A Quatern by HGarvey Daniel Esquire ( My First )

Growing old together with YOU
Watching Sunrises and Sunsets
Holding hands, enjoying the view
Memories one never forgets

Serenity, Tranquility
Growing old together with YOU
At peace through all Eternity
Forever, I’ll only Love YOU

You give me Love I never knew
You created a dream, come True
Growing old together with YOU
A Love Forever, Always True

Our Hearts beat together, entwine
Our Happiness, well over do
The Wonderful thought in my mind
Growing Old Together With YOU

The Quatern is a Quatrain that may or may not rhyme has an eight syllable
per line
count The quirk of this form of POETRY is repitition of the first line of the poem
moving down a line in each stanza so the first line is also the last
My problem was having the repititive line fit in and have the next stanza
make sense I would recommend that beginners and novice POETS could
practice this form to improve their perspective of POETRY
I do believe I will try other new to me Forms Always...HG

September Dewdrops

Pass a million cars on my way
Back to the small room that I called my home
Getting stuck in traffic physically and mentally
So fast and alone

Little dusky dewdrops cascading upon all my memories
Of that year
Back when I'd get stuck in traffic
Just to help you relieve of all your fears

Hey, you're fine
Come sit along with me in my room
Crank your 3DS speakers

Our hunt began
You'd hold me close and we'd melt down to
Our tender bases then

Brightly shining summer sun illuminating pages
That were so rare
Recommend me favorite teas and offer me some prime loose leaf
To warm our air

Weighed down by my laptop bag for some useless class
I'd drop anyway
Hear the legends singing things I still haven't forgotten
Unto this day

Hey, I'm fine
My room's been empty ever since then
Except for your memory

I relived
Every time I'd need some fuel
To help me make it through the cold nights

Slaying chaos druids on my seventh cup of coffee
Outside, there's snow
Cold December raindrops clinging to my windowsill
That we used to know

I remember the frosty zephyrs and how we'd crack it open
To breathe deeply
Smell the frost of Winter, cooling skin and warming hearts
As you'd cling to me

It was never fine
You know it died when we first gave up
Buried in a cemetery

Built for pets
You came to tear out my Achilles
And you knew that I would let you then

Here alone in my room nearly one thousand days later
And still thinking
Not about returning but just joy I felt back then
Dangled from a string

We're both living our best lives and cursing each other
Unto this day
I know that I once loved you but it's not the case anymore
I can safely say

Hey, I'm fine
Drinking fresh September dewdrops
Getting drunk on nostalgia

I don't mind
The memory of you and me
Doesn't burn anyway anymore

So, it's fine
A thousand days have passed and I'm alive
Drunk but feeling sober

I'm alright
More dusky drive than winter traffic
I've already rolled back home now.

Salute the Sweet Tooth Eh

Nutritionist, diabetes or
dietician
All to be unheeded in my
sweet tooth's opinion.

For how can I abandon
That chocolate canyon?

And same goes for yummy
chocolate fudge
Eh to a trifle could I bear
any grudge?

Ah treacle or caramel pudding
And apple crumble needs no
bidding

The craving wishes to devour
the dessert
Few would desert a tasty jam
tart!

Not forgetting swiss rolls and
cup cakes
and whatever other
sweetmeats the baker bakes.

Ah custards, ice-creams,
muffins and jellies
the only deterrent perhaps, the
fear of rounded bellies

Only if the dietician would
recommend instead
to cut down on leafy grassy
veggie salad

For if there was for it a polling
booth
I'd vote in favour of my sweet
tooth!

Snickers across the room,
holding as much weight as the finger food left sitting on each plate.
Another disruption, not clear in instruction.
Wilting while alive, living somehow dead.

Abra-cadavers — a magician’s box left unattended.
The editor’s sticky note writes:
“We do not recommend it.”

Words of advice: you might want to resend it.
Resend as in once more, in case the message was lost?
Or resending by undoing words spoken, fearing yet another loss.

Those who choose to live the life of two,
in the light and in the dark,
needing a fix
before, during, and after the storm hits.

The ones He found seem lost once more.

There is one thing
peaks and valleys share in common:

In solitude, I find relief.
Led by a light into total dark,
piercing two-faced energies
toward no ill-intended heart.

Though the frame remains crooked while hanging from the wall,
the picture’s memory becomes a symbol
of a wall still standing tall.

Remember why you left,
leaving what you left behind.

Static volume at the max
while walking that fine-drawn line.

The sun now sets to dusk once more,
carrying the shadows from the day.

As night falls, they begin to stalk me,
as a lion does its prey.

Premium Member Og

Located in the country town of Ennis, in the Banner County of Clare
Is the ivy clad Old Ground Hotel, and to enter mice wouldn't dare
Because OG is in residence, who wears a fur coat and has green eyes
And the last little mouse to try his luck there, was taken by surprise.

T'was one cold December night, that this mouse decided that he'd raid
And wasn't until he was in the dining room, realised the error that he'd made
He'd heard a loud hiss and seized with terror, ran all the way to Poets Bar
But he was certainly no match for OG's speed, and alas didn't get very far.

OG put out a statement, via the press office at the Old Ground Hotel
To all the mice in Ennis I'm warning you, stay away and all will be well
I move like a bullet at lighting speed and prisoners I will never take
If you come within one mile of here, you'd better organise your wake.

Word quickly spread in the mousey world, the Old Ground is out of bounds
Because faithful OG is forever vigilant, he's always patrolling the grounds
So if you want a mouse free stay, then I recommend the Old Ground Hotel
And for you it will be like paradise and for our mousey friends living hell.

He will welcome you when purring, as if to say "what have you got a for me"?
But don't fall for for his tricks, because he's treated well with caviar and brie
We have adopted him as our mascot for our family reunion in twenty three
And we all can't wait to meet that friendly feline, that cute bundle they call OG.

Puppy Love

Watery eyes pour puppy chow into a bright and shiny new dish.
Tears alone most surely cannot amount to that of wonderful filtered water—this doesn't change the fact that I am outright crying—(please don't tell).

She named her Luna and I fell into puppy love.
This puppy, of only eight weeks old, is already the size of many full grown small breeds.
She's a Pit/Rot mix and I am in love with her.
I'm a bit of a softy, in general, but this particular animal is to die for.

She's too young yet to properly potty train.
We have found the back patio to be the early learning facility.
It has been working quite well as we have obviously been blessed with an above average intellectually gifted Luna girl.
Luna the tuna is the easiest rhyme and all the made up words to match are made of pure sugar, honey and love.

Do I recommend this particular breed of dog?

Well, I've only had her about 2 weeks now but my final answer is yes; definitely.
Maybe we just got lucky?
It is possible that my girlfriend is just that pet savvy that she just knew...

Being the man that I am, paying attention to nearly everything (I mean nothing), hopped into the car and she said, "Are you ready to go to P.A."?.
As if I had a choice.
Drive three hours to buy a dog we've yet to meet and pay $300.00 for..?

That's exactly how it took place.
On the ride back from acquiring our new companion, Luna and I snuggled up and I was and have since been in puppy love.

Most of the time.

They poop and pee and chew and nip and eat the nastiest things like their very own poop.
Bad breath is temporary as they work through their process of teething.

Luna-girl

This puppy that I somehow ended up being her dad.
Is the best thing that has happened to me for a while.
Luna is her name.
She is only 8weeks old.

We share a common bond that is simply described as . . .

Puppy Love

Premium Member Naughtiness

Can't imagine life without naughtiness
It spices things up, it does
Naughtiness was given to us human beans
A blessing if there ever was

Imagine a whole world of uptight people
Afraid to stumble and fall
I'm obsessed by naughtiness, stuff they call smut
Bad words, bad thoughts and all

Really I'm usually quite prim and proper
That's the image I try to portray
Sometimes though the real me is exposed
I'm nailed to the wall some days

Have to admit really enjoy being naughty
It spices up a most boring life
I highly recommend it this path I've chosen
Gotta try it at least once or twice

Write me and tell me how it all works out
Are you're scorned, ridiculed and stuff
Take heart my friends for naughtiness rocks
It's the stuff folks can't get enough

In part, The Haiku Society of America’s definition of a haiku reads, “Usually a haiku in English is written in three unrhymed lines of seventeen or fewer syllables.” Further, Japanese scholar Shigehisa Kuriyama states, “The 5-7-5 pattern by itself does not make a haiku.” (Gurga, p. 1). Contemporary English language haiku have departed radically from the 5-7-5 convention, including the Beat haiku of Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, and Gary Snyder, the latter awarded the Masaoka Shiki International Haiku Grand Prize in 2004. The haiku of Robert Spiess are especially experimental.

I recommend two sources for further study of haiku: “Haiku: A Poet’s Guide,” by Lee Gurga, addresses haiku in it’s traditional form; “Haiku Poetics in Twentieth-Century Avant-Garde Poetry,” by Jeffery Johnson discusses haiku as realized by modernist poets.

Speaking personally, it is most important for me to enjoy writing a haiku, correct form or not, and for my haiku to be enjoyed by the reader.

Number 2

When I jot down the words that I
Have forming in my head,
The only tool required is
A pencil filled with lead.

A pen won’t do the trick for me;
A keyboard holds no lure.
It’s only with a number 2
That I feel most secure.

The yellow ones I like the best,
Though I get out of joint
If I’m not near a sharpener
And I’ve worn down the point.

The plastic ones with lead inside
Work well when on the road;
But I prefer the pencils that
One doesn’t have to load.

Of course my pencils must possess
Erasers at the end.
A pencil lacking such a tool
I wouldn’t recommend.

I’m writing this right now to praise
My very best utensil –
And naturally, my fingers grasp
A number 2 lead pencil!
