I’m looking for a professional witch doctor right now.
I want him to make me a voodoo doll somehow.
I want that doll to look just like you.
You are going to pay for the things you do.
You looked like a lover, but one that was untrue.
I want to stick pins in that doll and make you feel pain.
This is what I want to do without refrain.
We appeared to be on the right road, but we hit a skid.
I want you to pay dearly for all the bad things you did.
That witch doctor is good. He even has free delivery.
If I buy one doll now, I get a second doll free.
The whole deal comes with a money back guarantee.
All I need is to have my credit card ready.
I’m getting even for all the trouble you gave me.
Just kidding. Please don’t take me seriously.
My brain is on holiday
Sure wish it could have alerted me
Was cruising along having a ball
Then WHAM!!!
“Sorry, I'm on holiday”
Doesn't happen often to me
But when it does, I freak out
What if in my remaining years
I never write another poem
Yikes! What a calamity that would be
Still got lots to write about
I think I have... I know I have... I'm sure I have
But what happened???
Something is short circuiting my thought box
Write the first line, then scrap it
Write the first line, then scrap it
Write the first line, then scrap it
Help!!! Someone, please tell me what to do
Have the “thought police” intervened
Have I exceeded my yearly word count already
Please oh great overseer of verboseness
If I have exceeded my limit
Can I buy extra words for the year
I'll pay big dollars...
Jeannine waited for Harold to make his move
She wanted a diamond ring, and thought he was in the groove
He said there was no hurry. What did he have to prove?
He was a charmer, and his lines were smooth.
He won’t buy the cow if the milk is free
Said her mom, her uncle, and her weird Daddy.
She ignored their warnings, with a tee-hee-hee.
After all, she told her sisters, they are not me.
Harold has never proposed, but Jeannine has done it twice.
She swallowed her pride and neither time was really nice.
He is a fool and ignorant, said his own Grandma Rice.
But Jeannine did not want her unwelcome advice.
She bought several bride gowns through the years.
That she might never get married was one of her fears.
Harold eventually got married, after fifty years of teasing.
To someone other than Jeannine, which was not very pleasing.

Reoriented Nerida handed padlock, blessed
Fathoms red cross heiress of hospital
Imposter student enrols wild idea envisaged
Wider scope than she ever deserved
Ostentatious vistas brew broadwater blizzard
Novice nurse serves a nostrum absurd
Ultraviolet facet inferno disco jive diamond

Thank you, dear old Doris
With the gold of the night, I will buy dreams hidden in the stars,
On wings of wind, I'll fly over realms of longing and mysteries.
I will gather moonbeams to weave myself a garment of magic,
In fields of shadows, I'll sow thoughts that grow in harmony.
From the morning dew, I'll distill elixirs of forgetting and longing,
Under the velvet sky, I'll dance with the phantoms of dreams in flight.
In the heart of the forest, I'll plant trees with fruits of mystery,
And in their branches, I'll hide whispers of love that never unravel.
From the ribs of time, I'll sculpt goddesses of light and dreams,
Bearing in their gaze the eternity of a forbidden kiss.
With an echoing voice, I'll unravel words that ache in the heart,
On the path of forgetting, I'll seek truths that don't easily break.
On the forgotten land, I'll raise temples of unwritten dreams,
In the altar of shadows, I'll light candles of promised longings.
When dawn embraces the earth with its golden mantle,
I'll keep in my soul the echo of a world of mystery and treasure.
In the waves of time, I'll sail on the sea of eternal dreams,
And in the port of love, I'll anchor with desires that sift, not extinguish.
In the rhythm of silence, I'll dance alongside the shadows of dreams,
And in every moment, I'll seek the light hidden in longing.
Buy a Donkey
The Sunday papers had nothing to tell
except for the usual trivia and endless
wars somewhere on the planet
As I get older and older, nothing much
is of importance, novels are good only
for taking our mind off the ennui
I used to write poetry and hoped to
publish until I realized it was of no
importance for anyone or me
Very few things in our lives are important
it does not stop wars; we are as stupid
as before the wheel.
Yesterday, I visited a donkey ranch and
thought these animals are important
when fleeing from tribal wars
We spend a set number of years here
much of it on bagatelles like work and
pay negotiations and pension reforms
When of years are over, nothing changes
except who got what of our lot, what
I can do for the future is to buy a donkey
My brain is on holiday
Sure wish it would alert me
I'm cruising along having a ball
Then WHAM!!!
“Sorry, I'm on holiday”
Doesn't happen often to me
But when it does, I freak out
What if in my remaining years
I never write another poem
Yikes! What a calamity that would be
Still got lots to write about
I think I have... I know I have... I'm sure I have
But what happened???
Something is short circuiting my thought box
Write the first line, then scrap it
Write the first line, then scrap it
Write the first line, then scrap it
Help!!! Someone please tell me what to do
Have the “thought police” intervened
Have I exceeded yearly the word count already
It's only April!
Please oh great overseer of verboseness
If I have exceeded my limited
Can I buy extra words for the year
I'll pay big dollars...

Watch the old miser now begin to cry,
Alongside his fancy mail-order queen,
Over the things that money cannot buy.
Wearing an expensive suit and red tie,
The evil king still appears on the screen -
Watch the old miser now begin to cry.
Asking the Electoral College why
There are so many states caught in between
Over the things that money cannot buy.
From his podium he always would lie,
And bribe his people with paper of green -
Watch the old miser now begin to cry.
There is no sense to even start to try
To guess which way some of the states could lean -
Over the things that money cannot buy.
Overseas, soldiers continue to die,
When this will stop is still yet to be seen.
Watch the old miser now begin to cry
Over the things that money cannot buy.

You were willed the family homestead.
The price was that Eden drained from your eyes.
A life so weighted now
that it began cracking the mind.
Battling things real and imagined.
Praising Jesus, while keeping company with darker things.
Sanity is running on empty.
You're shaking hands with hatchets.
Making deals with death.
Your soul is in disintegration mode.
I've tossed you a line many times.
Only to be ignored many times.
Perhaps the line was too thin; I apologize.
Perhaps you were too arrogant; you'd never apologize.
Either way, I had to flee the friendship.
When your darkest color bled into mine.
Those goblins are advancing on the old homestead.
Perched upon the broken fence.
My dear dying friend,
It's too late to patch or mend when there is no cloth left.
Let's have lunch in the next life. I'll buy.
When it came time to picking names for Christmas presents…their Dad was the name no one would vie for…because they all knew, when it came to presents, their dad was hard to buy for.
It didn’t matter who put their hand into the hat and drew out their dad’s name…when they asked him what he wanted…his answer was always the same.
“I’m surrounded by the beauty of nature and as long as we don’t destroy it…I’ve already been gifted with a number of ways in which I can enjoy it.
I can see sunrises and sunsets, hear the birds and smell the flowers too. I can taste the mushrooms from my garden and touch the morning dew.
I have a few aches and pains from growing older but I am lucky to be healthy…and though I don’t have a lot of money in the bank…in so many other ways…I’m wealthy.
I have a roof over my head, clothes on my back, food to eat and books to read. I have the love of my wife, my family and friends…what more do I need?
Then he would smile, stare at whoever asked the question that year and say…”I think the best gift would be…if everyone in the world was as hard to buy for as me.”
Yes, his children had a hard time buying a present for their dad when it came to Christmas Day...but looking back on all their Christmases together...they wouldn't have had it any other way.
