Leadened Poems | Examples

Metropolis Iv

She walks ancient canyons
twisted steel monolithic spires.
Racing high her memory clouded
gray sky leadened in pain.
Like someone quietly loosen their hair
Let storms gather along a deserted plain, bring…
How her hands clutches as lightning gathers
Like ravens at a murder, sing…
she rises to meet the rain
From the cold steel day
Light delays in the canyons
of a cold iron metropolis
Metropolis…!

Veins Just Behind

As snow creamed down the mountain
and moonlight kissed with azure brush
those fractured eyes
and nibbles at marooned cloud
as infatuated laid its head
My leach just a mispronounced spell
Breath lost transmutates to
icicle arrows
and hangs on leadened mist
Echoes drop to knee
and simper of the dark
and shadows dance
with frozen light
to death
To death
life and thought raise frosted glass
as fate chuckles by
and hope a step not made
and fear with canine stealth
veins just behind

The Symphony Undone

Say, human,
say that you are at a symphony.
Which, as you know, you enjoy
to the depth of your soul.

And, suddenly, the conductor
raises his baton
And the music STOPS
in a heartbeat, inhumanly fast.

Frozen in a moment

silence heartbreak shock

motion

as one, the oboes all rise,
bow to the audience,
and walk off of the stage.

Then as a single continued motion
the conductor brings down his arm,
and music fills the hall once more.

And time moves on.

How long

How long will you sit there
eyes wide, heart leadened
before you realize that

you can never stop hearing
the hole left by the missing oboes.

Day of Reckoning

Wind lashes into me, no softer than a cat o’ nine tails.
The rope swinging like a fallen halo.
Fear of death was never resident in me, I thought I knew my final resting place,
But now. What now.

If only you had not abandoned me.
Or did I abandon you. The moment I plundered his body of life breath.
She had lain with him as naked and carefree as a baby in a bath.
With honour deplete and heart wretched would not any man have done the same.

She told me I would never grace your hallowed halls,
But be consumed by eternal fire.

My chest is leadened. My heart thudding.
The rope is stilled. I look for a sign.
My only fear is of the unknown.

Together, Always

At first glance, I did notice,
a certain pupillary twinkle.
Were we untethered in this world,
I would query upon the digits,
in which you possess,
in order to scheme for a locale,
in which to converge.
It would take much to constrain
the intoxication within my soul,
just to reside in your presence.
Fascination upon my lids,
that burns into my retina,
to last and era.

Fate was our good fortune,
that in time placed us in unison,
one, with the other,
throughout life we do tread,
two lives amalgamated, in all ways.

If I lost you
I would cleave, in and out,
split assunder, a slow journey.
I would delve alone, and lonely
toward my tomb.
For, in your abscense
my leadened heart would become
heavy, sluggish, and cease to beat.
We would once again unite,
together , always.
