Before you condemn me, hear my side,
Don't be too quick to judge, before you decide.
I'm not a criminal, I'm not a thief,
Don't make me suffer for someone else's misbelief.
Prove me guilty before you judge me,
Don't make me a victim of society's decree.
I am not a scapegoat, I am not a prey,
Don't punish me for something someone else did and they got away.
I have a voice, I have a right,
To defend myself with all my might.
Don't assume the worst, don't presume,
Let's make the truth our only room.
I am innocent until proven guilty,
Don't let your biases make me a filly.
I deserve justice, I deserve respect,
Don't let your prejudice make me feel like a reject.
So, I plead with you, please listen to me,
Give me a chance, and you will see,
That I'm not what you assume, not what you hear,
Prove me guilty before you judge me, don't let your fear.
Whatever was in their heads
May have pushed them over the edge
What they call fear
Means turning a deaf ear
Than becoming nebulous about the facts
When their motive was clear
Grief has no color but it has many names
Your grief, my grief and their grief is all the same
If we disagree with the one who’s wearing a badge
It doesn’t mean that the badge wearer words will be the last
THE LAW
ALL are PRESUMED INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty
That means no bodies should be lying dead in the streets
With a toe-tag of defeat
Who made the police the judge and jury?
Who made the snipers minds blind with fury?
Sane people know right from wrong
And wrong cannot be justified, It Cannot be justified
By either side
How long, how long will this go on?
I hear the Lord saying “Not long”
in this civilized democratic society we have the law
a system of checks and balances that our forefathers had foresaw
but today we have the rich and powerful, the elitist ones
who think that they're above the law no matter what deeds they have done
we also have those who are in a law-enforcement capacity
who think the law does not apply to their acts of duplicity
we have court clerks, judges, attorneys and D.A.s
who use the rules of law as a game that they can play
yet it's us the American citizens, the law-abiding average man
who view the law as a most important and judicious plan
innocent until proven guilty, it's the democratic way
we regard the law as a necessary rule to have order in this day
it's a shame and a travesty that those in trusted positions of power
think that their deeds are above the law at any given hour
so how do we fix this problem and amend this flaw?
so everybody will know that they are not above the law.
