Time slips through my fingers like so much water and the fabric of existence drapes more loosely on my soul than has ever been my wish to experience.
The royal garment makers here at court have need to take greater care in the practice of their craft. All too many of my subjects have brought me little but disappointment. Last night I’d ordered the wind to refrain from seeking further audience in my palace, but my lips became chapped anyway. I’ve banished autumn for the season, yet in insolent defiance it continues to insist on exercising its own will despite my obviously wiser judgment.

My mercy may be legendary, but there are limits to my patience.
My spies have been creeping around. They will bring me word of further treasons. Of that I have no doubt. It will all be dealt with accordingly as the law requires. Though this burden I must bear, my heart remains resolute and my compassion offers justice as it is written. In the midst of all my upsets I take comfort in the prospect of a pleasant intermission. Refreshments are provided in the lobby and all are invited to partake of crawfish etouffee, jambalaya, andouille, and creamy pralines. Eat up! The Intermission Fool shall entertain us all.

DR JEKYLL AND MR HYDE

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde

Jovial Dr Jekyll played for juvenile Justice
                    a just jaspered journey
jokingly jumped a joyride
                                to juicy jukebox jabbering
in jackal jackboots
                         from nearby jungle

Dr Jekyll clasped a jackknife eating
                                  jambalaya to justify a
                             juggled juxtapositional
jurisdiction jamming
       as jugular vein jingled jewels
joyfully jauntily jaywalking
to a jay named Jim Jolly !

Onward he jumped to a
                                   Jungian junction
              Jupiter jocund watching his
 journeying joints
              journalese seemed a jibe jig
but neither Jewess, Jesuit
                            or jeweller jiggled this job

So he jerked his jess
                          like a jape for Japan
Jejuning onto January for the
                           next jangle of jasmine

No jellyfish was Dr Jekyll in Jordanian jerkin
           though sometimes Mr Hyde
                   with jeroboam swirling alongside !

Yuletide Pageant Merry Go Round Second Time

Hank's of Milton Creek

Listen Up, all good citizens of Milton Creek
If it's a night on the town and good food you seek
Come over to Aces
With your smilin' faces
The Grand Reopening's tonight. Come, take a peek!

Milt left his Aces Hotel to the entire town
No better place for a steak house, so come on down
It's got a new name, "Hank's"
In advance I'll say, "Thanks"
It serves the finest T-bones anywhere around

Restaurant and hotel are managed by Lin Lane
The town council swears it won't be part of a chain
Come early; take a seat
The steaks cannot be beat
Tonight there's free whiskey and imported champagne

Now, Lin is from way down yonder in New Orleans
She makes good chicken gumbo like most Cajun queens
It's good down home cookin
You don't need a bookin
Heard she's servin' jambalaya and collard greens

Right here tonight, in Milton Creek, as a surprise
Hanks will be introducing burgers and french fries
A dish loved in the South
It'll taste good in your mouth
But save room for pralines, and bourbon pecan pies

Mosey on over to Aces and have a bite
Tell all your friends and bring a hearty appetite
Get on your horse and ride
No guns allowed inside
There's a big party goin' on at Hanks tonight!

MUSICAL PASSION
Music is the living soul
And beating heart of humanity.
It lights my fire of passion
Or tames my restless spirit.

Music calls me to live, taste, feel and see.
The spark of hope and change is ignited.
I hear the voice of the silenced and
Feel the anguish of the oppressed.

The soothing, soulful sounds of
Mangione’s flugelhorn makes me
“Feel so Good. “

The gritty, nasally voice of Dylan
Calls me to listen, for the answers
“Blowin’ in the Wind.”

The rich baritone of Cash
Warns me not to fall
In to the “Ring of Fire.”

Fogerty’s powerful voice
Invites me to dance with Willie and the Po Boys
“Down on the Corner.”

With Hank I can taste that
Home made “Jambalaya”
On the bayou.

Peter, Paul and Mary
Take me to that cherry lane
with “Puff the Magic Dragon.”

I can now call myself “Deacon Blues”
When I lose,
Becker and Fagan tell me.

I can taste the sweet
Tupelo Honey that flows
From the voice of Van Morrison

Jim Morrison said it for me
taking poetic license
music Light’s My Fire.

In New Orleans

We try to do some local things
Whenever we’re away,
Although we’re clearly tourists
On a short and jam-packed stay.

So we signed up for a cooking class
And watched a chef prepare
Gumbo, jambalaya and pralines,
Some Cajun-Creole fare.

It all was most delicious
And Chef Austin was the best.
We left there more than satisfied
And happily impressed.

Not needing any dinner,
We checked out some local jazz,
Where Tom Hook, a piano player,
Entertained us with pizzazz.

It’s wonderful to have a chance
To try out something new
As a little break before you’re back
To what you always do.
