Idlest Poems | Examples

Noblesse Oblige

Painstaking plumes of surest gait
To wield diamond steel over fate;
With slow pair of wit-guarded lips,
As otiose words sway great ships.

Invincible flair and exacting knack
To stand out from the frothy pack;
Ochred with all blue-penciled skill,
For nabob’s dimwits do mimic still.

With the far-scanning aquiline eye
That fowls unborn miles like a spy;
Plus an ear for tiniest voices tuned,
For idlest vowel by vagaries ruined.

Gigantic empathy for pinched souls
Hewn down by lot’s inclement fouls;
Felt tear for fellow wayfarers stung
By blunt luck's blade rashly swung.

A little but constant sacrifice betimes,
For bereft chum eschewed by dimes;
Or even total strangers in want of bail
Out of a jinx along existence’s icy sail.

Souldifull

I’ve crowned The Mighty Never in my guts,
For if and when are where I’ve always been—
To hang the Hows and crucify the Whats;
An oath I’ll take to ev’ry grave of skin.

The idlest illness in any patient;
The longest cry returning from the wind;
The first cold scream in all of creation;
The first buckled gene that split into sin—

Why, oh why, did we breakdown so within?

There are souls too beautiful for this Earth,
And ev’ry god knows they do not belong—
But I’ve been ghastly and wicked since birth
And I’ll be here long after they’re all gone.

If you are they, and then—
I will drop by when….

I will say it—

I promise.

Again.

Wonderment

Whispering
thoughts to one's idlest fancy,
Imagining feelings
to one's innermost soul.
Babbling inanities,
crying insanities,
Wondering, wandering
alone and alone.

Where does it take one,
where does it want one,
where does it seduce one
along the strange source
of forbidden mysteries,
of unexplored paths,
of untouched feelings,
of ecstasies unknown,
or unthought of.

Where will it end?
