Mysterious Orbs

According to a 1975 article published in Winnipeg Press, those 3 stones, found in Eastern Townships of Quebec, serve as evidence that Phoenicians embarked on a treacherous sail across the Atlantic, reaching North America well over 2,500 years ago.
***
He wore a purple dyed robe and bantered softly with the sailors
as they navigated by the light of the stars
with cases of wood and glass tucked away at the base of the boat
including a thousand biblions from the City of Byblos;
The papyrus sheets filled with hurried sketches and mad scribbles
sat on his wood desk. He was on his way to Canada, what could stop him now
Six Mysterious Stone Orbs appeared in the sky overnight
at first appeared that they were just ornaments
But then the sun, fog and rain set in as he touched each stone
The knobbly Orbs were massaged and rolled,
it appeared these stone orbs had magical properties
One was made of sodalite, one of marble,
the other four had strange substance and texture;
It was an eye-opening journey through history and culture
that almost didn't happen, if it weren't for the timely effect
of one Turquenite Blue Howlite Gemstone Orb that blazed
sending Mysterious Gurdian signals to the Galaxy above;
The mast began to shake with its isignia of Orb and Sceptre
as if to say, hang on I will transport you in time,
as a large massive portal appeared he went through.
He made it to Canada, who knew ?

Food Revolution

Food Revolution in England

That was what a middle-class paper wrote
and it could not be more wrong.
To eat this esoteric food, you need a thick wallet.
most people in England are poor and since
the food industry has taken over
People, eat pizza, fish and chips and occasionally a Chines meal of chicken and rice.
They have unlearned how to cook a nourishing simple meal.
Yes, we need a deep social revolution.
The paper in question “the Guardian” appear not to notice
the rampant poverty we live in,
Instead, they talk about luxury restaurants where you need a workman´s wage to enter.
To write this article is fraudulent, pandering to the haves
and poking their noses at the hungry in the street.

You're a Star

Ssshhh! Ssshhh! Ssshhh!
Says who?
Says YOU?
I knew.
I doubt YOU.

Hush! Hush! Hush!
Now why?
YOU cried?
I knew.
YOU lied.

In the stillness
Is the sound of silence.
In the darkness
YOU shine the brightest.

Mind this:
A star
Is never born
In the light.
It's unnoticed
until
before twilight.

But alas!
When born
It creates the day.
It has found a way.

So YOU...
don't doubt,
don't lie.
It's ok to cry.
Yield yourself high.
Dream,
Believe,
Survive.

---Self-love is believing that you can be a star. You can shine despite the challenges you face. Do not doubt yourself nor lie to yourself. Believe and be true to yourself. Just like the sun, being the nearest star on earth, it's light shines everywhere. Just like the sun, your strength is within you.---NOTE: created on May 11, 2021 submitted as a school article for AMA OED course.

I fell in love with a dolphin long ago,
we met in Bermuda at The Blue Grotto
(my dad was posted there, I stayed for a week).
He swam up to me all silver and sleek,
checking me out as much as I did he.
We stayed transfixed gazing earnestly,
for a good long while before the show did start.
Then I was called upon TWICE to play a part!
I got to meet Patrick and shake his flipper,
he pulled me in a boat, me as his skipper!
Of all the kids there I was the only one picked;
his tainer no doubt noticed how we two had cliqued.
For a souvenir I bought an inflatable plastic
great big blue dolphin, and named him Patrick.

I was eleven then. Some years later I came accross an article entitled
"The Day The Dolphins Died", about the cull of dolphins to protect fish
stocks. The author wrote at the end something to the effect that he
"couldn't understand how someone could kill a dolphin after looking into
it's eyes and seeing it looking back."

 I wept. I still weep.

Indus, Ganges, and Brahmaputra,

Yes, a high-powered laser can melt a glacier
or ice sheet locally by converting light energ
y into heat, but it is physically and economically
impossible to melt an entire glacier with a lase
--------------------------------------------------------
Yes, scientists frequently point space-based and
terrestrial lasers at the Himalayan glaciers, but
purely for environmental monitoring
and research purposes.

If you have heard a rumor about a "space laser"
or weapon causing the recent, devastating glacie
r collapse and flash floods along the China-Nepal
border, that is incorrect. The catastrophic collapse
was a natural event driven by shifting high-mountain
environments and climate stability issues

Premium Member I Am a Child- Poem Written For Restore a Child Organization

I am a child
Like the one you tuck in bed
The one you kiss on the head
The one who gets loved instead
The one who is so well fed
I am a child

I am a child
Like the one who gives you joy
Your pretty girl and fine boy
The one who gets every toy
The one who none dares annoy
I am a child

I am a child
With no home to call my own
The cold reaching to my bone
Hunger pangs, all that I’ve known
In tattered clothes, I have grown
I am a child

I am a child
The pavement my only bed
Dreaming of a piece of bread
With a small heart full of dread
My life hanging from a thread
I am a child

I am a child
With no gifts beneath the tree
With no hope to be set free
Wanting like YOUR child to be
Why, oh, why, can’t you love ME?

I am a child
I am YOUR child
I am GOD’s child
Remember me this Christmas….

Eileen Manassian Ghali

I'm privileged that Norma Nashid, founder of Restore a Child, has asked me to be an ambassador for the organization to help raise awareness of the plight of less fortunate children around the world. She asked me to write a poem for their newsletter, and I am sharing her FB post regarding it here with you.

(The poem below was written by Eileen Manassian Ghali, a professor of English at Middle East University in Beirut, Lebanon. She dedicated her poem this Christmas to Restore a Child. Her mother, Angel Dikran Manassian was my favorite teacher and my first teacher in school. Now I get the honor of enjoying the beautiful writing of her daughter, Eileen.--Norma Nashed)

If you are interested in finding out more about this humanitarian organization, please look them up on FB. I will be writing an article soon to highlight the plight of Syrian Refugee children in Lebanon. I hope my Mama would be proud of me!

Premium Member Just Because I Said I Do

Just because I said " I Do"
Doesn't mean I married your family
and yes I love you, but do I have
to critique every pair of shoes to see
if they match what ever color cloth your wearing
and how many times do I need to hear
"does this make me look fat?"
Just because I said " I Do"
Doesn't mean I might forget to wipe my feet
once in awhile before entering the house
or forget to pick up an article of clothing
It's not that I'm lazy, I'm just a man
like all the rest..You remember
"All you men are alike"
Just because I said "I Do"
Doesn't mean you should get mad
because I didn't hear you screaming
while battling an intruder during a football game
Hey, it was a close game
Just because I said "I Do"
Doesn't mean I might forget to say "I love you"
before leaving for work
or leave the toilet seat up..
after all you said "all men are alike"
Just because I said "I Do"
Well, " I Do" so there I said it twice
unlike all the rest of the men

Reflection - The Fragrance of Grace

Mail order catalogs seem to have the ability to procreate in my mailbox. Just when I think I have rendered them infertile they give birth to multiple sets of quintuplets right under my nose as if by magic fertilization! And, of course, I have to examine these newborn opportunities to raid my bank account just to make sure I haven’t missed some article of clothing or thing I can’t possibly live without for the survival of sanity and my eternal happiness. They are like new spring leaves!

A new arrival from a New England country store pictured a garden of stately purple iris that immediately grabbed my hand and took me on a ride back into my grandmother’s iris garden with delicate, yet eloquent, perfume wafting from silky petaled garden royalty.

Each page was an adventurous journey through my childhood reminiscing about miracle wrinkle erasing creams, magic bunion healers and kitchen gadgets long declared useless by technology. But, one page made me stop, drop and drool - perfumes. No nascent scents but old friends looking at me from glossy pages bringing to mind the women who gave my life definition – the Royal Secret of my grandmother; Bellodgia and Gardenia of my favorite aunts; Tigress of my tigress mother and Blue Grass, a Kentucky meadow perfume of my teens.

These remarkable women straddled fleeing decades, crushing depressions, cataclysmic world wars often suffering the unthinkable loss of infants, children, husbands, siblings and miscarriages. Yet, through their signature scents, they taught me about thanksgiving in tragedy, faith in grieving and the irrepressible iron will to live in the fragrance of grace.
