Dorothy and Toto want to get back home because as we all know, there is no place like HOME. So, seeking guidance from all but the wicked witch, off and away to places unknown, we ROAMED. We are off to see the Wizard of Oz because we each need something SPECIAL. We are simply earthly or terrestrial creatures needing something from the CELESTIAL. The Lion needs courage; the scarecrow needs brains; the tin man needs a HEART. We are all helpless on our own, but each is doing our part just to get a brand new START. I joined the youngsters a few miles back and I'm tired already cause this journey is really HARD. Me?* I'm just an old old-timer who's been around the bin a few times and in need of a new SPARK. I have a new pacemaker, false teeth, eyeglasses, hearing aids, an oxygen tank, ....., and a WALKER. I'm a good chess and checker player, and I love shooting pool, but I'm no good at playing POKER. I'm feeling just fine at 99, and my doctor says I need to slow down, but I'm just trying to reach 100. Perhaps somehow the wizard can grant me another year or I'll be dead as sure as my name is TED.

My Darling,
My Love,
My Everything,
This is Number One Hundred.
I told you that I’d reach it, and I have.
This will be a long one,
But I hope it says everything it needs to,
I hope ink lands quicker than tears.
This whole century of writing is for you,
You own every penny in this poetic pound,
So at this literary boiling point,
I want you to know
That a century is just the start; I’ll write for you for millennia to come.
That a pound is small change; I want to make you rich.
That Hell, high water, hot water, can do their worst; this love will endure.
This is the truth that all can see,
But only you will ever know,
Will ever truly know,
The eternal honesty I write about.
And these numbers:
126
1071
8
25
17
100
Only mean anything to you and I and us alone.
Love in numerical exclusivity.
Let me count the ways…
You may be one man, but one is all that this one needs,
Or maybe even just a half, as long as you have half of me.
So know that this is a milestone,
A reminder of what’s yet to come,
A promise for longevity,
A poem for you to read and believe,
A poem for you.
Number One Hundred.
You have my heart, and
I love you.
One hundred years away from now...
Two-thousand, one hundred eighteen,
advances in today's know-how
will be the past on 'new world' scene.
Yet, what will change and what will stay...
so hard to find an answer to,
since now a hundred years, someway,
flies faster than it used to do.
We'll need more time for flying cars,
sky monorails from state to state.
More time to settle up on Mars
with air that we can acclimate.
But, lonely times we will embrace
behind new futuristic screens.
There all our actions will take place...
less human-like, more like machines.
We'll work from home for companies
with formal meetings through VR;
and purchase all necessities
on internet's worldwide bazaar.
Provision services airways
will drone to us our goods and food.
Home entertainment clicks away,
through holographic aptitude.
Robotic-like machines will serve
production done by hands before.
Technology will strengthen verve
to more non-humanly explore.
Less face to face between our kind...
all feelings, thoughts, fly thru the air.
Heartfelt emotions leave the mind...
much less to think about...or care.

Create a noise filled with joy
all the earth need to hear this
so this sound is echoed before the Lord
God’s glory displayed this certainly is
Bow in worship with a glad heart
with a serving spirit before the Lord
raise your voice with melodious sound
entering God’s presence in a sweet chord
Fill yourself with divine knowledge
so to know the Lord is God indeed
His little lambs enjoy His pasture
for His people He will eternally feed
Have thankful hearts filling God’s courts
entering His gates with heavenly praise
give all your blessings to your God
so that His name be exalted raise
Confess it true God is really good
forever is His steadfast love ever sure
being truly faithful through all time
this is our God always shall endure
(Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!
For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.)
Psalm 100 (ESV)
A hundred years of praying,
A hundred years of song,
A hundred years' faith conveying,
And all the days were long!
A hundred years of fireflies,
A hundred years of red roses,
A hundred years of marmalade skies,
And God's love engrosses!
Reverend Hegstrom then, and Pastor Gorder now,
The very first unto the last,
And also those to follow,
Present, future, past.
Baptisms, weddings and special celebrations,
Through all the fiery sunsets;
In God's house, His glorification,
And the past never forgets.
Here we now celebrate 100 years of bliss
At Augustana Lutheran Church of Hyde Park,
And we feel the thrill of His kiss,
And witness the skyward lark!
Heyyy! What's Ben up with you? Me, I'm chillin, ain't much Ben happening 'round here. I Ben sitting here thinking how it's Ben a minute since I've seen you and I must admit I Ben missing you. I Ben wanted to get in touch with you because we have Ben out of contact for far too long.
You know, we have Ben friends since as far as I can remember and yet some people don't understand how we are still so close after all these years. What I tell them is, you have Ben someone I could depend on and have helped me out of so many situations, more than they'll ever know. I am thankful and grateful for our friendship because we have Ben through a lot and you have always stuck by my side. The one thing I like most is, it has always Ben about us, so I'm not the type to get jealous when you go and hang out with others, cause I know one thing for sure, you always come back and holla at ya girl.
I know you Ben missing me too, so let's go out this weekend since I have finally Ben able to get some time off. Yeah, let's hang out and go places like we used to. We can go to the mall, the movies, go get something to eat, go to the park, whatever. Besides, it's Ben a while since we played the Dizzy game. You know I like when I get to spend you here, there, everywhere. I get super hyped up spending you around and around, lol. Hanging with you has always Ben so exciting. You Ben my A 1 since Day 1, so you of all people definitely know how to keep me smiling!
Alright, I'm 'bout ta go. It's Ben good talking to ya, have a good one.
I'll see you on Friday!
Love always,
Colette
As we commerate the great war
thinking of what this world was like
over these past 100 years
sometimes it looks it's been on strike
Has the world changed for the better?
consider the vast changes there's been
so much more affluency and materialism
seems much more knowledge to glean
But it's doubtful we're any better
everything's so fast with no time to spare
nobody's got time for one another
there's a great lack of care
In those days a century ago
each looked out for their neighbour
making sure they were always well
giving to them no lack of labour
Oh to get back to these values
which brought contentment and respect
then we had real true morals
not like todays greed and need to get
But time moves forever on
the future lies there unknown
expect that one day it'll all end
when we'll receive what we've sown
100 Years Beyond

And after all
The mirror did not reflect any of the rain
From last Fall
Dryness is the grand prize won at contests of skill
At county fairs
Young girls always find ways to be perfect at something but
Boys don’t seem to care
Today we have scheduled a tour of an antique shop
On the older end of 34th street
Sanitation engineers supply the wares
A friend of a friend knows someone who remembers when
It was a dirt road
Many of the names on the sidewalk shingles are
Familiar and are the same printed in the phone book
On the nicer side of town
100 years ago turns out to be closer than I thought
Which means 100 years from now is almost here
God be praised and thanked for He loves me so
He sees my heart of great awe to His name
My soul that yields to His might---He knows well
As He hears glad words* of trust from doubt's fright
His hands hoist my faith that serves by His grace.
Oh, I sing with joy; my mouth shouts blest hymns
Since the Lord* sets me in His grand best will
Full of peace, bliss, hope, I can share midst care---
His light guides my steps from snares of sin blight
Now freed from hell’s sting, I do live for Him.
*Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation…
