Someday I'd like to wander free
like butterfly, like bumblebee,
perhaps to plant a willow tree
beside the silent solemn sea,
before these things exist no more,
from mountain top to shifting shore,
when, soon, bald eagles cease to soar
and build their aeries nevermore,
and fish forsake polluted streams
(where sulfur swims and typhoid teems
since no one really cares it seems)
to die inside our toxic dreams
while ice caps melt and winter steams,
and all the air surrounding reeks
as children choke, for no one speaks
of fracking wells or oily leaks
(Big Brother's silenced all critiques!),
and rancid rains acidify
so woods no longer multiply
(for God so wills, we can't deny,
which is, of course, our alibi).
And as the deepest ocean fills
with plastic bags, and garbage spills
upon the plains, across the hills
and turns to poison dust that kills
wild dingo dogs and daffodils
which sink in swamps’ forsaken swills,
the mocking bird makes light and trills
(midst waning wails of whippoorwills)
"Behold the surreal scene that chills
and greet the dread that death distills!
You've had your day with all the frills
that brought the flood and final ills
that can't be cured with bitter pills
nor yet undone with further thrills
of profit gained that grinds and fills
dead desert sands with dollar bills."
EPILOGUE
Though swaddled still in infancy,
we feel we’ve reached our primacy
(aloof, though preaching piously,
disdaining deeds of decency)
and have no need of augury.
But in the pit of prophecy
the crucial questions seem to be:
“Is doom Earth’s fate, our destiny
to twist in tides of agony
destroying nature’s progeny
with no return a certainty
assured by death’s finality?”
and
”Should we plant a willow tree
to someday weep for you and me?”
GOD NEVER BLINKS
Grace comes to fill your soul with peace;
Offer to be one mind and heart;
Deed now distills finesse and ease.
Nurture and see as grandeur starts;
Explore the world just where you are;
Voice happy thoughts to greet what comes;
Expect all swirls writ in the stars;
Rich passion plots joy's sacred sums.
Blessings stream now in precious glow;
Love with sure heart with mind that thrills;
Intent your dream with choice that shows;
Niche fabled art in form and fill.
Keep posture right with poignant tact;
See the sure light that guides bold act.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ann of my days,
Days that fan cheer,
Cheer weaves each play,
Play that lives here.
Style wears a smile,
Smile that funds cheer,
Cheer lives each mile,
Mile where love piles.
Grace wears a face,
Face of fond light,
Light shines a trace,
Trace of fine sight.
Love shows just how,
How lovely sees,
Sees truth right now,
Now that must be.
Here in these grounds,
Grounds of time past,
Past that goes round,
Round and round fast.
There in those trace,
Trace now and here,
Here in this space,
Space beyond fear.
Swift and sure days,
Days and nights spread,
Spread with light rays,
Rays that purge dread.
Quest in full bloom,
Bloom in sweet chimes,
Chimes that fill room,
Room in sure mime.
Words loiter here,
Here with good grace,
Grace leaps to cheer,
Cheer fronts this space.
Waltz to the tune,
Tune in to bliss,
Bliss in sand dunes,
Dunes in a gist.
Rhymes in good time,
Time that distills,
Distills fond chimes,
Chimes that reveal.
Line after line,
The music floats,
Floats to define,
Define this boat.
Start ushers end,
End frames the start,
Start to prime trend,
Trend with sure heart.
Leon of my nights,
Nights that flood poise;
Poise in the light,
Light that springs voice.
CODE SAD MODE
By Leon Enriquez
My heart knows how love hurts
Blush of wild fling casts dirt
By day sad dreary hues
By night pain comes on cue
My soul feels turmoil brief
As sadness marks high grief
My distress gropes and sways
Now I feel slow time slay
My pain seeps through my veins
I feel loss pique disdain
Upon my bed I feel
Fatigue as hurts distills
~~~~~~~~~
My tale of anguish drains
Cold blaze burns all in vain
Yet pain grounds me right here
A slave as fear endears
My days are spent most sad
My heavy heart now mad
Hides in dark empty feel
As burdens cluster spill
My night stains dreary dwell
Beyond lost charms that tell
Love is a bloated gist
Beyond the broken list
~~~~~~~~~
My quest greets a sad mode
Blush of unease stains code
The choking knot binds pain
A hangman’s rope now drains
My deluge of sadness
Chokes a certain madness
I try my best to run
Yet my pain exults pun
My touch and feel grinds rut
Unveils unease that cuts
Abide with bloody thaw
Of anxious feelings raw
~~~~~~~~~
My madness feels extreme
Pain gathers rancid cream
Slice of misadventure
As hurts bleed odd censure
My eyes sense dark night groom
Loss of light in this room
I sit with dark shadows
As odd feelings swallow
My late trip gains a grip
As melancholy rips
Dismay whips the sad tale
Stern defiance thus prevails
~~~~~~~~~
My plight decrees sad flight
Blind afterglow put right
If only I can see
The way things now can be
My way to face this strife
To simply live this life
Through a winding journey
That mellows ecstasy
My poise of story line
A pickle in life’s brine
To find the rainbow here
In tints that arouse cheer
Set your mind clear with heart that knows,
Aim to live best that way of grace;
Choice sparkles cheer with a fond glow,
Reach with fond zest beauty you trace;
Embrace wise tact that flavours good,
Dance deep delight with lovely craze.
Voice your pure act with humble mood,
Ignite insight with charming daze;
Rouse in good time true purpose bold,
Trust paves the way through light and dark;
Urge precious chimes as truth unfolds,
Etch well each day with wonder's spark;
Sense in the now the path you take.
Near or far be what your soul needs;
Opt to know how love breaks to make;
Work thus sets free a wholesome feed.
Live each new step along the way,
Instant the touch of grace that cures;
Glimpse follows map through life's highway,
Happy as such the heart made pure;
Thrill in the peace of mellow feel.
Taste of good cheer through ups and downs,
Reap gentle ease as love distills;
Use joy to steer both smiles and frowns,
Tints of pure light caress your soul,
Health comes your way with fond employ.
Wealth beyond sight now makes you whole,
Inch thus each day with windy joy;
Speak with words kind to bear life's load,
Dream of good times that anchor zest;
Opt peace of mind on winding road,
Mull precious rhymes on trip and quest.
Light and love shine though thick and thin,
Old plots make new as seasons change;
Vet works most fine to breeze times seen,
Etch a bold you to mellow strange.
A raw quiet
stretches like a membrane
across the night.
Pulled tight it waits to amplify
the slightest sound.
Each passing minute dials up
the volume of a nerve
strung to snare
the powdery whispers of a moth
or the faint ticking wheezed
out of an old wristwatch
kept beside the bed.
Others sneak the outskirts,
undeciphered, just out of reach
of being named.
Then in time
thoughts take over
and chatter in an aimless
dialogue of the brain.
The past is replayed
again and again
in regrets or unhealed shame
or bent to shape
itself another way as if
a choice was had
to change what happened
into what should have been.
Or the mind stammers, afraid,
paused on the lip
of what's to come,
a dull dread
of something unshaped
palling over the days ahead,
or plucks some planned event
for it to fill
with imagined pleasure
of what might be.
A distant siren
tunnels the dark
with its urgent wail
then thins to silence.
Unease lingers in its wake
and slowly tightens
until all distills
to just the sound
of a muffled pulse
beating in the chambers
of an ear.
One day it will stop.
Windy rustle here;
In a mire brewed
betwixt puddles of hell and mute dissent
a martyr wades -
weighed down by chains of shame and disdain
alas the thirsting self-absorbed swamp
distills and swills her stewed silence
and swallows the last embers
from her goblet of dreamer’s fire
pursed breaths are pickpocketed by the shallows
in a breathless vertical twist
an escapist is lost in the swirl of a chambered nautilus
distanced and deserted in the dance of descent
stillness belies the waterline’s greed
as a heroine’s salvage is suffocated -
the slick of self-appointed apathy anoints the surface
and a disquieted wind rises to bend the will of reeds
their flutes airing plainsong in forced supplication
yet carelessly cast away like spindrift from broken crests
while storm clouds blindfold wide-eyed skies
stifling any play of sun on water
Hart Crane tribute
forsake our eyes
in a lovers cry
&sigh
shadows sweep decends
that
doubtful day:
a lie revealed
now proved
first seen
in its fall
on a cloud
beyond desire
a tide of voices
sleeves
of sound
wash away
slowly distills
clustering
then
sleeps
out of sight
singing low
of long ago
times rcalled
I used to see:
timeless
now torn
on wayward plight
silently
below
into the dan
rhythm
drew a crash of leaves
like
a tide of destiny
change
began
consummate&
free
dream no more
with
barren trees
without a rein
remember&
atone
its not too late
sands
are running
the hushed lands
home
to our own
we all
in thrall
while
time clears
in endless space
it
smiles
as in a cloud
of
infinity ahead
abandoned pastures
mumurless
blind ecstasy
& mutual glee
unvanquished space
&
chiselled heights
with
sleeping havens
none escapes
the vision
in our hands
now
let go
now more alone
one by one
to
grieve
the backward vision
through
the smoke
tinselled hands
through windowed panes
of
seasons
fleeting
palatial white
in a show
survey
not
heard before
in antiquity or
parentage
the heart is wrung
forsees
the end
with easy sight
on&on
for evermore
one
after
one
breath
made cry's
surpassing call
time
My mind distills away.
Scraps from the underworld.
Of education, tradition and media ****.
I'm tired of caring.
Sick of hearing, if I could.
Control my ears closed.
Block them from ******** talk.
Chain my eyes off the road.
The road is blind,
It twirls in murky worm fences.
I can't trust it. I don't know it's source.
I need to run from it.
The deep valleys eroded.
Brick red flooring, it's Ibadan.
Wobbling houses like sinking boats.
Like the school, the earth is.
Mixed with fire and water.
Bisexual topics, racial terms.
It hurts people, Education does.
Other opinions.
T-rays reveal ancient scripts.
Kept secret from us.
To lull in the sinking boat.
Like torpid trees.
Staring and observing.
The mystics become religion.
Which in turn, morphology of tradition.
A culture brings unity.
Under the slavery of memories heard.
To bare the burden of language.
A barrier, a paranoid ant.
To consume doubt.
Embrace the stories, devour the myths.
