Mama's Golden Pond Cried
Mama loved to chew
off the Golden Pond
bone
chew the fat
of their autumn leaves,
dressed in splendor,
a scenic lake and cabin,
her pseudo stage,
of her new found barbies,
smiling at her
smile they did
so minted the american dream,
their lives golden.
These.
These
pocketed keepsakes she kept
next to the chip
on her shoulder.
Yet her music plays
ill forgotten lore and simile
of her family and children,
scruffy unkempt dogs
she never proud,
she drummed over and over,
her catch phrase.
We watched the movie
long ago,
in her element,
in her tempo,
bated breath,
tears falling
and detached.
Yet her music plays
so content
and spawning such a fondness
in her heart,
of them rowing a boat,
aging, golden.
Yet her music plays
sadly
in her heart
of emptiness
at home
dying,
lifeless grey eyes.
Yet, so steely
her song
snow blind of her son
sitting next to her
in the darkening theater,
her wintry chill,
so indigenous,
taking life hostage.
Just my child
her teeth
chattering
to piano keys
playing,
playing in her concerto
dancing on golden pond...
such a waste her lips mimed.
Her keys.
And mine sink low.
... Just my child
she sat akimbo,
in silhouette,
tears I imagine,
and her voice
... and her voice
once icy then
now a scar,
a ghost,
... scruffy come here.

In wooden covered wagons on the out
Flanks of town is where you will find the
Gypsy encampment.
Do you have an inquisitive mind?
They have all kinds of entertainment
That has to be lucrative for them to stay
Alive you'll find.
Some people say their fugitives which
Keeps them on the out skirts of town
To where their confined
Yet, through their travels they've become
Quite intelligent.
They make honey sweets with no
Preservatives that are just to a dieter
Or diabetic unkind.
In wooden covered wagons on the out
Flanks of town is where you will find the
Gypsy encampment.
People arrive to have their fortunes told.
They see the signs in front of bright
Colored tents where the palm reader
And the targot card dealer gives them
Some enlightenment
To take them away from their daily grind.
The tamborine shakes and a long haired
Gypsy girl with green eyes will mystify
Any passer by steps in to the circle which
Is the cue for the instruments.
Do you have an inquisitive mind?
I guess so. The crowd moves in closer to
See rose colored lips, pearl white teeth,
Provocative hips, that are really defined.
Sway to the beat as waist length black
Hair with just the right amount of curl
Swirls with abandonment.
Her ankle length bright colorful skirt
Shows off tiny dainty bare feet and
Shapely legs as it unfurls unconfined.
See they have all kinds of entertainment.
Watch her spin, the way she tilts her chin
As you take the dance in it gets under
Your skin as a testament
That nothing can compete with the Gypsy
Girl when she has combined
The twirls and whirls to the music in her
World she is definitely in her element.
It has to be lucrative for them to stay
Alive you'll find.
Her dance is designed
As a convenient
Way for all to hurl coins of any kind
To help support their wonderful life of
Merriment.
In wooden covered wagons on the out
Flanks of town is where you will find
The gypsy encampment.
Diana asked father to change her into a mighty, formidable centaur.
He was surprised; she would not relent his determined child, his star.
So he sent her to the wizard, who had spells to do most everything.
Wee wizard changed her into a centaur and gave her arrows that zing.
Arrows were magic, but he knew she would need them more than ever.
Road would be more difficult, she would return to a human never.
Her suiters were stunned, they ran away, fast, horrified by her change.
She was in her element, however, living life in her intended range.
Spent her life making sure the forest animals were nurtured and safe.
Diana of the woods let go of the human men – William and Rafe.
They could go live with others who wanted to be wives who deferred.
Living with animals in the forest is what she truly keenly preferred.
Her god father watched her from his high seat in Olympus, and smiled.
Saw his true daughter -a mighty formidable, happy centaur, and wild.
Her mother, her grandparents and great grandparents were proud too. Diana living the life that she had always wanted, so heartfelt and true.
UNFOLDING
I was born in light of nature's splendor
The Almighty One is my soul Deliverer
I was born to rise with faith somehow
I am messenger goddess of the rainbow
I was born when the moon in her element bloomed
I came forth to song of rain, my heart in tuned
I was born a quiet stream, a whisper
On stage of life I learned to holler
I was born when summer began to simmer
Mama said, each September, Belizeans are happier
I was born the third of seven
Like dew in spring, I've grasped concept of heaven
I was born to voice and pen my opinion
I revel in thoughts given by One and only One.
