Is democracy a voice for the people,
Or is it just a word?
Do we strive for fair debate,
Or do discussions become absurd?
Parliament needs discussions,
A rigorous and fair debate.
From same sex marriage to deforestation,
To corporate income tax rate.
I want a democracy where parliament argues,
Then decides on our rules.
I never want one party to stifle debate,
Treating us all like docile fools.
Everyone, from right to left,
Needs to have their opinions said.
By voicing and considering each opinion,
Our democracy gets fed.
You see, a healthy parliament can't be dominated
By a simple majority elected.
That would be a dictatorship,
And dictatorships got rejected.
In the House of Reps. the majority can introduce
New bills and new forms.
It's the democratic Senate these ideas
Get sculptured into social norms.
To live in a country where democracy is nurtured,
Nurtured and understood.
Knowing the entire populace has a voice,
A vote for the common good.
International Earth day prompts us not to forget
that the world we inhabit is under great threat
Blue oceans are being choked by plastic pollution
reduce, reuse and recycle is the simple solution
The balance of nature has been upset by man
species close to extinction, poachers strike if they can
If we don’t act quickly these rare breeds we’ll lose
their only protection is in nature reserves or zoos
Felling the rain forest is an issue we must combat
deforestation is destroying animal’s natural habitat
The effects of global warming on earth is far reaching
reducing fossil fuels is what we should be preaching
Educating both young and old is the key to success
we must act together to try to sort out earth’s mess

Brook broke rocks and pebbles, did much toil
yielding land on river side, full fertile
River ran digging softening soil.
Flora fauna shown in Nature's own style.
Breeze blowing on fragrance of fresh flower
Habitats lived in clean environment
Field forest blessed by happy shower
Dirt less pure amazing ambient.
Concrete structures, factories to come up.
Started merciless deforestation.
Lots of industry to grow develop.
No proper care on waste or pollution.
River dried, soil and air poisoned.
Helpless habitats to meet ruthless end.
Dear humans, do you read me, I live in space,
Merely a being, sent by God, I'm all over the place.
I circle the world, live among debris,
You leave behind, you ruined your planet,
Now you want to go to Mars, so that you can
Pollute that planet in a few thousand years,
I have shed enough tears,
A millennium has gone by, and yet my fears,
Are much the same, not only the land you destroy,
But what of your beautiful oceans, you have caused
Global destruction, ice is melting, oceans rising
Lands worldwide are drowning, farms are flooding,
Mudslides send houses into never-never land,
We must do something, you all say the same,
Well do it.
Have you absolutely lost your sanity,
Your complete mentality in irreversible totality,
First think of your ocean life, ban plastic bags,
Deforestation must stop, this must be immediate
All trees are life giving, sustaining an all encompassing
Balance, animals lose their forests and move into
Suburbs, confused, looking for food.
You overpopulate,
Why three or four children, be grateful have one
Others so sad, as they have none.
Unemployment on the rise,
The poor have no chance of winning first prize.
You have brought about division between
Colors, creeds and nations, stop it, we are all
Brothers and sisters, please help the poor
Who come to ask for food at your door
Disparity of wealth crazy, billionaires now more
Than before, whilst the poor live under bridges
Or scavenge in garbage, shame on us, shame on us,
Shame on our governments, access to water is
Humanitarian, all should have access.
I therefore beseech you to do the right thing, be kind,
Be mindful, allow love to seep into your heart,
Don't risk becoming an inevitable mortal fatality,
Nurture your planets ozone deficiency, begin,
with healing your unhinged mental capacity
The beginning starts with you,
But of course, that you knew.
The Sahara Desert has enough sand to provide concrete housing for Everyone,
the poor, the middle class, the rich and elite of the entire planet's population,
with sand leftover, providing housing in the event of a population explosion.
Concrete housing would eliminate deforestation tremendously,
If housing were an automatic for everybody globally,
an enormous mental toll would be relieved from everybody,
and this Free Housing could be provided globally,
within our lifetime literally,
in a global Resource Based Economy.
I for one would love to free myself totally from the bondage of money.
There is a mammal in Madagascar that is nearing extinction
Who, through an unusual evolution, has a unique distinction
Like a woodpecker, it taps on the trees through the bark
Vibrating insects and bugs to eat in the dark.
Instead of a beak it uses a long digit on its hands
The middle one having grown to a rather long expanse
Its tapping at night makes a unique forest sound
And with its long middle digit it scoops up the grubs that it found.
The name of this primate? It’s called the Aye-aye,
And due to deforestation it’s a species going bye-bye
But for the few years on this planet it still might linger
It looks like to me, they’re giving man the finger.
Absolutely true – look it up.
Fairer to white lily is beauty of pondering mind,
Rather than lovely face, that we so apparently find,
Sharpened through acquired extensive knowledge,
Glory of sunrise, wisdom must one acknowledge,
Nature's lap of luxury, I sit and think,
Are we swindling hard on it, at a wink ?
Took more than hundreds of years to evolve,
Are we so quick ready to crudely dissolve ?
Cultivated distant thoughts come to my mind,
Romanticism to nature, why not unwind ?
Global warming , pollution and deforestation,
Can't we dedicate and devote to our nation ?
Cruelty to animals, man's worst instinct,
How many would we still make extinct ?
Gender equality another real concern,
How long will leave women to inside burn ?
My beauty is only skin deep, to delight of a lover,
Silky white gown, perfect choice of a ravisher !!

There may be troubled times ahead
if things do not change.
In as little as 30 years monsoons could stop
this is due to deforestation.
To avoid this happening we need to
reforest vast areas.
It is not possible to plant trees without
preparing the land first.
It can take up to 10 years to re-bond the land
and get it stable enough to support trees.
The Monsoon is one of earth's most important
weather systems.
If we lose it climates will change completely
and the earth could be little better than a dust bowl.
Activeremedy.org is fighting hard to avoid this happening
lead by two ladies who have dedicated their lives to this cause.
In a little as 60 years water could cease to exist
and with it life as we know it.
People need to be aware and to find out what they can do.
By working together we can hopefully avert this crisis.
Deforestation
Sore cosmos, maimed nature
Silently pouring irate invective
On myopic mortals
Without a lamp or vista
Beauty lost to the beast
Pristine lands, barren grounds
Green fields, brown meadows
Nature mislay, love lost
Man's gain, nature's pain
Buy the forest, sell it not
The Owl mourns its lost cottage
The Lion roars in disillusion
At the sight of its looted Kingdom
Elephants trumpet in hunger and anger
Loud wails echo in the animal kingdom
As humanity hails new conquest
Snow-covered oceans thawing
Seals, sore memories for Bears
The forest shaved bald
As the torrents become bold
Temperature soaring
Men rejoicing
In cathedrals without hues.

The earth is a cigarette,
The human race the lighter.
Is there a way to save it,
With millennials as the fighters?
The grim reaper draws a puff,
And the withdrawing end is acid rain,
Deforestation, over fishing, air pollution,
And other deadly stuff.
Global warming and thin ozone layers,
Are symbolic of the flame...
That's depleting out natural resources,
And melting polar caps all the same.
Genetic engineering and playing God,
Is drawing us toward the butt.
With lungs in soil erosion and degradation,
Over population and other negative things we've trod.
Let's be serious and stop the joking,
To save the Earth, we must quit smoking!
