We started too many now we are two
And life feels an amusing mess
So open words work in public
For mouths are to speak
As ears are to hear quick
But no deaf and no dumb
As social concord fosters numb

Thinking of Dusty and Singing with Slim

As I travel the roads on the great outback
My mind takes the pictures of what I see
I wave to the travelers that wave to me
And I listen to Slim on my country CD
My mind wanders back to the Gulf travels I’ve been
In Company with Dusty, the girl of my dreams
We would laugh and joke, have a beer or two
Round the campfire, beneath the blazing moon
The family stories would come to light
Each hoping that one, would break the ice
For love was in the air, it was on my mind
Dusty sensed this, and said goodnight
AS I lay in my swag by the fire glow
My mind raced of ways that I could let Dusty know
Of how I felt, what I could say and what I could do
As I need to tell her in my own special way
Like the song of lost love in Camooweal
I’ve missed the chance to tell Dusty my story
For I’m left with heartache and feeling despair
For Dusty had gone and I know not where
So I travel on thinking of Dusty and singing with Slim
As he tells his stories of life in the great outback
For the words in his songs, they ring so true
That life in the bush is not for city people
But Dusty and Slim will forever be with me
Inspiring me to look forward and not back
For the long road ahead, I know not what it brings
But I will be thinking of Dusty and singing with Slim

I'm not sure exactly around where
But I know she's out there
With or without brown hair
I can't sit and wait like a lounge chair
I have to keep searching I'm now aware
Too much time I've been wasting it
Across all gradients
Her presence full of radiance
To me she is regarded in salience
She has a heart of gold
I start to not feel dark and cold
In every part of my soul
It's sad that carnage grows
Yet truly amazing how karma goes
I was down a path battling the hardest throes
Then I stopped and said it
She deserves lots of credit
Difficult to say if she got the message
And if what I meant was or was not effective
Beside all these pots and pans
Having honor can
Turn you into a stronger man
For you I offer my hand
Originally something I couldn't grasp
Now I've understood that
No need to always look back
Hard times should pass
In the present it's nice to share some good laughs
Sure at some point I could crash
But that's life not everything would last
Outlooks and outcomes always seemed grim and rough
The never ending pressure like I never did enough
I was beginning to get sick of much
But with a bit of luck
Plus willpower helped get rid of stuff
Since it's easy to give up
Yet to always go on and live is tough
Next thing you know it's all gone into dust
Funny how it's so different with her
My life doesn't wither
I always thought I'd be chopped liver
That the end would not differ
My choices were an odd mixture
Drowned my sorrows in lots of liquor
Was still lost no elixir
Until I finally got the picture
I was headed toward the gravesite
She helped change my way of life
With more than great advice
Day and night
She's a ray of light
When I went to break the ice
I figured she'd tell me to take a hike
But what she had to say was nice
"At times we all face a plight
May pay the price
Yet we can still make it right"

“I suggest we break the ice”, the interloper said.
I began chopping with a snow axe, and she laughed.
You must have been born with a silver spoon, she threw out.
I threw the snow axe at her; irritated she had called it a spoon.
She ducked, as cool as a cucumber.
I was irritated now.
“I’ve got your number,” she told me.
I had no idea how she had gotten it.
“I was not born yesterday,” she added.
I knew from her wrinkles she was not lying.
“This is as easy as ABC,” she said. “You are transparent.”
I was not a happy camper now, she was getting under my skin.
“Hold your horses,” I told her. “You are coming on too strong.”
“You’ll be in hot water if you continue egging me on like this.”
She laughed. “Let me put a bug in your ear,” she said.
“Hot water is something I do best after falling through a hole in the ice.”

"Time"
People often rat pack
Quick to have the last laugh
It's a sad fact
That we never could get past that
Time is something we can never have back
Few heed the forecast
Torches pass
Opposing forces clash
Since the prehistoric past
Waters roaring
Weather storming
Gases forming
Among all the forking paths
Time continuously soaring fast
Even before there was Pterodactyl's
Always looming in the distance like an Ant hill
Weighing heavily on the mind like an anvil
Can't fix what can kill with just an Advil
Time never at a standstill
Close by and in light years
Voices calling in my ear
It's quite clear
Why fear?
In the end we all die here
Eventually our time's near
Thank you for the nice talk
Push through when life is colder than an ice block
Don't give up, even if it's quite the shock
Something you can't just write off
That we can't fight the clock
Because never does time stop
It's not all about prize winning
Don't spend it all wine sipping
Be true instead of lying and tricking
Try swimming instead of ending it by quitting
While living
Endlessly time ticking
You don't always need night vision
Look hard to find what is quite hidden
Make the best of your life and live it
Only so much time is given
It held true, not just wrote in rhyme
Wasn't always going fine
Until I had a sober mind
Changes occurred over time

Always will be ups and downsides

While you can have a whale of a time
More to life than red wine
And dead guys (money)

Look into these sad eyes
Beyond my damn mind
God I don't even need to ask why
I'm always the bad guy
Constantly drunk and high
Will it ever be the last time?
They still propagandize
So quick to react and lie
Why does an honest man try?
They just backstab and pry
Because they lack spines
Fake asses
Snakes in the grasses
Continually I take chances
Before I capsize
Then flatline
I'm going to listen to these magpies
In the end that's fine
I'm always around some mutts
With a gun tucked
Near a pair of nunchucks
When push comes to shove
I'd truly love love
Yet all these people are out for bloodlust
My name continually dug up
Typical that they judge much
Getting sick of this dumb stuff
From sundown to sunup
Always out to belittle and tell you what's what
Sure they're similarities, but we don't live the same life
They always want me to take advice
Because I constantly pay the price
Now ain't that nice
Since you were just trying to prove your point, all day and night
This very well may surprise
When I break the ice
They always think it's sweet
Not all lifeforms transmit heat
Found out the other side of the hill is bleak
Among all these pipsqueaks
Humans still cheat
Lately, I've been on a killstreak
For a long time was up s****'s creek
Anything I could find I did eat
I keep to myself because too often I was with sheep
