what suits me; I follow my own path.
Not swayed by opinions or society's wrath
I listen to my intuition, my inner voice.
It knows what's best; it's my guiding choice.

Angelic and improving—that's who I am.
Constantly growing such a blooming dam
I may stumble and fall, but I rise again.
Stronger and wiser, ready to transcend

I evolve at my own rate. I select my time.
Not rushing to fit into anyone's rhyme
I embrace the beauty of my unique pace.
On this journey, there's no need to race.

Love holds and supports me as a gentle breeze.
Wrapping me in warmth, putting my mind at ease.
I am surrounded by those who truly foresee
If I ever reached who you wished me to be.

The beauty within me, the worth I ping
Their love lifts me up, makes my heart sing.
I sieve happiness and control my emotions.
No longer controlled by external commotions

I release negativity and blare off the weight.
And embrace the joy that awaits.
The universe's words are being heard today.
I am unsealed to its messages, ready to obey.

Being appreciated and worthy is my claim.
No longer seeking validation or fame
I cognize my worth; I am beyond my blend.
I am a butterfly, ready to ascend.

Artless to healing, I spread my wings wide.
Embracing the light, letting rove the tide
As a raw day begins, I am optimistic.
Not as tied as the ties that were once so intrinsic.

I grasp possibilities, the endless skies.
I am ready to soar and reach raw highs
Unleashing the inner butterfly, I cast flight.
Leave the darkness that gripped me tight.

I soar through the clouds, my spirit set free.
Embracing the beauty of my own evolution
I am a masterpiece, a symbol of revolution.
Unleashing the inner butterfly, I am reborn.

No longer constrained by time and space,
I evolve at my own rate, with grace.
No need to rush, no need to flee,
I am blissful and pain-free.

Allow God to embrace your heart
I love everybody
All of humanity
As you read these words
You know me but I'm sure
I must encourage you, this I must do
Why? you ask because I love you

If we all were to love each other
With our eyes close, we would stumble,
Fall and drop the rose
Open you eyes grasp the steam
Embrace the hearts of your fellow man

Why do I say that I love you
It's because God has given me a choice to
Don't you realize that heaven was also on earth
And that out of our disobedience we were cursed

As you read these words
You don't know me but I'm sure
I must encourage you, this I must do
Why? you ask because I love you

There's no sensual, sexual, sinister reason though
It's not about me it's all Jesus. to learn and share agape love
Take heed share with me the free liberty, love real
Be not fake and love religiously
Be what God wants us to be, forgiving, forbearing, share and caring

Let's us not be afraid, love each other as the bible says
Do for me as I'd do for you share your knees with the floor
Pray for other, you, me and the world
Your trial is your testimony, imagine it when your done with it
You'll have the victory

So let us love our neighbor as thy self
Put on your robe, your crown of thorns and let's praise and worship Jesus
Why do I say that I love you
It's because God has given me a choice to
Don't you realize that heaven was also on earth
And that out of our disobedience we were cursed

Lastly but eternally I shall always say, that I love you
This is Jesus way
I love you for your human and you are loved
I love you for your a man, woman, boy and girl
I love you for your mind, I love you for kind
I love you for your race, no matter the color of your face
I love you for you're elderly, I love you for your wrongs
I love you for goods your bads when your happy or sad
I love you for the peace of your sweet release
I love you for you who am I to judge
I love you cause we're all just sinners, SAVED by grace
And when you're done reading this verse
Give your closest loved one a hug and a kiss
God loves you more than I, I can't judge I've no heaven nor hell to send you
I love humanity just because I SHOULD
You are not broken but chosen Be blessed
Allow God to embrace your heart
I love everybody
