Touching the Sun

Peering over the edge of a sunrise,
I can now see Tomorrow's friendly face.
A day of promise with endless blue skies,
the clouds of Yesterday have been replaced.

Standing in a grove of towering trees,
light trickling through the canopy of leaves.
Gently touching the warmth of the Sun's rays,
into the bright light I have fixed my gaze.

The sweet songs of the birds float on the wind,
with a voice that sounds like a long lost friend.
Feeling the quiet peace of a new day,
while in Nature's boundless beauty I stray.

Cherish the moments spent in the Sun's light,
to hold you when darkness visits your night.

"I'm very happy being me, although sometimes I'd love to be a bird so
that I could fly." - Joy Fielding

Furrowing the crisp layers of thin air
flies the migratory songbird of charm,
the cheerful Robin on the frilled wings
soars to the fringe of clouds in the sky.

The bird of transparent crystal morning
tweeters the tune of sunburst horizon,
in the secrecy of its silky scarlet breast
pulsates the cadence of avian delight.

Over thrush wrapped in the silence of dawn
it sings to the melody of the nascent sunrays,
the welcome carol for the ascent of a new day,
in north wind the enchanting notes drift away.

While on smoky sky the storm clouds gather
little Robin sings on bough of wind-swept tree,
when the rainbow arc spans the drenched sky
it flutters with the rhythm of the celestial hues.

Outside my window on the green visage
the red bird perched on the lofty branch
sings the sunrise song that sails me by,
in the new unfurling sky it’s time to fly.

Tears

The angels from heaven sprinkle the tears from high; they fall as dew on the earth,
Tears that came from the heart, tears collected from birth.
Through the fits of joyful laughter, to the sobbing of heartache and pain,
They roll down the cheeks, only to be gathered up by the same angels again.

Emotions are the only instigators, in evicting the heavenly dew,
They show the intensity of love, and the hatred when love is through.
Sadness holds the heart to ransom, like a chill turning the drops to frost,
When a loved one has passed on, their partner is left numbed and lost.

However, as the sun warms up a brand new day, and time moves on for a while,
The pain begins to float away; with pleasant thoughts turning sadness into a smile.
From the emotions, which our eyes express as tears, angels will take them above,
And sort them out in categories like sadness, loss and love.

The angels continue to sprinkle the tears from on high, like a carpet of glistening diamonds
they fall upon the earth,
As emotions are learned from the old ones and transferred to the babies from birth.

I woke up this morning,
Blessed to see a new day;
I'm not rich but happy,
What else is there to say?

My hair is getting thinner,
I have bags underneath;
There's one thing I can smile about,
I still have most of my teeth

These ol’ eyes are open,
As sharp as they can get;
The mind comes and goes at times,
But I ain't senile yet

Aches and pains may frequent me,
Sex has slowed quite a bit;
Once the motor gets heated up,
It's difficult to quit

Hard work’s never hurt me,
I'm hanging with the best;
Young folks gaze in stunning awe,
While I put ‘em to the test

I'm so blessed to be alive,
At peace in my humble home;
Side by side with the lady,
That's why I love this poem

A New Dawn

A new dawn, a new day
More Shells and Bullets will come our way
Our spirits are kept up buy our togetherness
As we sleep among the dead I guess
A letter from home from those who care
Who miss us dearly knowing we cannot be there
The rain now falls all around damp and soggy
Amongst the mist shadows become foggy
But we must fight on for country and king
For we know what we are doing is the right thing
Defeat the enemy is our greatest desire
Along with being home with our loved ones
Beside the fire
In someone’s arms we love so dear
Determined to make it home never fear
That goodnight kiss I feel keeps me going still
To the end whatever may be God’s will

We Pass Each Other

He approaches fast

We bump - silly heart beats wildly
Him - lost in thought- No word of apology
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Eyes so blue - elicits soundless sighs
He stares - out into distant skies
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Sensual lips - beg a moonlight kiss
A dropped beat- my heart does miss
We pass each other

He approaches fast

New day dawns - new courage found
Courage flees - from lips no sound
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Gold tipped streaks - on hair of brown
He neither smiles - nor does he frown
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Hint of down - on a manly chin
Imagining stroking it - I hide a grin
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Convinced he’ll smile - eye contact meet
He hurries by - I concede defeat
We pass each other

He approaches fast

Smile he does - chatting on the phone
Pangs of hurt - He’s not alone
We pass each other

He approaches fast
I hurry on - with eyes downcast
A bump I feel - and look aghast
I look into the bluest eyes
My heart it stops
I groan
I die

A quizzical smile plays on his lips
Oh beating heart that soars and dips
And so this moment I shall seize
Forever in my memory freeze

We stand and grin- no words to utter
Still ----We don’t pass each other

Footnote:
School over and kids thronged a mall, where I sat sipping my coffee in a café. I couldn’t help overhearing some high school girls, loudly talking about their teenage crushes which prompted me to write this amusing poem. I’m sure parents of teenage girls the world over will undeniably identify with. Oh!! And of course Taylor Swift was one of their favourite singers.

PRAISE THROUGH

I'm only here for one reason
I finally see
that Jesus died as an atonement
for me

so I will praise through
my issues in life
I will praise through
as I worship the Lord Christ

I now understand
I fully comprehend
that His spilt blood
eradicated my sins

so I will praise through
my issues in life
I will praise through
as I worship the Lord Christ

If not for His grace
there'd be no me
If not for His mercy
a new day I"d never see
If not for His sacred blood
I'd never receive His unwavering love

so I will praise through
all my struggles
I will praise through
all my troubles
now down on bended knees
to praise He who watches over me

I will praise through
my issues in life
I will praise through
as I worship the Lord Christ
I will praise through
grateful for His favor
I will praise through
giving all glory to my Savior

I will praise through

Premium Member Thankful For This Life

There has been a time in my life of deep and great despair,
and I am grateful for all the helping hands;
because of people who cared this girl stands,
stands here strong, serene and at peace with a gratitude tear.

Even for a life threatening deathly event I am deeply beholden,
for as I stood at the gate of Heaven weeping;
my heart and soul the Lord was safe keeping,
pleased, I opened eyes to a new day and a bright sun golden.

I will never forget a day I was feeling pretty sorry for my situation,
then, I saw a woman with no legs and no arms;
but her smile and her laugh were her charms,
so humbled, I let go of torment and that has been my salvation.

Gareth Is To Blame

Wind and rain are back again
and now storm Gareth is to blame
Eighty mile per hour winds
blow down trees and rubbish bins
Up high in my penthouse apartment
living in the sky am I
It can be quite scary
It can be quite wild
Will I see the stars above
in the dark night sky
if storm Gareth rips my roof off
as he passes by
as he whirls
as he swirls
as he twirls
in the sky
Unable to sleep
quite scared am I

Then slowly storm Gareth moves on
I awake from my slumber
to find he has gone
Surveying the damage
pots strewn all around
I still have my roof on
no damage is found
The sun has now risen
The birds have now sung
All is calm as I wait
for a new day to come

Premium Member Alone and Abused

When couples tie the nuptial knot,
They hope to leave the lonely lot.
But far too many newlyweds,
Soon realize their dream has fled.

Instead of being bone of bone,
They live as married and alone.
Feelings become easily bruised,
sparking a cycle of abuse.

The childhood wounds that failed to heal,
greatly affects the way they feel.
The hateful words hurt spouses say,
sear the soul and those old wounds flay.

When violence enters the milieu
The victim feels trapped and unfree.
Their mind is numb and thoughts unclear,
As each new day they live in fear.

The scowling stares, they take their toll,
by slowly stressing sore the soul.
The victim, anxious and depressed
Even in sleep cannot find rest.

The careless words of a dear friend,
crass counselors that do not mend,
a church not caring, callous, cold,
engender suffering untold.

Daily existence feels like hell,
as the soul shrinks to a mere shell.
And then the thoughts begin to tend,
To suicide as welcome friend.

Is there hope for this sad state,
When dreams of love explode in hate.
The God of love who made you both,
Desires to foster your growth.

Stop thinking of who is to blame,
End the name-calling and the shame.
The path to wholeness starts with you,
So, look inside and change your view.

Start looking deep inside your brain.
Explore the hurts that cause you pain.
Ask God above to soothe and heal,
And cause your heart His love to feel.

As each of you begins to heal,
And God’s great love begins to feel.
The grace of God your hearts will fuse,
You’ll love your spouse and not abuse.
