On the Road To Vezalay Part 2

The Holy Land

The butchers slab of Hell, of Christian and Infidel.
Swords slash and cut lose the soul, fear! not
conscience pays the toll. And yet with battles
endless plight, the cut and thrust, ferocious might.
For all the dark one ray of light, that gentle kiss
one moonlit night.
Antioch, no quarter asked no quarter given, the
sword from blood to bone is driven. Then in the
twinkling of an eye, the pain a sickening cry. Thud
the arrow hit my chest, piecing bone and armoured
vest. From horse to earth I did fall, with failing
breath her name did call.
And there he stood with coal black eye, be still
Christian or you will die. The arrow is close to
heart, I must remove less the poison start. With
those words I drift to sleep, back to Avalon and
a promise keep. Was it hours or was it days, the
Devil tricks and mind it plays. When I woke he
was kneeling east, offering prayer to man and
beast. He saw me said rest Christian your heart
is sweet, it is full of love but incomplete. A
greener land and softer hue awaits, it is not we
who control our fates. Pray tell me what's your
name, he said call me friend are we not the same.
Jealousy and greed corrupt our aim, in our Gods
name we create our shame. He gave me rest he
gave me balm, kept the fire and kept me warm.
I asked him why. He gave me that soft dark eyed
look, he said Christian it's all about a book. A man
who stopped to aid an injured man, a man ignored
by his own country men. Yes I said the good
Samaritan, and my book has these stories to.
Your stronger now your wound has healed, time
to leave this foreign field. My family awaits with
open arms, peace and warmth and all its charms.
I clenched his hands and kissed his cheek, as if
brothers in words did speak.

A Muse, Not Amused

SOFTLY THE VOICE COMES FROM WITHIN
SPEAKING THROUGH ME TO MY PEN
ONTO THIS PAPER LAID DOWN BEFORE ME
THE WORDS COME FASTER, MORE READILY
AS I GET INTO THE RHYTHM AND RHYME
I OFTEN WISH I HAD THIS EASY A TIME

SPEAKING

SOME PEOPLE HAVE A WAY WITH WORDS,IT SEEMS
I ONLY SPEAK FREELY AND ELEQUENTLY IN DREAMS
IN A GROUP MY VOICE OFTEN STUMBLES AND FALLS
WHAT WAS MEANINGFUL A MOMENT AGO SHUDDERS AND STALLS
TRY STILL I DO, AND AGAIN TO EXPRESS
THOUGH SELDOM DO MY WORDS SATISFY ME, I CONFESS

SPEAKING

THAT MUST BE WHY PUBLIC FIGURES WRITE SPEACHES
THE RIGHT WORDS ELUDE EVEN THE LONGEST REACHES
SO I FEEL THE POINT IS HEREBY MADE
I WILL STOP BEFORE MY VOICE STARTS TO FADE
AND I MUST SIT HERE AND LISTEN TO LAUGHTER
THIS IS WHY I WANT A CIGERETTE SO SOON AFTER

SPEAKING

none of this is nesessarily true, i claim poetic liscence, and am a creative writer, so if you
think you think? think again, or that you know what i meant? guess what! can you imagine
shakespears chagrin? they think i said WHAT???????????? or meant WHAT?????????????

cretins need not read, or apply. kindly go to grammarschool and social graces school, and
learn to interact with your betters.

disconsolently,

Reading

When I read a book it tells me a tale
It can be exciting very rarely stale
Books are full of words which tell
Stories in which the bookshops sell

Newspapers with stories that can say
All about what is in the news today
Tabloids tell the news that is new
You have to decipher just what is true

If education is what you need
Text books are used to plant the seed
Learning to do something you need to do
There is a book somewhere for you

Whether it’s a novel or biography
There is always something new to see
A glossy magazine or a TV guide
To see what’s on the other side

To get lost in a book is easily done
Especially if the book is good fun
Reading words as they express within
The story as told by the author therein

Words can express the way we feel
Fantasy stories or a life for real
On any subject about anything
Words when strung together bring

A comic is funny for the kids and you
An alphabet book to learn the kids too
From an early age it is important to learn
To read all the wonderful books in turn

Free-Verse Is My Curse....

Free-verse is my curse since the day I arrived on this universe.
I set sentences ablaze and leave the reader to stargaze.
See, poetry is a freedom of one's expression.
Multiple words entertwined with nouns and verbs is my obsession.
Why should my poetry be labled to a certain form?
My work is far from luke warm.
My expressions and visuals are hot like a firestorm.
       I take life's trials and tribulations mix 'em in a pot;
Along with creativitiy and imagination sending you to Camelot.
I write about the unusual and extremely bizarre,
And I have no marbles left in my jar.
A hidden jewel in metaphors opening closed doors.
Slicing words with my scimitar, A fallen star causing war.
From the pages of my writing pad, my words roar.
My sanctuary is in the adjective in my vocabulary.
My obituary will say "A poet so damn extraordinary."
When I finally receive deaths blow,
I want them to bury me in the cemetery next to Edgar Allen Poe!

Education:

Mother always said that education would lead us to the land of success
Mother always had away of making education fun
Mother said a little hard work and devotion never harmed anyone

Mother believed that hope and faith worked hand in hand
Mother always had away with words
Mother once said that education would make you a fisherman of all fishermen

I never understood what mother meant
Until I grew out of childhood and became a man
Little children listen to the words of the wise

Education is the food of survival
Without it you will wither
Like the leaves on the tree top on a cold wintery night

The wind will blow violently against your branches
And not even your charm or your good looks will be able to stand its might
Lack of education would be your downfall

So listen to the words of the wise that no longer walks the pathway of a fool
I too was a child
But now I am a man

Mother was right
Education opens the doorway to great things.

Spelling Test

SPELLING TEST (there are over 30 words contained within this poem that are often
misspelt by the common man)

We all do on occasion temporarily misspell.
Amateur or connoisseur of language, who can tell?
Conscientiously piece together, peculiar bits of rhyme.
Manoeuvre letters gorgeously for others to refine.

Discipline and experience, all apparent to you and me.
Pronunciation not enough to spell linguistically.
Skilful realignment of the letters needs addressed.
Paralytic implications quintessentially expressed.

A ricochet of rhythm, sabotaged in a queue of verse.
Cacophony of tone with their spellings unrehearsed.
Is your spelling kamikaze,a haemorrhaging of ink.
A karaoke nightmare, communication on the brink.

So literary geniuses,i am all apologetic.
If my utterance is rabbled and my spelling is pathetic.
You see, many words i utilize in this poem i create.
Have been misspelt for centuries, the most common is
separate

Words

Words, only words, such simple things. Funny how they can make me laugh,or make me cry.
Words to encourage. Words to discourage. Words that make me want to live. Words that
make me want to die. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. But is your
heart full of lies? Have you forgotten how to cry? Do you like being alone? Is your heart cold
as a stone? Think, to take the time to reason. To balance each word, as words can change
like the seasons. Think, to try and understand. To listen, to watch, to interpit, and give fact to
the fiction. Without contradiction. Understanding they are just words, nothing more, nothing
less, words.
