Outside the bakery's window,
my brother and me.
Without a single penny for desire.
Meringues that looked as white peonies,
sweet cakes that smelled heavenly.
Plenty of freshly baked rolls,
my brother never had taste.
A "poor man's" wish, the right to smell.
What heaven has chosen hungers tyrant?
Not everyone understands misery.
In the falling snow,
thin worn out clothes and wet feet -
life is already a challenge.
Snow-covered pavement, shoes without soles
Dear righteous virgin send us strength.
Fate does not smile, courage and hope crushed.
The pale aspect when life is at its worst.
My brother whispers:
"hungry"
Sometimes we’re searching for answers
To questions on our mind
Not really sure what we’re looking for
That turns into a question of time
We’re covering the same old ground
Over and over again
Never seeing anything different
When will this searching end
Then all of a sudden the penny drops
Click, everything falls into place
Piece by piece the puzzle completes
And we stand there quietly amazed
We're blind sometimes to the signs
That stare us in the face
Answers lie in front of our eyes
But we miss them along the way
Then all of a sudden the penny drops
Click, everything falls into place
Piece by piece the puzzle completes
And we stand there quietly amazed
Bridge
How could it of been so easy
The answer was there all the time
I didn’t see the simplicity
All this time my eyes were blind
Then all of a sudden the penny drops
Click, everything falls into place
Piece by piece the puzzle completes
And we stand there quietly amazed
We must have passed it several times
Reading through the same old lines
No it didn’t even cross our mind
The missing link that we would find
Then all of a sudden the penny drops
Click, everything falls into place
Piece by piece the puzzle completes
And we stand there quietly amazed

I am reading my eyes in a library mirror.
I had perused a yellow book:
‘Astronomy for Dummies.’
It could be an electric reflection of the light
but I think I see a solar system
looking back at me.
I recognize it from a picture in the yellow book.
It’s my own planetary cluster, although, like the book,
It does not rightly belong to me.
There is a question mark behind planet X, I guess.
and the sun seems to be returning to cosmic sperm.
Jupiter has shrunk to the size of a copper penny
of course it’s hard to judge size in a public library mirror
that needs cleaning.
I see all this in my right eye, in my left eye
a tiny human creature is curled like a fetus in a womb
It is (I assume), a proteogenic me; what else could it be?
Am I being born again, am I going back to God,
is there another book for dummies
I should have read instead?
This and other great universal questions
occupy my mind as I enter my parked car
to drive home.
I take an intergalactic short-cut,
a road that is less busy at this time of day.
Wailing like the sails of a trouble boat
Upon the sea amidst a storm, like clouds
Silent screams, like the stirred souls we can’t hear
But heaven is my hope
Unsure of T’where, like wood that is afloat
Not it would steer, the current takes about
So many concealed canvases I fear
But heaven gives me hope
Where would this tune that plays so loud, this note
This one that makes us dance like we were touts
I know not where it leads. To life or death?
But heaven is my hope
What would the penny that you save to gloat
Bring you, while your neighbour’s lack avows
With my eyes I watch. I can’t cease your breath
But heaven gives me hope
My hands can’t help! Eyes watch our values die
It’s heart had held a blade, and for so long
Poor kids that to earth come, your timing’s wrong
Let heaven be your hope
Plagued with impatience, greed that make gods cry
Strength filled arms folded oft, and hurtful tongues
We wrongly pride ourselves on what we’ve got
So heaven kept it’s hope
Our fathers had been humanly! We’re vile!
Our mothers helped all things like they were one
I hope that these saintly pasts would return
O heaven hear me hope
Man’s heart had loved and true, in pasts it had
It never told a lie nor nursed illness
Alas, now lastly filled with wickedness
O heaven, where’s our hope?
It took up well, but's firmly plunging south
A million starts, yet hardly any ends
Self-interest at the core, with foul mouth
And very few, if any, real friends
Good deeds, I barely count any
To benefit all those while in need
Oh, yeah, he terminated penny
And those who donated he has freed
The "ego" dwarfing larger state of Texas
While, sadly, arrogance, it's bursting at the seams
Deflecting questions to White House "Alexa"
Pursuing legacy is goal, as it seems
Be center of attention everywhere
Is good for one but not for all of us
He'll cut you off on TV "Town Square"
And call you stupid on demand he wouldn't discuss
When "I" replaces whole nation
It's very selfish, wouldn't you agree?
Each spoken word must rhyme with "ovation"
It's always "me me me" instead of "we we we"

He looked at that boy with pain in his eyes
and said I'm sick and tired of seeing all of
these lies
So you went away from home for a little while
and came back here bumping a brand new style
Looking at you now the answer's real clear
You must've ended up somewhere north of here
So I guess it's up to me to get you back to your roots
gonna put your ass back in some cowboy boots
Because you're country that's the way you were born
You're country heading back through the corn
It's a simple way of life around here
where you work, sweat, and bleed and never shed a tear.
If we don't do it, it won't be done
not everything in life is about having fun
I see you over there walking down the street
spent a pretty penny showing off your feet
By the way you're running you should've bought some cleats
Trying to run out of here like your at a track meet
You're a real big shot that what you think
putting all your money in a federal bank
But that ain’t the way we do it around here
we burry our money in an empty jar of clear
Because we're country that's the way we were born
we're country heading back through the corn
It's a simple way of life around here
where we work sweat and bleed and never shed a tear
we wake up early an go to bed late
no we ain't got time to procastinate
You come up to me and ask my advice
I look down at you and I don't think twice
Boy you need to slow down and catch your breath
you got us all worried and scared to death
we all remember that fire in your eye
and I don't believe that you've let it die
Because you're country that'd the way you were born
you're country heading back to the corn
One Dollar
When I was a kid,
I worked for every dime I got.
I folded papers,
I took out the trash,
I did dishes,
washed cars,
and weeded the garden.
Two weeks it would take me,
to earn one dollar.
Two weeks of hard work.
Grandpa told me I was worth every penny,
and that I would make a good worker one day.
I watched him,
I listened to his stories.
I learned all that I could,
about growing up.
I learned all that I could,
about being... grown.
Money comes and it goes,
but the lessons stay through the seasons.
They become more compound,
and more complex.
Sometimes they are harsh and unforgiving,
about birth, life, and death.
Sometimes they are soft and sweet,
and concern matters of the heart.
There is a balance between earning too much,
and giving too much of your life away,
for too little of its value.
The exchange needs to be, fair.
I miss the wisdom of Grandpa's yesterday,
and I must maneuver the path alone now.
Yet, the echo of his teachings,
leave me... better prepared.
What world most rejoices and comforts you?
What grieves your heart and disturbs your mind most?
Does the quest for beauty bewitches you?
And yes, embraces your vanity the most?
There must be such a heaven to dwell in,
The pathway to perfect felicity,
A place of pleasure and prurient sin
Enticing a feeble heart to folly.
If you are willing to commit a fault
So you should be content to make amends
And bring this deceitful wile to a halt
Before a shadow of despair descends.
Grieve at the imperfection of the man
Quashing good judgment whenever he can!
Quote 2: "A Course in Miracles"-(You may believe that you
are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think.
The truth is that you are responsible for what you think,
because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice.
What you do comes from what you think.)
A Penny for your thoughts contest by Sara Kendrick
Memento on the moon, our existence based on what we cannot see.
Subjective logic we measure by mere senses within our body
A penny lay I law on moon’s largest crater saying, ‘In God We Trust’
Nay a picture of God found on this coin, rather a man once worshipped
Proving our everlasting toil of higher power on earth versus universe
Never fully finding the rubric of justice but trusting a flawed process
Living breathing proof of our détente of existentialism wresting fate
Fighting chaos, embracing a land of laws to control the new
Both beautiful and horrid contradictions whimsically stuck in a dance
Desire to progress but strangled with fear we marched on
Seeking knowledge while carrying the boat anchor of tradition
We made it just far enough to learn how small we actually grew
original self
live life
be true to your self
take your steps
but wisely
even when you
make mistakes
is ok
learn by it not remain
with it
know your inner self
that is the power
you sick unknown
original self
keep your fire alive
is amazing to feel right
when you are at peace
with nature
feel positive in your
growth
never loss your focus
for penny
keep your head up
don't fear to fail
just keep moving
original self
know your self
protect your worth
don't devalue your self
live above your fear
if you can but you can
see but don't panic
life is a teacher
in the class of knowledge
with it qualification
by experience's
don't be moved by
circumstances
it only can build your wisdom
so in all you do to save your
self a life maintain your
original self
