If it is of the nature of the not-Self,
how can there be Samahdi?
If it is of the nature of the Self, how can there be Samahdi? If it is both "is" and "is not", how can there be Samahdi?
If all is one and of the nature of freedom,
how can there be Samahdi?

Notes:

It - inconscientousness or true realization.

Samahdi - the absorption of the mind in the absolute Brahman* (*all of existence), as a result of which the eternal Truth is realized.

Dattatreya* (* living sage said to have embodied the trinity) maintains that the practice of Samahdi has no justification.

If the universe of our experience is the not-Self, then the true "I" is not in the state of Samahdi, for Truth is not there.

If our experience is of the Self, then Samahdi is superfluous. How can The Self then be in Samahdi?

____________

first things first we must clarify what is meant by Self
it is our true luminous being with no agenda on its shelf
meaning eternal living light, pulsating with delight
unendingly radiating an effervescence soft white
feeling complete, at peace, enjoying unbound freedom
true singularity but not quite in God’s kingdom

with this preamble let us examine the exalted verse
we do so with spontaneity without need to rehearse
ah ~ we must pause to elaborate what samadhi is
it is oh reader not mere knowing but becoming the bliss fizz
akin to the Self, samadhi too is singularity but in passivity
as such lacking freedom, we are there somewhat in captivity

alright, with the preamble put in place we may now begin
we disagree with the scripture but please see it not as sin
having been, seen, become and so known our Self as light
made in God’s image, though complete, we lack clear sight
adding to our woes, awareness bereft of love is barren and dry
which is why we choose to descend to earth that love draws nigh

God alone is, the all there is, both manifest and unmanifest
as such, what is duality and this earth life but a soul test
that the Self, which is who we are, grows in love, wisdom and power
the three fold flame of Christ bestowed by God as a bliss shower
thus why should we negate samadhi or any flavour of life’s incense
all seemingly separate selves are in truth but God’s living essence

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1 verses 31-33

“31. When the pot is broken,/the space within it is absorbed in the infinite space and becomes undifferentiated.
When the mind becomes pure, I do not perceive any difference between the mind and the supreme Being.

32. There is no pot; there is no pot's interior space.
Neither is there an individual soul nor the form of an individual soul. Know the absolute Brahman, devoid of knowable and knower.

33. Know me to be that Self who is everything and everywhere at all times, the one who is eternal, steady, the All, the nonexistent, and the Existent.
Have no doubt.”

We are neither this form nor the mind
Who are we then, we may ask
Made in God’s image, we are eternal living light
To experience duality we live in this body cask

As formless presence we are more than the universe
We know it not because we are by senses hypnotised
Containerised in this shell we accept limitation
That is until truth of our true Self and God is realised

The shift needed is from duality to singularity
Or as scriptures say, ‘when our eye be single’
From objective to subjective awareness we become
Renouncing desires whence bliss pheromones mingle

When ego, the temporary earth life interface drops away
We then become that which transcends even formless soul
All manifestations are then seen as mere illusions
As the all that is, one with God, we then are finally whole

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1, verse 29

“There is no substance whatever which is by nature unlimited. There is no substance whatever which is of the nature of Reality. The very Self is the supreme Truth. There is neither injury nor non injury in It.”

all that is manifest, has a beginning and an end
unreal, a bubble of illusion, a thought projection
puppeteer unknown but puppets wish to ascend
therefore all spiritual practices require rejection

mind propels thought, impulsed by heart’s desire
so heart is where the ultimate truth may be found
at our core therein, ego is vaporised in a bliss fire
consciousness expands, we are no longer bound

presence discovers itself as an eternal living light
at peace, our formless awareness feels complete
possessing full freedom it’s radiance is pure white
suffused with God’s love, pulsating in bliss delight

mind cannot know the truth but soul can become
it is a metamorphosis, a complete transmutation
one with existence, we meld with the cosmic hum
bilocating thus breath by breath is our meditation

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1, verse 36

“Some seek nonduality, others duality.
They do not know the Truth, which is the same at all times and everywhere, which is devoid of both duality and nonduality.”

everything everywhere, all at once
the pulse of life in unending renewal
spontaneity has no need to rehearse
with love and light of God as life’s fuel

sacred geometry everywhere abounds
consciousness expands engulfing all
thus all manifestations are but illusions
so who in truth we are we must recall

self is living light self-aware and complete
this is the non-dual singularity sages seek
we pulsate in space-time dissolved peace
yet to grow in love don organic form weak

what is real and what may we call unreal
God alone is and is the only true knower
do not both duality and singularity entwine
which chakra is higher and which is lower

omnipresence, omniscience, omnipotence
enjoying full freedom, is God’s effervescence
resplendent with love and light is God’s heart
everywhere all at once shines His vital essence

"Don’t try to drag me into Oz
It will never work
I’ll kill the Munchkins and the witch
I swear I’ll go berserk"
--From "Malice In Wonderland" by Joyce Rugg

The scandal behind us,
We look to break through
To a new dimension.
The mind folds inward
leaving creases.
The mind lives inside the the brain—
A large surface if all spread out.
Neurons are agitated;
Glitches occur.
Events spew forth like comets,
And the mind reels.
Mistakes are made like pudding.
Upon a moment’s notice
Some file is missing.
Something in the wiring has
shorted out.
Evil come, evil go.
Evil marches to and fro.

*In Hinduism, and in particular Jnana Yoga and Advaita Vedanta, neti neti is a Sanskrit expression which means "not this, not this", or "neither this, nor that" It is found in the Upanishads and the Avadhuta Gita and constitutes an analytical meditation helping a person to understand the nature of Brahman by first understanding what is not Brahman. --Wikipedia

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1, verse 58

“There is no need of knowledge, reasoning, time, space, instruction from a teacher, or attainment of Samahdi.
I am naturally the perfect Consciousness, the Real, like the sky, Spontaneous and steady.”

we are as we are complete
with whom then should we compete
life flows on all by itself
what can we add to the Self

doubts that arise are of mind
but we’re soul loving and kind
resting instrument of thought
we become here now self-taught

we’ve vaporised fears have flown
samadhi too is now known
wisdom downloads have been graced
and wayward ego defaced

all we do is dwell in heart
feeling there ignition start
we are as we are complete
from head to toe bliss replete

what was veiled is now revealed
and traumas felt in dreams healed
breath by breath we bilocate
between earth and heaven’s gate

ego’s dead we’ve reclaimed light
breath by breath heightens delight
having plugged energy leak
we’re he we set out to seek

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1 verse 13

You are not born nor do you die.
At no time do you have a body.
The scripture declares in many different ways -
the well-known dictum: "All is Brahman."

looking back our life lived thus far we see
ego is in bondage but soul is always free
oh worthy hermit, we are not body-mind
we’re born and will die, leaving this form behind

we have visited earth many times before
yet rarely if ever, enter through heart’s door
thus lessons to be learnt, remain incomplete
we’ve embraced not love, felt not magnetic heat

if we but choose the path of thought cessation
our presence becomes one with all creation
ego recedes and our true Self is revealed
resplendent in God’s light, consciousness is healed

silence lets us exit the cage of space-time
soul ascends steadily betwixt bliss beats chime
polarities merge, as pheromones mingle
in timeless time our soul’s eye becomes single

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1 verses 10, 11

10. “I, the One only, am all this, beyond space and continuous. How can I see the Self as visible or hidden?”

11. “Thus you are One. Why then do you not understand -
that you are the unchangeable One, equally perceived in all?
O mighty One, how can you, who are ever-shining, unrestricted, think of day and night?”

we are containerised in form
and hemmed in by space-time
yet deep within cave of our heart
resounds God’s sublime bliss chime

we tip toe in therein in staid silence
bereft of thought our eye is single
undifferentiated is awareness
as bliss pheromones mingle

all manifestations disappear
we peer through the pores space
light of Self renews itself within itself
truth is known by benediction of grace

in truth the false that died never was
the ego is but an earth life interface
all that is is but light of Self alone
holding reflections in embrace

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1, Verse 26

“As the self is filled by the Self, so is all filled continuously by you. There is no meditator or meditation.
Why does your mind meditate shamelessly?”

to behold its own reflection
living light takes on myriad forms
each module though one with the whole
hypnotised by the ego, is lost in life’s storms

if we be but still in the void of polarity interchange
occurring between exhalation and inhalation
when intent arises but before its action
these are moments of meditation

ego is but an identity our soul dons
to assist it to safely navigate earth life
as such in truth there is no one here within
our true Self is living light, in peace and bliss rife

the ego as doer or meditator simply does not exist
we are the light that lights all lights in this world
in time stretched silence ego disappears
heart centric, flag of love is unfurled

Premium Member Avadhuta Gita Chapter 1, verse Verse 49

“There is no body made up of five elements; nor is there anyone who is disembodied.
All is verily the Self alone.
How can there be the three states and the fourth?”

To put this verse in perspective
We pause to explain elements and states
The former, earth, water, fire air and vast space
The states are waking, dreaming, deep sleep
The fourth is turiya, recognised by grace

First things first, we are not decaying organic form
This body-mind is but an earth life interface
A vehicle to feel by touch pulse dual
Our true form in singularity is living light
Eternal awareness self-aware in endless renewal

With this preamble the verse becomes clear
Yet remains a concept until we directly recognise
An enablement offered if we be still in the vibrant void
Where in timeless time false identity falls away
Revealing light of Self pure and unalloyed
